    Also, for others, it appears that the two black small O rings go into the float ring (stainless steal ring) to seal it to the driveshaft. A little of silicone grease will help when sliding the stainless ring back onto the driveshaft.

    In the manual, they refer to something as the venturi, it says " remove the 4 screws and then withdraw the venturi". What is that?
    Also, this half metal ring that is golden in color, what does it go between? It seems like from video it goes between the floating ring (metal silver thing) and the carbon ring (black) ....however if it goes in between, how does this push the two together? That is counterintuitive, and seems like it puts a hole in between these two and would allow water in.
    thanks, and GREAT video.

    Great video! wish you could have shown how the driveshaft was removed as I seem to be having issues with it. I will also be replacing my flywheel clutch with this seal repair but it looks like its all fairly simple to put together. Question for you is do you think this repair will be so time consuming that I should just take it to my local shop or could I get two skis done in about 2 hours. im good at repairs just don't have a lot of time.

    • @cbatilo
      @cbatilo  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Start with the ring first... mentioned on 5:09 and 7:09 Then all will be easy to take off. I say do it... you will get satisfaction out of it. But if you are really pressed for time... have the shop do it. Shop do get pricey though... Good luck with the project

    • @JohnsonJLB
      @JohnsonJLB 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      My driveshaft was pretty rusted on the floating ring seemed seized up on it too. I first tried just some wd-40 and penetrating oil along with tapping with a rubber mallet. When that didn't work I moved on to gripping the drive shaft with vice grip pliers and the floating ring with a monkey wrench and/or another set of vice grips, and rotated them in opposite directions to help break free. Still didn't help it move back to get the ring off. So, I gave up on saving the floating ring and took a flathead screwdriver and peeled it up around the lip of the floating ring then more with pliers. Eventually taking a metal hammer to tap the floating ring back and removing the half circle clip. Once that was removed I was able to pull the drive shaft out from the back very easily.

    Hi, I got the same Carbon ring kit as you did. Same jetski. Before I put driveshaft back in to Ski , I decided to see how the Ring Seal Carrier with 2 O-rings installed inside will slide on to the driveshaft. I could not get it done. It just will not go on to driveshaft. Did yours slide relatively easy. What is the trick. It is like my orings eather too big or cut outs for them inside are too small. If I cant slide it onto driveshaft out of ski I know that it will be impossible to get it on once its inside. Thank you.

    • @jasonb1614

      Because a worn carbon ring allows air from inside the ski/engine bay to be sucked into the tunnel under the ski causing cavitation.

      @NC-sm8pc 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      cbatilo how fast/how much water was getting in? I put one of my 97 xp 800's in the water recently and it took on a ridiculous amount of water after just a few minutes. Could this be the problem? I checked the pitot tubes/siphon tubes, and they dont seem loose or anything. They're white, meaning they're probably the original tubes and haven't been changed. But they seem to be fine, unless one of them has a huge leak. I dont think its a crack in the hull, did a quick water test and ill be doing another one this weekend. Any ideas would be helpful

    • @NC-sm8pc
      @NC-sm8pc 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anthony Miller Thank you for the fast reply!! I was told by the dealer that everything was fine with the plugs etc. I'll check this weekend, and make sure the rings are tight, and hopefully find exactly where the water is coming in. I dont think it leaks when its just sitting in the water, only when its moving. The only thing I can think of that would cause this would be the siphon tubes, but they look just fine.. Thanks either way!
