I love my Instant pot! My favorite thing to make is a vegan corn chowder recipe I found on Pinterest. I added white pepper to it for my taste, but the recipe is delicious without any adjustment.

The white bean recipe looks delicious. And I was so glad that you shared how you make vegan sausage. Back in elementary school they used to give us the best sausage pizza during lunch. They had what I came to know as fennel seeds in them. Somehow over the years that was actually the part I liked most. Lately I've wanted to make my own meatless sausage and add fennel seeds. So thank you for that. And I'm not sure when but I thought you mentioned that you eat edamame regularly. I've recently started eating edamame as well. I add a teaspoon of Better than Bouillon vegetable base to the water that I boil them in. It's so delicious. Thank you for the inspo on that as well.

I can't wait to try your tempeh recipe...
The IP has changed my life. I have an 8qt one I got from my mom who didn't know how to use it... I kinda wish I got a smaller one because I usually have to double the serving size so nothing burns.
The biggest uses for me are
    1) soak beans overnight and cook them for 15 min! perfect every time, you will NEVER want canned beans again
    2) steam veggies, for example broccoli steams in 0 min (plus the time to cook, etc).
    3) steam sweet potatoes or potatoes! Depending on the size 15-30min
    4) rajma, dal, chana masala, or other legume based stews from indian cooking!! I usually get started in a pan (like onion, garlic, tomato, the spices, etc) and then transfer those + the beans and water and let it cook for 30min. Amazing.
    5) Mushrooms! you can boil mushrooms in the instant pot for 10min, sounds weird but trust me it's great.

If you’re buying an instant pot, get the one with handles on the inner pot. The handles prevent the pot from spinning when you stir. Also, it’s easier to remove the pot when it’s hot. These are great recipes! Can’t wait to try them!

I have made every savory dish in your cookbook and I love them all so I have to say those are my favorite. Now that I’m a female long distance Truck Driver I need to get another instant pot to keep in the truck. I really do miss you on TH-cam and look forward to the next cookbook and video as always☀️🌴

Those plastic flanges on the lid slot into the handles of the pot allowing you to leave the pot open without the lid taking up space on the counter.

My experience with my instant pot is kinda complicated.
I got the 8 quart instant pot lux which is the cheaper version. It has all the same functionality except the yogurt culturing function.
Every time I’ve tried to make rice in it it doesn’t cook properly and have off it comes out inedible.
For one pot meals, I typically just use my Dutch oven instead as it’s much easier to clean. The instant pot would work well if you don’t want to babysit a pot on the stove. But I never find myself using it
The only thing I really use it for is cooking beans. If you cook beans from scratch it is an absolute necessity to have a pressure cooker like the instant pot.
It cooks them so much faster, and more evenly. You don’t even have to soak them beforehand, although I usually still do cause it cuts down on the cook time and gets rid of some of the the hard to digest sugars in beans.
I’ve also never had a burn notice that I can remember, always keeping tomatoes on top without stirring it in like she suggests.
I think I would try steaming vegetables in it if I had the steamer basket but I’ve never gotten one and honestly I think it’d be easier to clean a regular pot of water and a steamer basket.
The instant pot is dishwasher safe and the lid and silicon rings are top rack safe, so can always toss them in there. But idk still not my favorite thing to clean, I’d rather just use a normal pot most of the time.
If I were to buy one again I would get the normal version and the 6 quart size. I honestly might do that and gift mine away

Another good function is you can use it to steam seitan. I never do cause the seitan recipe I follow just needs to be baked but it would be nice if you need to steam your seitan.

I’ve had to reduce and adjust my water ratio to fit my individual instant pot! It’s usually way less that most recipes suggest. I use the trick where you measure it up to your first knuckle, but(!) only halfway up gives me consistently cooked grains. I’ve even mixed it in with soaked green lentils with the rice and it still comes out perfectly cooked. Another key for the rice is to let it sit after releasing the steam! Minimum to let it rest and steam the rice so it’s not mushy.

If you’re using aluminum foil, you should add parchment paper between it, and your food. The aluminum can be an endocrine disrupter. Also you have onion or citrus or vitamin c which can cause a reaction with the metal. So just be careful.

    • @jjlol7457

@@heather5926 There is parchment paper without anything as well, maybe the wax paper could also be used depending on what is used for wax. The paper is a barrier between the metal and food though. The paper bags could also be used like lunch bags etc. as a barrier.

Ugh, really? Youre going to waste your time watching a long video about Instant Pots when there are more important things to focus on... like the devastating impact of animal agriculture on our planet!
As a vegan activist, Im constantly reminded that every single day, millions of animals are being raised and slaughtered for their meat, dairy products, eggs, and other animal-derived foods. Its heartbreaking to think about the suffering and cruelty they endure just so we can satisfy our cravings.
Meanwhile, youre over here worrying about whether your Instant Pot is going to explode or not? Meanwhile, Im trying to change the world... one vegan recipe at a time!
I get it, folks. You love your Instant Pots (or maybe you dont even have one yet?). And hey, Ive got nothing against pressure cookers, per se. But lets keep things in perspective, shall we?
So, heres my take on this video:
    * The first 10 minutes or so are actually pretty interesting. Who knew there were so many tips and tricks to Instant Pot cooking?
    * Then it starts getting a bit too long-winded for my taste. I mean, do you really need to know how to clean the lid of your Instant Pot?
    * And dont even get me started on all the recipe links in the description box! I mean, come on... cant we just focus on one or two recipes at a time?
Anyway, thats my two cents on this video. If youre still here after reading this, thanks for sticking with me!
Now, if youll excuse me, I have more important things to attend to... like saving the planet from animal agriculture!

As a vegan activist, Im disappointed to see a video promoting the use of animal-derived products like dairy and eggs. The video also fails to address the environmental impact of using pressure cookers and other kitchen appliances.
Lets start by addressing the issue of cleaning up after cooking. While its true that using a pressure cooker can make cleanup easier, its not a reason to justify the use of animal-derived products. There are many plant-based alternatives available that can provide the same benefits without contributing to animal suffering or environmental degradation.
Furthermore, the video does not address the issue of food waste and excess packaging that comes with buying pre-cut and processed ingredients. As vegans, we know that reducing our impact on the environment is crucial, and using whole foods and making our own meals from scratch can make a big difference.
Im also concerned about the lack of diversity in the recipes shown in the video. While its great to see people experimenting with new flavors and ingredients, its not enough to simply promote one or two recipes without providing a broader range of options. As vegans, we know that food should be accessible and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of their cultural background or dietary preferences.
Finally, Im disappointed by the lack of emphasis on sustainability in the video. While its great to see people using pressure cookers and other kitchen appliances, its not enough to simply promote their use without addressing the broader issue of food waste and excess packaging that comes with buying pre-cut and processed ingredients. As vegans, we know that reducing our impact on the environment is crucial, and using whole foods and making our own meals from scratch can make a big difference.
Overall, Im disappointed by the lack of emphasis on sustainability and diversity in this video. While its great to see people experimenting with new flavors and ingredients, its not enough to simply promote one or two recipes without providing a broader range of options and addressing the broader issue of food waste and excess packaging.
