#MWO (#MechwarriorOnline) by Piranha Games. Free to play at mwomercs.com. MechWarrior Online is a free-to-play vehicular combat video game, officially launched during September 2013 by Piranha Games for Microsoft Windows. The game takes place within the larger #BattleTech universe. In MechWarrior: Online, players takes the role of a ""MechWarrior"" who pilots large bipedal combat vehicles known as BattleMechs (Mech for short). Players can customize their BattleMech with an array of weapons and equipment, and engage in 12 versus 12 battles, the outcome of which earns the players experience and c-bills for future BattleMech purchases and customization. There are currently seven game modes that involve protecting and attacking a single base (Assault), capturing and holding several points (Conquest), take and hold the center of the map (Domination), attacking a space defense system (Siege/Counter-Attack), protecting and attacking field bases with turrets and walls spread across the map (Incursion), and team death-match (Skirmish). - เกม

The duality of LRM Boat:
It feels like they do a lot of damage when your shot by them.
It feels like they're doing no damage when your hitting things with them.
It feels like they take no skill to use when someone else is using them.
It feels like they're the most annoying and hardest thing to play good when you're using them.
word
Preach.
As a filthy LRM main, can confirm this to be 100% true.
LRMs are great for punishing ppl for bad positioning
target have to be in direct line of sight (or under UAV) for long enough to be locked on and hit by the rockets (which travel slooooow)
so stay in cover, hit those UAVs, and peak only to shoot or push with your team.
If this doesnt help, get ECM and some AMS. (take ecm anyway if you can, its never not worth it).
as LRM boat in quick play you are pretty much gambling on whenever enemy decides to be stupid.
tldr.: git gud
LRM boat require no aim skills, yet much positioning skills.
I am mixed on them. In some matches, I've been positioned properly to use them and had 4x Beam Laser only builds hit 900-1100 damage matches. Other games feel like I can eat people alive and get next to no points for it. But they are a lot of fun. But always remember, the Flamer Dissipation skill on the skill tree ALSO affects Beam Laser dissipation.
Good to know about the Flamer dissipation bar!
Always love seeing the Direwhale Prime's set of eight utilised to max. l)
If you're ever on team TTB in a match, make sure to go opposite to him if there's one enemy left. TTB has the ability to predict where the last guy won't be.
Someone said on the forums that flamer ventilation skill tree helps. Do you know if that is true?
Currently, but there's gonna be a lot of changes to the beam lasers in the next patch
As of their intro, yes. I would expect that to change come the next patch, though.
@TTB You can do the same setup with "ecm" if you play around with the omnipods.
Is it worth the drop in armor to get 16 heat sinks?
Would ecm even really be worth it when you're shining a continuous beacon showing your location?
@@SheyD78 way harder for missles to become a problem
You can run 6 beams but not 7, only prime can run 7 with it's massive -25% heat
I think they are balanced pretty well. Considering how long you have to be on target makes you vulnerable to attack by other enemies. They are definitely not for brawling. The heat rise makes them difficult to use if you are not paying attention, All in all, they are ok but not my type of weapon. Running in 2 or 3 as a pack could make the laser beam user a juicy target:) As they lock and stay locked on a target the pack could do a lot of damage to them. So they are a boon and a scourge depending on the player and his choices as with any other setups.
Yep…they didn’t expect the face melter!
Ramping up the amount of beam lasers to presumably avoid ghost heat is a bug/exploit i assume. Shouldn't you have much more ghost heat for firing more than allowed lasers?
I believe its a known issue they plan on fixing next patch
beam lasers totaly overpowered >_
Does flamer ventillation skill have effect on BL?
I haven't had enough bad experiences with Beam Lasers that weren't due to my bad positioning to really say they're OP, but I also haven't seen any more than like 5 maybe 6 on one 'Mech. I'd say that I think they ought to fix the HSL limit, but maybe that would nerf it into the ground. Perhaps nerfing the optimal range down to around 450-550 would be better, kill it for snipers but still worth it for mid and close range fighters.
I will say, unless you have a fast 'Mech, or the firepower to make the BL user shy away from facing you continually, I imagine it's tough to ward off this type of build. I can't pick how I feel about it, I don't want them to nerf it into obscurity as much as I don't want it to be OP.
Singing Queen lines now? 😂 but really could you make a thunderbolt/ppc build work?
I feel like the beam lasers are good where they are if it wasnt for the fact you can stack so many on assaults with basically no downside to where you can burst down anyone before you need to ramp down
Its hard to judge them when they arent playaing by th rules of all other wepons
as a hitscan weapon they appear to be strong
beam as is working now is buggy, they told they will patch it
in my humble opinion. and i LOVE the beams cause finaly the clans get a stare weapon. but they arent OP cause they are so hot! i cannot kill and assault before i overheat with my beam boat. on the contrary i absolutely can and do consistantly kill fresh assaults with rotory boats. and rotory boats are so simple, just aim and fire and dont stop till they drop. but beams are finicky, u cant fire all at once and if ever u forget that BOOM u are dead. i have killed myself from ghost heat because a light played peekaboo with me and fireing/stopping/fireing the beams in rappid succession triggered the ghost heat. so honestly the beams are very balanced if not in need of a tiny buff like make so can fire 3 without ghost heat so boating them isnt a delicat dance with death
I don't feel their op. You have to expose, for a good time, and that's bad enough. They're meh. As you said, it's the player using them.
My main ride is a Shadow Cat, I hope this vid inspires *lots* more people to use big, hot, slow, facetime machines :v
They are garbage when you play a medium with only 2 of them. They are good when you have a lot of them. But then again, many weapons would be god-tier if they did not have HSL limits.
beam lasers are only strong if you have any aim skills
People dont understand that the way you beat beam lasers is by not letting them stop shooting and spreading via torso twists and JJ quick bursts to abuse multiple hitboxes.
The exponential heat means they can't brawl at all.
Close the gap or snap shot them until you can.
If you go full reet in the open and take a full stare bar to face, yeah -- you're going to think they're broken.
You do the same thing to RACs.
The Highlander, that just got buffed, will crap on these boats all day with "old weapons" that are "obselete" and "not broken."
Yes and no. In T1 even, builds like this can still easily trash even the best torso-twisters, because you'd have to be torso-twisting for between 3 to 7 seconds, *which is damn near impossible out in the open.* people who do attempt to evade beam lasers even in T1 straight up either die to someone else, or if they have nobody else shooting them, are still limbed/lose a side torso. Even in best possible scenario, a flick downward will peel a leg off almost any assault mech instantly.
They aren't broken but especially the upper echelons of T1 torso twisting doesnt beat them. You are correct that they don't brawl, but mid range snipers can very easily shred teams, and i'm seeing a lot of games with people boating beam lasers getting 5-9 kills for their entire team, and common match scores of over 1k most of the time. The worst area for them is the faction warfare, where most of the maps factor either initial starting ranges far in excess of where Beam Lasers are successful, or are so fast at moving to infighting and brawling that they cannot be useful at all. These maps allow perfect and mostly simple range management.
@@THEGRUMPTRUCK so full reet in the open and you dont armor your legs in assault mechs.
Got it.
Guys like ^this one are why you always love tap legs before fully committing to a push, people.
TTB Can you play the Sovereign with 6 LBX2 please?
The build: AMiL
He played the Sovereign already. What I saw him do with that flying dakkaboat was something like over 1400 damage. Had a couple of good fights with him too. ^^
I understand your suggestion for the nerf by tightening the HSL. but as you said in the video, beam lasers are not overpowered throughout the entire match. After such a nerf they are probably too weak
don't nerf the weapons we need to nerf the amount of cooling stacking of 20+ heat sinks. after about 14 or 16 there should be diminishing returns on additional heatsinks. Just my 2cents. The weapons are fine it is just the 100 ton assault mechs that can boat several of them because of their compactness and lightweight. (same goes for LXLP) medium/heavy mechs are not shredding with these weapons it's just the super heavy assault mechs. Don't need to tweak them much just make it so that they can't fire them too long before needing to cool off. It would make people consider alternative weapons.
Incoming skill aahahah yeah, same emotion all the time
