Thanks for not making the typical long, drawn out, terrible how to video, full of useless information. To the point and helpful. Creative approach. Good job 👍🏼

If I recall, I just put the pump back on and that holds the driveshaft for me. No need for the block of wood nor a special tool. I just did the carbon ring before the pump came off and then I assembled it last. I do love the lever method. I was dumb and mad on my first teardown and ruined the carbon seal by hitting it with a hammer, very bad idea although they are relatively cheap. Good video brother!

I think my 97s had bumpers on both ends of the shaft but I don’t remember if the 03 GTX had one on the back.

I would think the hose clamps would cause the shaft to be unbalanced? Unless the clamps are stationary and don't spin they would be OK in that case. I've gotta pull my shaft cause I sucked 2 huge rocks that lodged themselves into the impeller. Replaced impeller and ring and still having cavitation issues. I think I might have a slight wobble... thanks for the video and tips on how to remove.. much appreciated

yeah all hose clamps are stationary. uggh that sucks! the driveshaft is pretty beefy. i cant imagine throwing the shaft itself out of balance. very strange. Let me know how that turns out. curious for my own sake if that ever happens to me.

I pulled the half ring out but my shaft won't come all the way out. I can pull it out a little away but not all the way out. Am I missing something. I'm doing it by myself so I can't see what's holding it from coming out. Any help would be appreciated.😱

it's probably rust and corrosion on that ring and/or the shaft. did you make some kind of tool to yank the driveshaft back? just more force at this point. maybe penetrating oil and let it sit for the night or if you wanna be really careful spray some POR-15 metal prep which is a mild acid to dissolve the rust on the exposed shaft. i'm guessing you pulled the clip, slid it back about half an inch, and then hit the rust and that's where it's snagging. either any of those options or just keep at it with light repetitive motions. get a slide hammer or some other kind of light tapping method.

What are the sizes of that alu thing? 😊

Also. Couldn’t you just mount jet and then install c clip? Instead of that wooden block.

@@Ajdjdncjekskf you could try it, i guess. if you do let me know how that works out. My guess would be the shaft is meant to float in there a bit so you might not get the forward pressure you need. As far as the aluminum piece it was 2" by 1" rectangle. might be better off with steel.

Chris Iversen I used a wooden stick of a broom. Worked perfectly. Also, I just mounted the jet. No problems, keeps it perfectly in its place :).
