I was there at that march what a sight proud to be there.met Annis once what a gent, before I met I was nervous I was a fan coming from the sticks on my own to get a ticket off him with his rep. Walked into Maveriks pub He welcomed me with open arms also met Cheggs another good lad. Great podcast

Great interview and a real eye opener. Annis sounds like a top bloke who would be great company on a night out (Caerphilly would welcome you fella). I agree with you 100% that family is everything. My father died 23 years ago and I still fill up now when I think about him. I started following the City in 1969 and the 70's was my time. My favourite away days were London trips on the train. Some dodgy moments along the way but nothing beats the buzz and the excitement of going behind enemy lines and coming home with everything still in tact and 3 points (or 2 as it was then) in the bag.

I've read a few of Annis books. This interview was great, for me the Sam Hammam years was a great time for our club because he brought a feel good factor all around the place. I'm a bit older than Annis so I remember a lot of the past times he talked about. And I share his hatred of the red rebrand and the feeling of emotion and relief when eventually our blue returned. I feel the future is uncertain at the moment and hope that a new owner arrives sooner rather than later. 💙

Great interview and loved all the stories. I’ve been watching Cardiff for 40 years (I’m 52) I support Celtic also due to my Irish heritage. Just a quick question for Annis, apart from the sun, sea & sangria would you move to Santa Ponsa when it’s always full of Celtic fans ( in season anyway)?

Never met annis but I have some family that knew him and used to go to away games with him, always heard he’s a great guy and this interview shows it

Loved listening to this podcast, im English but mums welsh and have the same values when supporting both as him. But lived in moscow and Belgrade over the years and what he was saying about visiting Serbia was bang on, this guy is proper.

Lived in Cardiff in the early to mid 90's and was a regular on the Bob Bank and many away games .....the Roger Hansbury and Eddie May days. My other link to this story is my father was the Bass player in the residential bands at one of Annis father's clubs Cleopatras In Newport In the 70's

I remember 2004 at the Hawthornes when Cardiff underestimated the Albion. But for me the best firm from Wales and the West Country was easily Bristol City.
@@matthewarmitage6681 mate I’m Albion myself and yes Cardiff did underestimate us that day. But Cardiff have always been a top 5 firm. Bristol were good but not on Cardiff’s level, Cardiff had serious numbers in the 90s.

If you have ever been a lad or have a scooby this is quality, had some proper rows in the lower league with Ointment, 80s. 90s, and 000s and then when I moved over Bradford way so got to meet some of them. i moved over to set up a dance music distribution company at the beginning of the rave scene. I'm Scunthorpe Utd, we once had a club, our demise has been tragic. Its funny how as we get older the lads who's clothes we used to rip off are now lads wed gladly share a drink with. Loved this podcast, nothing but respect for this mans story, I had a lump in my throat when he discussed his Dad I lost mine when I was a kid he was also my hero.
Met Annis in Newcastle that night in the pub he mentions. I was with his friend dibs. Met a lot of top cardiff lads that night mikey dye and a few others. Annis is 100% correct what happened by the strawberry and club shop. I was outside shearers bar also met Annis and cheggers after the game too. Nobody would of touched that mob if all walked to ground together. Best mob in Newcastle I’ve seen hope u see this Annis. Genuine and honest fan.

Annis is a one off. Football hooligan, but clearly a very honest and decent man with a good head on his shoulders who wears his heart on his sleeve.
I’m Irish, I’m an Inter Milan fan, I’d call myself a medium Celtic fan, My father was a Royal Marine, 42 commando, I’m ex Irish defence forces, I also believe in a united Ireland, I don’t believe in the IRA or bigotry, or anything anti British, I don’t believe in killing innocent people for a cause, I have been on holidays and drank with people who call themselves northern Irish, that have UVF and UDA tattoos, I don’t hate them, it’s there right to feel that way, I’ve no problem with it, but I don’t like bigotry, from anyone, but don’t call an Irishman British, we ain’t British, northern Irish people are British, Irish people in the north are not British, Irish and British history is complicated, as is this comment 😂,
Great podcast, really enjoyed the conversation. Me and my mates used to go to the city with Annis late 90s, until we got banned. Only been to the new stadium a few times. It’s awful, modern football in the UK has sold its soul. One thing I don’t get with Annis tho and a lot of the lads is they say they’re not into politics but go along with the BLM knee benders and the LGBTQ rainbow flags. They are political movements yet lads seem to turn a blind eye to their agendas yet criticise Celtic. Anyway another reason I can’t stand modern football and the hypocrisy and subversion

Big difference between Scottish Celtic fans and Irish Celtic fans. I served in the armed forces with plenty of Scottish Celtic fans who are more than proud to wear a poppy and attend services, they are ashamed and disgusted at how their club has been hijacked .
Sam Hamman days were the best.
He brought life to Ninian Park.
Gave us hope and sold us a dream.

From Huddersfield I'd heard about a millionaire nightclub owner from Cardiff going with Bradford years ago , what I never heard was he was a passionate football fan . He's the sort of lad who would sit down with anyone and talk football " unless you're a jack ' 😂

I dont fault Annis's loyalty to the club but the worst thing Cardiff / Sam Hammam did was to give this guy a voice and to be some sort of fans representative. A criminal who is only interested in himself and providing himself with the publicity that he desires. His continued involvement in secret meetings with the clubs personnel and then his subsequent leaks of the meetings minutes on his own website just goes to show what sort of man he is. Yes he has lived an interesting life and is worthy of a 2 hour podcast but lets not kid ourselves and think that this guy represents Cardiff fans as a whole. He is nothing but a nuisance.
