    HTC was the 1st to come out using 4G. Apple, Sammy, LG, everyone else followed. HTC was the 1st phone company to equip their phones with all-metal bodies. Every other company just followed. HTC introduced us to Blinkfeed, BoomSound, UltraPixel tech, etc. and every other company just did the same by making their equivalents. HTC has always been the true leader of innovations in the phone arena. It's too bad HTC is hurting and is regarded as the under-dog while every other company takes the credit for what HTC creates. HTC deserves greater recognition. HTC 10 all the way.

      this x1000 HTC is and always has been the first in innovation for smart phones, everyone I know rocks iPhone or galaxy and ask what my mysterious phone is, those poor souls, everyone jumping on bandwagons without seeing for themselves the potential of HTC devices

    • @IchigoIchigo3
      @IchigoIchigo3 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      +chris s "mysterious phone" x) ahaha. I know, I remember when I took my friend visiting from Japan to In N Out, she seen my phone and was like "ohhhh, what is this??" haha I was like, it's an HTC One M8, it's made by a Taiwanese brand, much better than Apple phones ;) (she has an Apple phone) Anyways, I agree! Couldn't have said it any better myself.

      Metal is bad for reception. It increases the amount of radiation the antenna has to emit (aka send through your head and body) and therefor drains the battery much more quickly. Also, germs grow much faster on metal.

    • @knwr
      @knwr 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Katzelle3 "send through your head and body". Ahhh. You're one of those people

    • @Katzelle3
      @Katzelle3 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      knwr
      Even when we ignore possible health effects, your phone's signal still has to get through a lot of material, which isn't exactly great for reception.
      I'm just saying that, there are people who do care about radiation (and you seem to know some of them), and if they do, then they should consider getting a Note 7, since it has one of the lowest IEEE standard SAR ratings ever measured on a phone. (0.25 W/kg).

    Although the choice is obviously hard I am choosing the 10 for these reasons:
    - I don't really need all the extra bloatware the S7 provides and Sense UI is more "Grown Up"
    - The Construction of the 10 is wayy better IMHO. That Cold Metal feel in the Morning is the most underrated "feature".
    - I've been a very happy HTC customer since the Desire HD and I have no intention of going somewhere else if their products still fulfill my needs.
    Basically I'd only see the 10 in front of me, but the S7 is a good opponent here in Greece since, the S7 Edge costs 580 euros while the HTC 10 costs 769 euros. That's a price difference to consider !
    PS. As for the camera, as a photographer I know pretty well that software plays an enormous role win JPEG processing.
    But when you shoot RAW (that the HTC 10 supports) the software plays no role at all. The WB plays no role. Noise Reduction, Sharpening, Vignetting and Lens Corrections... None of that Happens.
    And from my experience, I compared RAW vs JPEG on my Sisters's LG G4 and the difference was NIGHT and DAY.
    On RAW mode you can clearly see the Vignetting from the lens, but the image quality is leaps ahead.
    So another reason I am considering the 10 is that RAW mode !!!
    I used Manual Mode on my M8 a LOT and was surprised to see that when I first bought it.

    Yeah but did you do your data speed test using the included USB Type-A to USB Type- C connector? Cause if so then the transfer speeds will be the same but for those of us using a intel Skylake machine with native 3.1 Gen 2 USB type-C support can theoretically transfer double what USB type-A 3.0 can do. I myself am going to get a type-C to type-C cable once I get my HTC One 10.

It's been a bit of a mess because the press was releasing the reviews before the product was out imo, and looks like there have been a couple updates on both firmware and camera software (I've seen reviews with 1.20 HTC software version, 1.21 and seen samples with 1.24)

    I'd choose the HTC 10. I've owned two Samsung devices before and both are still in mint condition. I currently own an HTC and it's awesome. . so my next one will be an HTC too. Plus Samsung's UI is oversturated with features which are not much used in real life, although it's cool to have them WHEREAS HTC offers feautures of real use. . And personally, the camera on HTC 10 seemed to do a better job in delivering close to real life photos.
    But that's just my opinion.
    Most would prefer s7's camera. .

    HTC 10 vs Samsung Galaxy S7:
    THIS is a clash of the titans. The two best phones of the year but which is better...
    Screen:
    The HTC 10 is packing a new and improved 5.2 inch Super LCD 5 display while the Samsung seemingly rules the roost with a 5.1 inch Super AMOLED display. Despite what you hear ,though, this fight is certainly closer than you think. The HTC device is packing the best LCD display around, with brilliant contrast yet natural colours and excellent viewing angles all round plus a vivid sear-your-eyes-off 2K resolution. Samsung keeps the same screen size from last year's S6 and the same display technology as well as the same 2K resolution. That's not to say it's a bad screen though. In fact, it is considered by many to be the best display on a smartphone and for good reason. Fantastic contrast, excellent brightness, super-deep blacks and hot, saturated colours make this display the most visually appealing to the average consumer The screen is also more battery-efficient than the competition. Yet, it is often accused of over-saturation but Samsung have largely fixed this with the S7 while maintaining its sheer quality. If you're more of a realist though, you'll prefer the HTC 10. It's quite remarkable how much HTC have closed the gap and you DEFINITELY shouldn't be disappointed with either display but Samsung still have, hands down, the best screen around.
    S7 Rating: 10
    HTC Rating: 9
    Design:
    This is obviously quite a matter of preference but there are still some design elements that are superior to others and excellent build quality cannot be denied. These are two of the best designed phones on the market. The HTC 10 is the beauty of light, crafted into a brand new all-metal unibody. Every element of the HTC 10 has been designed, refined and perfected. From the bold new chamfered contour to its stunning dual-textured finish and quality construction. All the way down to getting the perfect click from the power button. The Samsung Galaxy S7 represents a seamless fusion of glass and metal. It makes a breathtaking design statement with its beautifully slim body and radiant glass surfaces that reflect a wide spectrum of dazzling colours. Keep in mind though, this is NOT the S7 Edge. It does not have a crazy curved screen and plays it safer and more subtle with a normal 2D display. The S7's design has some definite cons though. It is a total fingerprint magnet and the glass back isn't very practical. It feels cool but after some drops, it will have chips and cracks ALL OVER which certainly make it less amazing. The S7 is still a beautiful phone and a BIT more flashy than the 10 but loses practicality marks and its beauty is quite short term.
    S7 rating: 9
    HTC 10 rating: 10
    Performance;
    These two phones have quite different set-ups. The S7 uses a home-grown 2.3 ghz octa-core 64-bit Exynos 8890 chipset backed up by a mega Mali T880 GPU and a whooping 4GB of RAM. The HTC 10, however, uses the all-new 2.2ghz quad core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset backed up by the brilliant Adreno 530 GPU and the same 4GB of RAM. These two are pretty much matched in power but the HTC 10 has an ace up its sleeve. It has the lowest touch latency of any smartphone on the market.That means the display responds to touch more quickly than other phones, so manipulating on-screen content feels more natural. The difference between the 10 and other leading Android phones like the Galaxy S7 and LG G5 is instantly noticeable.
    Additionally, benchmark-wise, The HTC 10 is the most powerful smartphone on the planet.
    On AnTuTu benchmark tests that I ran, the HTC 10 scored 145,595. For reference, the Xiaomi Mi 5 scores in the 136,000 range, the iPhone 6s scores between 133,000 and 136,000, and the Galaxy S7 in the 134,000 range.
    If that isn't enough Qualcomm's excellent track record with GPUs and app support mean that the Adreno 530 of the HTC 10 could perform a bit better than the Mali T880 of the S7 in GAMING
    S7 Rating;10
    HTC 10 rating:11
    Camera:
    This is pretty awesome for both. The HTC 10 packs a 12MP (HTC UltraPixel™ 2 with 1.55μm pixel), Laser Autofocus, BSI sensor, Optical Image Stabilisation, ƒ/1.8 aperture and 26mm focal length (80° wide angle), Dual tone LED flash and 4K video rercording. The S7 has a 12 MP, f/1.7, 26mm, phase detection autofocus, OIS, LED flash, 1.4 µm pixel size camera. Judging from the specs, the HTC 10 should have a slightly better camera or at least equal but everyone says the S7 takes slightly better pictures. I say, these are probably software issues that HTC will iron out with an update, so the S7's victory could be short lived. Also the Super AMOLED display of the S7 makes everything look better. Perhaps it makes it pictures look better than they actually are. This is speculation though and the S7 takes a narrow win, for now, anyway.
    S7 Rating; 10
    HTC 10 RATING:9
    Interface/UI:
    HTC 10 rating: 10
    S7 Rating: 8
    Price:
    Both phones are the same price but given that Samsung is more popular with the masses, the HTC 10 is likely to become cheaper than it with its lesser-known brand name which will allow its prices to dip lower than Samsung's big gun.

      @danielm5633 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      no, the 10 gets a 10 in performance because you can't go above 10 and UI is subjective because they perform the same which means it's up to looks which is subjective so they both get a 10 so they are tied

    • @jungenwerthers
      @jungenwerthers 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Shadow Slayer It gets an 11 in performance because it performs better than S7 but I can't give S7 a 9 because that makes it feel like it doesn't perform perfectly, which it does. So S7 gets a 10 and HTC 10 gets an 11 to indicate it performs better. UI IS subjective but there are some things the vast majority prefer over others and there are some UI elements which are definitely positives. The majority say Sense is better than Touchwiz. It is brilliant and I have to agree. As I said, design "is obviously quite a matter of preference there are still some design elements that are superior to others and excellent build quality cannot be denied. These are two of the best designed phones on the market". However, PRACTICALITY of design is NOT subjective. It's like a house made of glass and a house made of brick. The house made of glass might look better but it obviously isn't practical and won't last as long. The house made of brick might be less flashy, but it's solid and strong and just...more practical. Such are the designs of the S7 and the HTC 10. If you posted with the intention of being a suck-up Samsung fanboy, it would've been better if you did not post at all. Just accept it, the HTC 10 is greater than the S7.

      Caleb K-Johnson sorry, i can't. It might be because i need a better camera and the htc 10 isn't delivering, that might be why i put the s7 so high, i do not prefer Samsung over HTC (i bought the m9 before i bought the note 5 because i thought i could live with the frankly garbage m9 camera but once i used it for a while it pissed me off so much that i had to return it). I want to love the 10 because of how much better it is then the m9 but it still doesn't have a good enough camera, if the HTC 11 has a better camera than the s8 then I'm switching to HTC (unless some ither phone has a better one) but until that happens, i can't.
      One more thing, the 10 has a Adreno 550

    HTC 10. The fact that it's sold unlocked, has an unlockable bootloader, near stock Android, faster updates, and better audio trumps the S7's waterproofing, Samsung pay, and slightly better camera for me.

    • @geetarwanabe
      @geetarwanabe 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Soundtallica in Chains You can buy the S7 unlocked if you want. Updates are once in a blue moon. How often do you actually listen to your phone without headphones? Like once a month for me. So really it's down to stock android and a bootloader. If that's your thing then go for it.
      I personally have an unlocked s7, actually use the better camera every day, use samsung pay every other day, use wireless charging every day and it's very nice not to care if it's pissing down with rain when I'm out jogging. (Considering I'm from Scotland, having a waterproof phone is prettyyyy important)

    • @BoxCarBoy12
      @BoxCarBoy12 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      geetarwanabe To each his own. However, the unlocked S7 is missing quite a few LTE bands for the carriers here in the US, which makes that a no-go for me. And about the speakers, I use them quite a bit. Not necessarily for music, but I'm too lazy to go through the trouble of connecting earphones just for a quick TH-cam video or game.

I tend to go out a lot so I will need a good brightness of the screen. and also I like darker blacks in my screen, it makes pictures looks better (personal taste). and I'm also a heavy user of camera on my smartphone, and so far the best one is S7's. the feature, the autofocus, the quality, it's just better than any smartphone. but other than camera and screen, HTC 10 is the king

      not even close in my shop where I sell hundreds of phones Galaxy S7 Edge beats the HTC 10 most people prefer pretty much everything about the Galaxy phone including how it feels and a hand. The Galaxy S7 Edge has to be glass or the wireless fast charging will not work. When you have aluminum you can't do wireless fast charging..
      the Galaxy S7 Edge screen and amoled screens are the future life like, Inky blacks, and no motion blur that LCDs and Retina Display suffers from when it comes to fast action movies, games.. The Edge screen brings you closer into movies, videos, and games that the HTC 10 and Apple iPhones cannot come close to
      even Apple has said that they are changing to the AMOLED screens such as the Galaxy S7 Edge has for the future they said it will be in the iPhone eat because I recognized the better screen performance, better battery life and everything else
      Galaxy S7 Edge and Samsung truly in always ahead of the times hardware and software
      everybody else always looking in the rearview mirror

    • @muzikmon2267
      @muzikmon2267 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Zach Vaught the Galaxy S7 Edge in my opinion looks better and feels better in the hand to me and most of the people in my shop. the edges on both side is amazing when it comes to this 5.5 inch screen at only 76% screen to body ratio... CRAZY
      the only reason I would say the HTC 10 feels better in the hand because it's smaller @ 5.2 inch screen..
      as for the audio all audio on phones suck anyways that includes HTC I'm talking about from the speaker. there's no excuse not to have mono or stereo Bluetooth speaker or headphones
      as for the audio out of the jack there are some things that matter something that don't the difference between the two through the audio jack is negligible you cannot tell the difference..
      as for the fast charging yes the HTC chose to use the different Qualcomm 3.0 port it does charge faster but at the expense of long-term battery life if a battery heats up too much especially if you're using your phone when your fast charging you will significantly decrease your battery life Qualcomm 2.0 is fast enough for the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge keeps the battery not as hot.. Samsung chose to stick with a 2.0 so people would not have to buy new charger ports. all considered it's better to stick with the 2.0 Qualcomm
      you cannot charge wirelessly through aluminum that's why I Samsung used glass.. Samsung makes fast chargers for wireless also
      you can disable most of the bloatware there's bloatware on HTC 2 the new marshmallow operating system and Touchwiz is seamlessly awesome with plenty of unbelievable features I just love
      you can also download any launcher you want the Google vanilla launcher, iOS launcher, my favorite is the Nova Launcher you get all the smoothies and customizations you need you don't have to stick with HTC launcher or TouchWiz if you don't want to but TouchWiz is really good now..

    nothing out there can compare with HTC sound, design, speed and Android SENSE, i used to sell smartphones and i can say SENSE is the best, smoother and quicker out there

    • @pete3198
      @pete3198 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Javier Rodriguez Sense has always been an unstable mess - I've owned a ton of HTC phones (probably around 7 of them all up) in the past and every single one of them has been unstable and filled with bugs. They ran smoothly sure - when they weren't freezing, crashing apps and rebooting themselves.
      The HTC 10's design is also far fromt he best. There is no consistency in it's design at all - the rear looks like a HTC, the front looks like a complete S7 rip off with the overall shape of the device as well as the design/position of the fingerprint sensor. Likewise the sharp, chambered design of the rear of the phone is completely at odds with the smoother, dark, curved design of the front of the phone. Completely nonsensical design.
      The Z5 Premium and S7 Edge both are far superior in their design's, and the S7 is also a better a significantly better overall device. Hell I have hated Samsung phones my entire life, and even I struggle to come up with an argument against the S7 Edge, it's just THAT good a device. Which is why I am going to pick one up today.

      @pete3198 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The nature of your response makes it blatantly obvious that you are a 15 yearr old child - or at the very least that you have the maturity of one.
      I have owned every flagship HTC phone starting from the Windows based HD2, through to the HTC Velocity (first 4G phone), and up until the One M7.
      The M7 was an amazing device on paper - it had everything. It was probably the first Android device ever to have a genuine high end feel to it's design, it revolutionised sound on phones with the boomsound speakers, it has the best display on the market hands down, and it was the first Android phone ever which truly ran perfecty smooth and lag free.
      But after long terms use, you start to learn that many of the things that were great on paper, werent designed all that well for the long haul.
      The metal seemed a joy on the shop floor, but it lacked durability - after a few drops it would end up covered in dings and chips that could not be repaired...and the slippery metal body made it very hard to hold/use one handed.
      The camera seemed great on paper, and in teal life it was fine for small images - but if you ever wanted a large high res shot, it was unable to provide that.
      The software ran smoothly, but had silly limitations such as only being able to use a max of 5 home screens (when Android natively supported up to 7).
      The inbuilt HTC browser was a dog and used to crashe constantly, especially later after some of the later software updates.
      The phone hung on me numerous times, requiring a hard reset each time.
      It was a phone that was at its best showing off in the phone shop, that (in real world use) got worse and worse the more you got to know it.
      The problem is that i had that same problem worth the 2-3 HTC phones i owned before it too.
      If you want to believe that i am making up stories because you think i have nothing better to do, then think what you want. I've got enough experience with all the major brands to know what I'm talking about, so i really don't care what you think in all honestly.

      Javier Rodriguez No, I think you're 15 because responding the way you did (by accusing somebody of lying about owning something just because they disagree with you) is an incredibly immature response. As is suggesting that I bought my phone somewhere dodgy. They are the type of responses I would expect from a 15 year old teenager who doesn't grasp the concept of mature conversation.
      The language has nothing to do with it - I am not one to judge somebody for grammar on an international online forum/resource.
      You have apparently had two HTC phone (the M7 and M8), and you you even admit the M7 had issues with the camera crashing...
      Yet you question my credibility when I've owned numerous HTC devices and seem to have more experience with the brand then you do. But apparently my claims of HTC phones having software issues are ludicrous.
      Right.

    Both fantastic devices. Samsung's camera offering is a tad better.. but that's nothing HTC's software team can't fix. so overall it comes down to HTC faster updates better overall sound quality / build quality that will not smash in to a million pieces. HTC sense software is by far the best skin over Android never bogging down after a month compared with dreaded touchwiz software. this is another year HTC can take my money.

      1980iar thanks you sir. I cannot use another touchwiz software product until they improve on updates.. and the actual touchwiz it's self. Touchwiz is still freezing and lagging on the s7 even will 4gb of ram ! Samsung are lazy coders period.

    S7 takes the cake for me

    It's simple..
    HTC 10: 2.5 GBs of Ram available for the user, an almost stock android experience and a metal body for more protection. Also a deal on updates between Google and HTC, which means HTC phones getting the latest software in less than 30 days after release.
    S7: 2.2GBs of Ram available (I've seen some s7 with less than 1.5GBs free) for the user, with lots of bloatware, a fingerprint magnet on its back and guaranteed lag after a few months. Also, updates may never come.
    Come on guys. Let's be honest. Samsung makes gorgeous looking phones who seem promising but that's all..

      +mitilini6 About the HTC and Google deal, does it include carrier versions? My Verizon Moto X won't receive the Android 6.0+ update while the Pure edition can. And I don't want this to repeat with the HTC 10.

      Ventroid What I've read is..HTC made a deal with Google to get the latest updates in 30 days tops after release and also, they are making the two new nexus devices this year.
      HTC is trying to be a top firm like it was back in 2013 with the M7.
      Google, sees HTC as an easy way to the smartphones market. If the next nexus devices fail then they'll buy HTC very cheap and be like Apple (their own device made specifically for android).
      You shouldn't have any problems with the HTC 10.
      Now about carriers. In my country and generally in the EU, carriers mostly sell unlocked phones which means that as soon as an update is out, everyone gets it.
      In the US on the other hand, carriers tend to fuck you up by selling you some devices cheaper but not sending you new updates, before they've installed their bloatware.
      Buy an unlocked device and then use any carrier you like.
