Nice catch. Yeah, that is reversed footage of him pulling the HDMI cable. You can tell if you pay attention to the way his hand moves.
If you have a laptop, you DON'T need the second HDMI port. Just use the one provided with the capture card.
well, I downloaded the drivers straight from the site, plugged it in, opened the software and I got a few flashes of game captures and then it went black. spent 45 mins trying to figure it out on youtube and ended up back here for a 3rd or 4th time. it would have been REALLY helpful to get some basic instructions in the package instead of the useless 'safety instructions' provided. yeah I know it containt small parts and ill try to avaoid eating a bag.... now how to i get the game going?

I’m trying to get my elgato to capture my gaming pc on a second pc through streamlabs.
The capture card setup I have works with PS4 but not my AMD gaming pc.
I’ve tried now for 4 days to get video but all I get is a black screen.

Can we seriously not use Game Capture software on the desktop screen and play and capture the game on the second screen? In other words, anyway to use this extending the screens and not duplicating them?
I'm assuming you're talking about the laptop setup? You can use an extended monitor setup with our capture cards if you use a pass through to an external monitor, and whatever appears on the 2nd screen will be what is recorded . ^Jeff

I have it connected to a second monitor (tv), but it will only record what is on my laptop screen. How do I make it record the second screen instead? I've tried many things, but the only solution seems to be duplicate, which is counterproductive as I'd like to use my laptop screen as control central, and stream the second screen (tv) for gameplay. Using OBS as been my solution for game capture on PC but does this reduce lag off the CPU and GPU as well as improve FPS when capturing gameplay? That has been the main drawback of using OBS sometimes with certain graphic intensive games.
From my understanding, since we're using OBS, using a capture card is 100% pointless, since OBS does the same thing.

my computer can run 1000fps on csgo, i think it can run an elgato :D
You eyes can't even capture more than 60 fps anyway. So being it 60 or 1000 fps, doesn't mean shit :D

FYI: A standard HDMI cable only supports up to 1080p 60FPS. For PC gamers with a 144Hz monitor and a strong enough GPU to push >60FPS, using the HD60 or HD60S as a "passthrough" for your video signal will cause a bottleneck in the frames actually delivered to your monitor; limiting what is displayed to 60FPS.
What do you recommend to make it work if I have a 3090 using a DP connection to my 144hz monitor?

@@ulisescuevas1967 Did you not pay attention? The Elgato HD60s only supports HDMI connections and 1080p passthrough. Too many kids have PCs but don't have the skills to set them up properly.

I'm using my laptop right with now just a hdmi cable connected in the "IN" port of the elgato and my laptop + the USB cable also connected from the elgato to my laptop. But in the "OUT" port i didn't put any hdmi cable and it's still working. Why should we put a hdmi out in a TV Screen?
Anthony it's just if u are playing games on a different monitor it can get the visuals from that but since u are getting visuals from ur pc it doesn't need a tv
Because a desktop computer does not have a screen. There for you have to plug it into another display
so you had 2 HDMI ports running from your PC? (one to your PC monitor, one to your elgato). Did you have both of them plugged into the GPU?

Does it record Mic audio , is the a mic input into the Device ?
Not into the device, if you have a headset or usb mic plug it in the pc and the software should pick it up.

You only need one, one goes from your pc to the capture card, and then another one goes from the capture card into the monitor

What if you are using Display port for a 144hz monitor but want to use the elgato for capturing my screen, but I don't want to loose the 144hz because the hdmi cable can't support 144hz. So how would I record my screen? Do I just sacrifice 144hz?

What is the purpose of the external monitor? Can we do this without it? (I just want to connect my phone to the Elgato and stream mobile games through my laptop via OBS connected to the Elgato.)
@@PeachInDaHood The monitor was for if you were using a PC. If you're recording your phone, do everything as in the tutorial but you don't need an HDMI cable in the output slot of the Elgato.
PLEASE tell me how you make it so the game itself is inside the preview window?! I've tried everything and I can't figure it out. All I get is a preview of my Windows desktop inside the preview window and when I pull up a game like Call of Duty it just MASKS over the Elgato software. Help!
I am trying to upload games and I thinking about purchasing this today. The question many people have is the same question I have. Does the computer HAVE to be plugged in? From an editing perspective, it makes more sense to record the gameplay and then plug it into a computer after finishing. Is this possible?

The Panasonic LUMIX G7 is not compatible with the Elgato HD60S, if used directly. However in my case everything goes through LIVEPRO L1

@@octave1 the computer needs to be on and running for the ps4 screen to have visuals. It uses the computer and displays it back onto your monitor.

btw, I can record or stream or both with the built-in GeForce experience my card already has and the quality is great. the only reason I see to get a capture card is to record/stream consoles or other HDMI shit like a cable box. cuz think of how funny it would be to tune into a random twitch channel to see the live screen of a guy flipping through his program guide on his cable box with a little webcam live stream of him over it watching tv and talking about what he's watching?

I'm planning on getting an HD60S to use for OBS Studio since my old HD60 has a bad 3 second delay when recording PC Games on the OBS Software. Question. Will this definitely work with OBS for PC? There will be no 3 Second delay right? I uploaded a video on my channel for reference.
