This week we are joined by Bernard O'Mahoney for his first ever podcast appearance! Bernard shares stories from his childhood, his time in South Africa to how he ended up on the door at Raquel's nightclub in Basildon.
Bernard reveals the details of his relationship with with The Krays, Tony Tucker, Pat Tate, Craig Rolfe and many more.
In this episode Bernard shares his side of the story from Leah Betts's tragic death, the Essex Boys shootings, history with Carlton Leach and much more.

A 'very special guest' who you are 'honoured' to have on the show. The man who once beat me up and broke my ribs completely unprovoked. I worked at Raquels through a promoter. Bernie was a brutal piece of work who didn't take any responsibility for his actions. The triple killing took place at the back of my brother's house in Rettendon. Maybe you'd like to have us both on. I am now a professional trauma specialist and work with men from tough backgrounds.

So just wondering . What did you do to get to upset him . ? We only have your word for it . Of course I'm not saying you are lieing but then people love to jump on anything to do with being associated with the Essex Boys etc .
Just interested. You say the Essex boys were shot behind your brothers house ? It was all fields . Looks nothing now like it did then . So did he hear the gunshots ? Was he the Farmer who found them ?
@@donnaecroyd2473 I had no idea that the 'Essex Boys' was a thing until I moved to Australia in 1999 and saw the film in a rental shop. It certainly holds no glamour for me. There is a council estate in Rettendon. It was behind there.

I’m truly happy folk can see the true BOM he’s been getting slagged of for years because of jealousy and his ability to make an honest buck through using his brain. I seen him on Irish prime time TV and he came across as an honest sort warts and all. He’s been and seen and little warriors slag him of because some football lout says he’s this and that. Nobody who watched this podcast can doubt his honesty. Best of luck to you Bernie the IRISH.

don't listen to Bernie on Steele and Whomes. They got done in court on the testimony of a super grass not more. Somehow they left no forensics in the range or in the alleged get away vehicle of the super grass. End of day a lot of serious ppl had issues with tucker/tate and its poss the Canning Town ppl called in a favour with Steele. The phone masts were proven to be false/far away from site - all that evidence was manipulated by the old billies. No actual forensics - in USA it would have got thrown out by the Judge.

Further, the timeline does not work the range would never been able to make to the lane for 7pm. New detectives prove it. Also expert forensics say only 1 Shottie used not 2. Nicholls is a proven lier and was a super grass the whole time. Canning Town firm had Essex DCs on the payroll. Whomes and Steele hated for getting away with imports. Close enough to tate/tucker = they got fitted like a kitchen sink.
Anyway top man Mr Stone - bit of legend you are sir.
Listening to the words of Bernard O'Mahoney has really changed my perspective on the whole Essex Boys case, filling in some of the details. I'm also pleased to have realised who the third person standing in that photo is.

I’ve met Bernie 2 or 3 times when he lived in Bham. Found him to be a really nice bloke and found his stories fascinating. Great podcast Terry, superbly put together and very professional. I’d go as far as it’s the best of its genre out there. Your style of letting your guests speak rather than butting in and constantly speaking about yourself is refreshing. Wish you every success with the podcasts.

I worked Raquels one night and it was one of the worst clubs I had seen in my life !
There was four rucks in the first hour. Everyone thought they was a gangster. The women were as tough as the men and most of them had even more tattoos.
Thankfully the manager Keith Bonsor did not want me back so I got out and never returned.
I had a very lucky escape !

Terry, this podcast was fantastic. You performed like a seasoned interviewer, not being afraid to ask question that could have proved difficult or awkward, you let Bernard talk, you listened & led into the answer or next question.
If this is number 1 in your new series, then i cant wait to see you develop & grow the channel.
I have seen many of your films, i loved ROTFS & the sequels, the way you played Tony was fantastic, obviously I dont know Tony, but felt like I knew the Terry version of Tony & some of those scenes with Roland were pure comedic gold (the trip in the camper from Amsterdam 😂)
My favourite films with you starring, is definitely 'Once upon a time in London'. Real drama, fantastic acting & one you should be very proud of.

We all have very similar life stories, but its still always interesting to hear the other blokes, that helps us reflect upon our own.
Fascinating. Like most, I'm not involved in this world but know someone close who is. He's not online anywhere st all, but when i play him these videos, he sits, listens, nods and chuckles occasionally. He shooshes me when i ask why, lol. After he just says, these boys are on a different level to me, Scott. But the story's are always the same. Tough guys, boxing/doorwork, contacts, drugs, violence, payback, prison/hospital, blah, blah...

It's wild how each time i go on a true crime binge Ipswich comes up and I'm bowled over by how much was going on around me when i lived there blissfully unaware xD Great episode! Vinny definitely did the charm of Bernard well :)
