    Great info! Looks like your adventure was well-planned enough for a good time. Maybe waders should be part of your gear list.

      Thank for watching from afar. 😁 Yeah waders would be good, except for the weight. Yes, walking around for a week in wet or at best, damp boots wasn’t ideal. But hey, those are the sacrifices us hikers have to sometimes make, right?! All the best out there. 😁

    Hi Barry, really great to see you making super content again. Great tips here and as usual very well illustrated and edited together. Will be checking out that backpack.... ATB Tom

      Thanks again for all your support too, Tom. I really appreciate it! 👍🏼
      Southern Lite Packs are based in NZ and actually make the pack to fit you, (you give them the length of your back) and you get to choose the colours you want too, which is great. I’m hoping to have mine by Easter.
      All the best out there.

      @@wildmountainman1 Hi Barry, yes I just had a look at their packs. They look really good and something completely different. Thank you for sharing.. Tom

    Great tips. Mostly common sense. As the old saying goes, common sense is sometimes not that common so it sure helps to have these things reinforced.

      @wildmountainman1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, true. It’s funny though, if you haven’t been out on a long trip for awhile your mind goes a bit rusty as to what to bring. So as you say, a good reminder. All the best. 😁

    All common sense stuff, nicely composed. Have you purchased another tent after the purple palace?

      Thanks Dave. I’m about to buy the tent I talk about in my video. The Aussie branded Mont 1pp Moondance.

    Great vid thanks Barry, great to see another post - and love that scenery, Young Wilkin is a fave - Im curious what you did extra to make it 7 days…

      Hey James. Thanks for checking in. We took a helicopter up to the Top Forks Hut and then did a day walk up near Rabbit Pass. Next day we camped up near Lucidus Lake and some went to Lake Castalia. Next we went back to Kerin. Forks Hut, Lake Crucible and the Pass, Young Hut and home. We had some weather delays early on and we’re taking it as a walking holiday, so weren’t in any hurry. It was a great time. All the best.

    HI Barry, another great vic. What's the Macpac quilt you've got? I'm looking for a new quilt and didn't think Macpac had any - yours looks nice and floofy though so interested to know the model. Cheers!

      Hi Meredith. Thanks for checking out my latest vid. I’m glad you liked it.
      I got the quilt late 2020 from Macpac and at the time I think it was the last one they had in stock nationally. There’s two types. One the thicker, more alpine suited, red quilt. Mines the lighter navy 3-season quilt. If they no longer have them, I would suggest a Sierra Design quilt from Further Faster in Ch-Ch. it actually has a sown up box for your feet. The other option is company that makes them here in NZ, they’re called, Kiwi Ultralight. See them on the net or on FB. Happy hunting for new gear.
