Happy Friday...what a week. There are lot of ways to make binding. But before I talk about them, we need to know the basics. If you haven't made yourself a 3-in-1 tool yet, you'll save yourself a lot of headache if you do. Enjoy.
Lol I get so stressed and my neck disappears, I've been clenching my jaw and grinding my teeth...and I laugh and grab a tea, take a break and a breath, and remind myself that it's my first quilt for one of our kiddos! They love it already and it'll be warm usable and washable lol !
What is a quilter's knot? How do I sew the binding down on the back? Do I just sew along the edge (parallel to the edge) or should I sew X's, or perpendicular? What keeps the binding down the best?

I wanted you to know that this is the ONLY video I could wrap my brain around. I have tried and tried to learn this method, but I don't see things the way others do. It always looks backwards to me. So, tonight, I stopped and worked frame-by-frame and it WORKED. OMG I am beyond relieved. I'm working on a special gift and just had to have it perfect. I have been struggling with the fiddly way and get a knot in my stomach every time I have to cut the binding lol. I’m a retired elementary school teacher, and i only sub now, (well, not anymore due to covid). i needed a new hobby to keep me from having a anxiety attacks and quilting has turned to my spiritual yoga! i have a little domestic Janome i got for mother’s day and i’m learning to free arm quilt so as to put my quilts together. Some great tips. Thank you! I couldn't quite follow the knot at the end. If you ever put it in another video, perhaps showing it more slowly and closer to the camera, it would be easier to follow. Karen, EVERY time I get to "the tails" of my binding I rewatch this video to make sure I flip them correctly before I sew them. 😆 TY yet again!!!!
