We all need therapy in one way or another. Me and my friend made a pack when we were younger to talk once every wk and he would teach me what he learned that i didn't and i would teach him what learned that he didn't. that was 12 years ago and we still talk every sunday about our goals and problems in life. Everyone do this if you can it makes life much easier!!

I noticed the word error as well, but "pack" actually works in a sense - plz don't change it.
The old saying goes like this:
The strength of the wolf is the pack, and the strength of the pack is the wolf.
So that's how pack works 🐕

after quarantine i’m going to start therapy. what inspired me to get therapy is just thinking about going into a safe room with a trained professional and you can just say what’s on your mind, talk about my feelings and even cry in that room and i don’t have to worry about being judged or what i’m saying in that room being spread to other people. a therapist can help me find solutions to work out my problems and i think that’s amazing.

Best thing I've seen in years! Dr. Anhalt speaks volumes in less than 11 minutes. Thank you! Years ago, I was so confused and unhappy from a bad childhood that I almost ended my life in my 20s.
Thank goodness I sought professional psychological help and lucked up with two, dedicated "shrinks" who helped me better understand my situation. I am forever grateful for both of them.

How wonderful that someone so young is investing in the changes in herself for personal growth and then qualifying to share it and help others. I so wish I had done my therapy earlier in my life instead of leaving it till my 50s after 25yrs of reading self help positive books to make me 'better'. That was all such hard work when now, I have come to believe that I am good enough just as I am.

The most profound meaningfulness in life is a constant. It's not just a temporary feeling gained from therapy although for some who are in really bad shape, therapy could be a good start.
A few simple rules in life (some unavoidable even though many try with futility) - these are an immense help on one's quest for meaning:
    1. Life is NOT fair.
    2. You are NOT entitled to anything good in life, including happiness.
    3. Where there is life, there is hope.

    • @ethics5470
      @ethics5470 ปีที่แล้ว +2

It is crucial to understand that therapy can be a useful instrument in one's quest to discover meaning and purpose in life, even though it is true that the most profound meaningfulness in life may be a constant and not just a fleeting sense received via treatment. Counseling can help people find a sense of purpose and fulfillment as well as the support, knowledge, and understanding they need to deal with life's difficulties and uncertainties.
Regarding the three straightforward rules you proposed, they can undoubtedly be useful in controlling expectations and overcoming challenges in life. Recognizing that everyone's experiences and life situations are different and that some people might endure more difficulties than others is crucial. It is imperative to approach each person's journey with compassion and understanding and to be aware that, while these guidelines may be beneficial for some people, they might not always be appropriate in every circumstance. In the end, discovering meaning and purpose in life is a very private and personalized process that may call for various strategies for various individuals. Indeed, there is hope where there is life!

Turn to bible and allow CHRIST to be your therapist, psychologist and psychiatrist. No man nor women fits to be one. All are sinners and without glory, all are tempted and suffer the same.
All are expected to REPENT AND BORN AGAIN, to LIVE HOLY AND GO AND SIN NO MORE.
All are weak in the daily fight between their spirit and flesh.
All these therapist, psychologist and psychiatrist, this world provides, can do is:
      to deceive and steal.
They deceived you through all these “diagnoses” and they steal your money, through all the pills which you “need”.
In short: they poison your mind and your overall health, leaving you with neither one.
Therapist, Psychologist and Psychiatrist = Field where no human soul, never ever going to fit of being an help, no matter the among of years spend in “medical schools” or the decree gotten from there.
ALL of us are daily deceived, no matter the walks of life.

First I thought she was promoting therapy because she is a therapist. But actually I see her point, some work on themselves through religious practices, some choose a therapist. The result is knowing your mind, clarity of mind, which is, in my opinion, the most important in personal growth and happiness.

    • @triton62674

Right, there's got to be a substitute for religion in the West and for some people therapy could be it

      @dreamervanroom 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Adding to your list: Psychedelics (mind manifesting), Est, Arica, Buddhism, Silent Meeting, Experiential spiritual groups like Subud or Osho, Zen.
.... wait that one counts as a religion tho it isn't belief oriented. Much of Buddhism are (psychological) mind manifesting. Belief religions are like a life of practicing for a play, a performance, with daily rehearsals.

I've always wanted to see a therapist. I can admit that I don't have the answer to most of the decisions I need to make. I'm often conflicted by what I think and what I feel. My heart and mind are always in constant war. Therapy I feel would be the treaty to bring those opposing forces together. Something like a peace treaty. I'm just too broke to afford it.

For years I've been feeling, that emotional & mental therapy is very important for the human experience. However, as I've learned in my own life, it is extremely challenging to find a therapist that is beneficial for you. There are many therapists out here in the world, that are not well skilled, fitting, or efficient to be anybody's therapist. Several individual therapists have re-traumatized me with their incompetence, and or lack of care.

As she joked about the gentleman who paid with nickels she undermined critical attention to the stigma that still surrounds psychology in spite the research validating its benefits and the mental health crisis in our country, especially amidst our economic and health pandemic. This also devalues those that sincerely have no financial and insurance resources to see therapists.

I wish my therapist was like you, because I think I am sometimes talking care of her. I take care of very one.. She one time said she had no idea but what I could do about a situation. 😳 I ended up trying to do my best. Anyways I thought that’s what therapy or part of what therapy was for. To talk ways to handle things. Maybe it’s not the right fit. Hard to find a good therapist

You don’t have to stick to one particular therapist if you’re not getting what you need out of the sessions, sometimes some therapists aren’t a good fit for you and that’s okay. And it’s okay to switch and find another one ❤️

My Spiritial therapy .As a child I believed that the Bible was the word of God and that Jesus was my savior .In 1988 I had a wonderful girlfriend , we raced motorcycles , we went to bluegrass festivals and did whatever we wanted to do . I realized that I had everything the world said was happiness but I felt something important was missing and I didn't know what it was. I tried scientology , all kinds of yoga, martial arts and various other disciplines but nothing satisfied me . One Sunday morning I came home drunk in a taxicab and waiting outside of my house was a man who was giving my roommate a ride to church. I had gone to alcoholics anonymous for six months and they helped me a lot but I had gone back to drinking .He invited me to sit in his car and talk. He asked me if I wanted a bible study. I said I would love to have a bible study . He came on Monday nights the only night of the week that I didn't drink. It was a 12 week bible study that went from Genesis to Revelation. He showed me in the book of Acts ( Acts 2:38 ) where it said repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sin and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost . I said I'd never seen that in the bible and I wanted to get baptized in Jesus' name and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. I got baptized in Jesus' name and prayed for two months to get the Holy Ghost. The night that I got the Holy Ghost I was praying and I started to talk in tongues , I felt wonderful and GOD delivered me from the spirit of alcohol . I have never wanted to drink since then and I praise GOD for that.
. The man who gave me the twelve week bible study taught me a ' GODHEAD ' bible study twice but i didn't understand the oneness of God or the trinity . I was reading the bible one day and read Ephesians 4 : 5-6 that i had previously highlighted in my bible . God gave me the revelation of oneness . ' ONE LORD , ONE FAITH , ONE BAPTISM , ONE GOD AND FATHER OF ALL , WHO IS ABOVE ALL , AND THROUGH ALL ,AND IN YOU ALL !
JOHN 3:16 IS JUST ONE VERSE : YOU NEED TO READ ALL OF CHAPTER THREE TO UNDERSTAND JESUS' PLAN OF SALVATION !
    I was a believer from childhood but I wasn't saved .
Therapy helped me and now JESUS is my wonderful counselor !
THANK YOU FOR READING THIS !

Even though i believe therapy is necessary in order to progress as individuals and as a species there are two things that should be adressed:
    1. Social stigma that comes with therapy. While for most educated people it makes sense, the world doesn’t treat mental health-being with the seriousness it deserves.
    2. Cost. Coming from a country in crisis where entry level income is 500-600 euros, no one will give 50/week to have therapy. I am now a student and can certainly not afford it. I do not have low enough family income or diagnosed mental sickness to get government aid. I tell myself i will be able to afford it growing up, but reality is i probably won’t. At 50 per hour it is not a viable solution. I do not blame therapists for having rates like this, but they certainly do not target the median household.

I'm 62 now and when I was 16 my mother made me go to counseling however every word that came out of my mouth to the counselor was a lie so was wasting her time for sure. And because I fought drug addiction all my life I have been to five treatment centers and lots of counseling probably over 2000 or more 12 step recovery meetings. And the last time that I went to counseling the counselor said I know more about his job than he did. And the last time I went to treatment they had a class to where we told each other how we saw ourselves and how we saw one another and everybody in the class said that they noticed that I knew everything about recovery but how odd it was that I was in a Treatment Center. The real truth is I had so much counseling the counselors were transferring their knowledge to me. Pretty much everything I know to get through being depressed or any curveballs life may throw me or I may create on my own. Came through counseling and all the meetings that I went through. However at the end of the day I have to choose to listen to The Counselor I have to choose to not use drugs I have to choose to believe in God I have to choose to pray to God. Or in some cases I suppose you can choose not to. Either way you have to make a choice. So if there's anything that you could get out of what I have to say it would be first of all you have to be honest with the counselor and then you have to follow the directions or else you might find yourself listen to a group of people telling you how you sure got a lot of head knowledge but not much action. It's all about a choice the counselor is not going to make us happy a counselor a treatment center a group of people isn't going to get us off of the drugs we have to make the choice to do the things that keep us happy or clean and sober. Or content if you will. It's all about a choice. At the end of the day all the counselor really wants is to see us make progress. Who knows perhaps when we choose to follow directions we may need counseling less and less perhaps some day not at all. It's like having a sports injury and going to the physical therapist but not doing any of the stretches or exercises at home that he told you to do three times a week. And then going oh man that physical therapy doesn't work. Can you imagine how wonderful that must feel to a counselor if you show up one time and say wow I did those exercises and I feel so much better rather than bombarding them with all your woe is me. Long story short Going backwards staying the same or moving forward is a choice. There for a while I guess I was waiting for the counselor to do it for me. In hindsight if I could go back and see all the people through counseling and Recovery that pointed out the truth to me I would tell them thank you. They say the truth hurts however I say not listening to the truth hurts worse. Best bet is God's way is easier softer way

Yes, some good points here. But be careful with building the paradigm of therapy for all! Yay, sign me up! Not so fast, many people are fully capable of healing themselves and working on their own emotional challenges without a “trained professional”. Part of the growth dimension and a big part of the journey is figuring it out for ourselves and taking charge of our own mental health without a “trained professional”. Sorry about being the sole dissenter here.

Therapy works. I'm a therapist. I'm also a patient, and see a therapist weekly. It works as long as you're willing to truly open up. I thought it was a sham until I found the right therapist. Turns out it was life-changing.
They're not going to do the work for you. You need to be willing to work on yourself, too.

Do you maybe think your negative outlook, going in, may have been the reason behind your lack of success with therapy? Therapy works when the person is willing and open. It does not work if someone is closed off and lacks self-awareness.

@@melissa8500Not really because every time I’ve done therapy, I was desperate for help to change.
The last stint of therapy… I felt increasingly alone, closed off, unheard, invalidated, useless, anxious, misunderstood. I lost trust in each therapists and the people in my life. I felt like I was losing myself instead of discovering myself. The whole experience lacked innovation and inspiration.
I’m working through a task list then I’ll quietly bow out of existence. The closer I get to 50, the less interested I am in sticking around.
