    #MWO (#MechwarriorOnline) by Piranha Games. Free to play at mwomercs.com. MechWarrior Online is a free-to-play vehicular combat video game, officially launched during September 2013 by Piranha Games for Microsoft Windows. The game takes place within the larger #BattleTech universe. In MechWarrior: Online, players takes the role of a ""MechWarrior"" who pilots large bipedal combat vehicles known as BattleMechs (Mech for short). Players can customize their BattleMech with an array of weapons and equipment, and engage in 12 versus 12 battles, the outcome of which earns the players experience and c-bills for future BattleMech purchases and customization. There are currently seven game modes that involve protecting and attacking a single base (Assault), capturing and holding several points (Conquest), take and hold the center of the map (Domination), attacking a space defense system (Siege/Counter-Attack), protecting and attacking field bases with turrets and walls spread across the map (Incursion), and team death-match (Skirmish).

    I always thought the volume thing was on purpose. It's simulating the hearing loss suffered by artillery crews or anyone firing a gun without adequate hearing protection. So the first shot is loud, and sounds are slightly muffled there after.

    Proto/lights are good to squeeze in one more gun or for lighter mechs... if you can fit regs or uacs you probably should....

      This, the askum can take regular ac’s with no problem. I use 5 on a huntsman and it puts in work. Also on my new cicada, 2 5’s and an large pulse just dumps damage.

    So far -LAC5x2 might be a replacement for AC10X1, as you save 2 tones, but the AC10 is faster cooldown and less heat. Proto AC2 projectile speed is similar speed to CERPPC/CPC, but feels kind of bad as a complimentary at this point, but hey 🤷. These have been my best uses for the new ACs. I think PACs could use quicker cooldowns, and LACs need less heat, but we shall see what happens in the next weeks.
    Good Vid.

    @foamyesque หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    As they are right now the only real niche I can see for PACs is if you have one ballistic slot and extremely limited tonnage -- i.e, the ProtoMech scenario. As soon as you start boating you could get better results by going to the original flavours. Given how many Clan mechs are omnis getting stuck with one ballistic and no better options in energy or missiles is pretty rare.

    TTB for brawling try 8 Proto AC 8 or Proto AC 4's on a Ultraviolet. Chain Fire in two Groups of 4 with maxed cooldown. Have an Annihilator with 6 Light AC 5's, good results. Keeps the rock and roll and damage is brutal. As I like to go short to mid range, it fits my playstyle well. Am I top tier? Far from it, but these are fun in my opinion. Keep up the good work, I love some German Mechgineering!

    • @LavaDa1shi

      6lac5s on the annihilator is very underpowered, you can easily fit 4lac5 2ac10 and a lppc on the annihilator.

    proto ac are for mechs that have the hardpoints but lack the weight, so mediums and light heavys, like rifleman IIc-2 with 6 proto ac4

    • @TTBprime
      @TTBprime  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The Rifleman IIC can run 6 AC2 which offers 30%+ more DPS than 6PAC4 at almost 2x the range. It's a no contest. Like you said, I can only see them as tonnage dump for one ballistics slot where possible.

  • @Paladin357
    @Paladin357 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I think LACs and PACs are best suited for lighter, more maneuverable mechs. A big heavy or assault mech, especially a sniper, can use regular ACs and get better results. But if you don't have the tonnage for the regular version and are not going to stare for DPS, the lighter versions may make sense.

    I am not really happen with any of the new weapons, TBH. The only really decent ones are the continuous beam lasers and the SB guass. I trued boating the lacs/protos in a few configurations and decided that I was better off running half the number of UAC5s or 2s. Had a 4xproto 8 Howl build that was kind of fun, but that is a waste of some perfectly good quirks... and a 4UAC5 Fafnir with magshots is better than boating a mix of LAC5s and 2s. Tried a Jaegermech with 4 LAC 5s, but 2UAC5s are better.

  • @memnarch129
    @memnarch129 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Here is the thing. Proto ACs, and Light ACs where never meant for Heavy or Assault Mechs. Yes you can run them on them but when you can get the same number of normal AC2s/5s/etc then yes they are not worth it. They where designed to give Lights/Protomechs a equivelent weapon system but trading range/cooldown for less tonnage and space.
    Thats the problem in MWO and a bit with the MWO mindset. Of course you can put anything on anything, but if OG Battletech wise it wasnt designed to go on somthing its going to look very under powered. They are good as a alternative to MG or spamming on lights/Mediums. Of course they will be miserably bad on 100 Ton assaults that could easily boat normal AC 2s or even AC 10s.

  • @gronthgronth2628

    Overall i would say that weaponwise this patch is a letdown. There is rarely if ever a reason to use the newly added weapons over existing loadouts.

  • @SheyD78
    @SheyD78 หลายเดือนก่อน

    To an untrained eye they look functionally identical to standard AC 2s. With lower damage, range and velocity there just isn't a reason to have them. Maybe if you were stuggling to fit a full ac2 loadout on a smaller mech? Super unneccessary overall it seems.

    • @wormysxl
      @wormysxl หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think that is exactly the use case... Lighter mechs with bigger ac alphas, and updating old loadouts that had ac2s or 5s and you want more speed or sensors or jump jets or armor

      One of the new weapons that shipped in this month's patch, full name Protomech Autocannon.
      Tabletop fluff-wise, the clans developed Protomechs, essentially 10 ton or less mini mechs, and the proto autocannons were made for protos to use, though most any unit could mount them. They are low caliber short barreled versions of standard autocannons, with less damage and lower range but significantly less weight. In tabletop they can also use specialty ammo like standard IS autocannons can.

    • @caradellinowazer2988
      @caradellinowazer2988 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Some lore: Protomech were a Clan thing, filling the gap between mechs and elementals. Consider them as ultra light battlemech, hence the need for smaller and lighter versions of the weapons arsenal.

    TBR-H (set of 8): 3xPAC8, 4xSRM6A, 1xJJ, XL350
    Kind of like the classic 1xLB20X, 4xSRM6A Orion IIC-A, but you get a little more ballistic punch.

    So again my Argument for the Aksum nerf is proven right that it was too much. Proto's were supposed to be the answer for AC 2s or Ultra's because of heat. Sure...no heat...means no damage. Proto's are crap so is the Aksum nerf. I still do way more damage and kills with my SR-4 with x6 Ultra 2s. I even did a little experiment. I took 2 ultras off the Aksum and ran with more heat sinks and ammo. I SHOULD have theoretically did more damage with less heat...this was not the case...less damage same heat...just half a sec better dissipation. Hard points do not make a mech overpowered. What you all see this mechs greatest strength is it's greatest weakness....Hit a crit on left or right torso with FULL AMOR and you lose half your weapons or all and then you are noting but a walking stick!!!

      I have literally seen a guy doing 3-4 games in a row at 1300+ in that thing, including those where the team was totally inferior and got stomped in a couple of minutes. Definitely too much both burst and sustained firepower.

      PACs are crap though.
      They'll getting buffed.

    • @jalakor
      @jalakor หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Dude the Aksum just doesn’t need heat quirks. Its 8 AC2/UAC2 builds aren’t that hot, and if they do get hot, it’s from shooting in a sustained manner… I think you’re just being silly. If you’re basing your opinion off this PAC2 build, you’re really smoking somethin dude. The Proto AC’s are kinda trash to begin with right now, it doesn’t matter how the Aksum runs them. It’s not broken, so don’t “fix” it.
      Edit: your “test” with the SR-4 can literally be attested to luck of the draw. 8 AC2s will more likely do more damage than 6, and if you failed to do so, it’s either just a less than ideal match, a skill issue, or a mix of the two. I don’t get why you’re so dogmatic about this issue haha

    • @Matterian
      @Matterian หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jalakor DUDE if this doesn't then none of the mechs in game do. Your comment makes no sense and has no weight or merit. Positioning or hardpoints do not make this mech "AWESOME" try peaking with just your torso...it gets obliterated. Hard points do not make a mech great or awesome.

    • @jalakor
      @jalakor หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Matterian sure they do, AC2’s barely produce heat, and the fact that the Aksum does have a limit based on sustained heat gain is just fine. The amount of hard points on a mech simply gives options, and I never said it made it OP or anything. I said the mech is fine as it is and I don’t believe a quirk buff is necessary.
