    This is a “compact SUV” EV
    Wheelbase is the same as a Palisade
    But the footprint is the same as a Tucson
    That’s cuz this is on an updated eGMP platform
    That maximizes interior space unlike gas chassis
    Competition
    Kia EV6
    Ford Mustang Mach E
    Polestar 2
    Model Y
    ID4
    EV stuff
    Three flavors
    RWD min 220 miles
    RWD max 303 miles
    AWD gets the same 77.4kWH battery as the RWD max
    Range 260 miles
    101 mpgE rating
    Charge 10-80 in as little as 18 min
    Or like 7 hours on an Emporia

    Heat pump
    Power
    Here with the HTRAC dual motor AWD
    320 hp

    Just a note: that is the top-line Limited trim. It has a lot of cool, blingy features that aren't on the SE or SEL (like the LED bumper lines, moveable floor console, cooled seats, B-pillar vents, 360 camera, ambient lighting, etc.) HUD and Vista roof are options.

    I bought my ioniq5 in March 2021, it has about 60000 km / 40000 miles and I am EXTREMELY satisfied. Build quality is amazing. I have the Belgian "balance" trim, fully equiped except roof window. One single mini problem of sensor recalibration in almost 3 years. Service in Belgium is good, no problem. About efficiency it's what I expected with an average of 20 kWh/100 km. And a max range of 350km in winter, 450km in summer for the 73kWh battery. The best of the car : charging in less than 30min from 15% to 90% and 20min to 80% during summer. Given my very good experience, the next will most probably be Hyundai/Kia again. And this car is SOOOOOO SEXY !

      Oh dear...no. proven story that the dealer was idiotic and just wrote a stupid estimate so insurance company would write the car off. Even Hyundai Canada confirmed that the price the dealer quoted was more than 2 times what it actually would have cost...just more anti EV stupidity. Proven that the dealer never even removed the battery to actually inspect!!!
      Yes the battery is expensive as any new technology is but no where near what was quoted...lazy dealer.

    HYUNDAI = OWNERSHIP NIGHTMARE!! The high voltage battery in my 2017 Sonata PHEV died under warranty when the car was only four years old with 42,000 miles. Hyundai refused to repair or replace the battery under warranty. I had to go through non lemon law arbitration to have the vehicle repurchased, which I won easily. However, Hyundai then decided to miscalculate the repurchase amount and attempted to underpay me by $2000.00. This forced me to go through arbitration a second time, which I won (again). The whole process took 18 months…No loaner. If you own a Hyundai…Sell that piece of crap while you can…

    The reports about having the "junk" the car due to the battery protection plate bwing scratched. With a replacement cost of 56k for juat a new battery, plus labor amd taxes...
    With that in mind, that means there cant be any resale value after 5 to 8 yrs. As by that time the batteries will have been worn out/degraded enough that the range will be reduced enough. That a new battery will be required... But will cost as of 2024 more than the cost of the car new..

    • @michaellippmann4474
      @michaellippmann4474 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      That story is garbage!!!! It was an idiotic dealer who wrote a stupid estimate so the insurance company would just write the car off. Hyundai Canada confirmed this that the dealer quoted more than 2 times what the battery is worth. Just an incompetent dealer. Retail price of battery is about $26,000 Canadian (yes that is still stupid expensive but price out a new crate engine from GM for Chevy Yukon...not quite that pricey but still north of $10,000)
      Labour's is about $1300 to change.
      So the story really is crap...the dealer never even took the time to remove the battery and test it!

    • @NomadCF
      @NomadCF 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@michaellippmann4474 I can see possibly the first one was a combination of driver / dealership issue. There is a confirmed second story. From a lady in Canada with almost the same issue but no radiator damage or other problems found. Literally ran over something scraped the bottom of the battery protector. And they're essentially junk in the car.
      But even taking the first one into account, this is the kind of response people can expect from these dealerships. That's extremely off-putting.

    • @michaellippmann4474
      @michaellippmann4474 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@NomadCF yeah no doubt this can happen and it will be expensive. But the same can and does happen to ICE vehicles as well. Locally here a 2021 or 22 Silverado with a diesel ran over a piece of steel pipe, bounced up and took off the oil pan and impaled itself into the transmission. Replacing the engine and transmission had to be an expensive proposition?
      In any case it just seems like battery prices get exaggerated in many "news" stories. I know exactly what a new 77kwh battery for my Ioniq5 costs. Do I anticipate ever having to change it? Probably not, we drive 50,000 - 60,000 km a year, on this car we have 45,000 km in 7 months...0 issues.
      But that being said I have owned 100+ ICE vehicles and never really had any major issues so I am not worried or concerned at all.
      Cheers

    I have just been watching a vid that shows a fairly new Hyundai Iqonic 5 with an accidentally damaged battery . The cost of new battery was $60 K Canadian,which is $5 K more than a new vehicle.and not covered by warranty. So no matter how good you think it is,the reallity is very different.I wouldn`t have one as a gift. It`s a load of crap.

      @Drift-yf4rn 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Well of course it's not covered by warranty, that's not what warranties are for. You can't total your car and claim it's a manufacturing fault... Wouldn't you just use your insurance?

      @beastieboy3926 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Drift-yf4rn Sure, thats right,but driving over something like a lost exhaust totalled the car??? what? These things have the most valuable part of the car placed in the most vulnerable possition and it is not sufficiently protected.Great design -- Not.Same accident in ICE car may result in damage ,but nowhere near to that extent,probably repairable for a few hundred $.Sorry EV`s are crap, until the battery is a lot better and a lot cheaper.

      It's one video, it's not the case at all for most battery replacements.

    • @TroyChristmas
      @TroyChristmas หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Having an expensive single point of failure is an issue all EVs have. Understand your insurance coverages and risk tolerance.
      There are always nightmare insurance stories, but generally speaking the cost should be partly in higher car prices (manufacturers insurance), higher insurance premiums, more exclusions/partial coverage (to cover insurer risk). Caveat emptor.
      Before I get an EV, I'll review all of these but I suspect it will be fine because the companies and governments want us to buy these cars and too many horror stories kills adoption, just like vehicle fires.
