      @@Pece73in my experience, if you get it and it fits right, it is absolutely awesome, great resolution, colors, fit etc etc. but it has around quest 2 field of view, lens fogging issues when you first put the headset on, and mild comfort issues with the soft strap and face gasket (occasionally). also a small sweet spot, with poor edge to edge clarity.

You'll have to keep us informed if you manage to get one, they can't be cheap surely I was just saying in the main comments I saw a setup the other day it was over 10 grand I couldn't believe it. My view with sim racing has been that even if it makes you slower, if the immersion and "realism" is higher it is infinitely worth it as at the end of the day you are trying to simulate real life. Now i have to see if i have an extra 40k lying around somewhere.

      Purely depends on what you want to get out of it. You certainly don't need something like this to have a good time, but I'm glad things like this exist!

      Unless your a real race driver, your just playing a game, pretending you know what your doing, in that case immersion is absolutely number 1.

    When it comes to nausea with VR, my understanding is that it happens because there is a disconnect between what your brain is being told by your eyes and your body. Apparently having even a minor bit of movement of your body that matches what your eyes are telling you is enough to reduce the risk of developing it. So combining VR with a moving rig should theoretically eliminate the motion sickness.

    • @boostedmedia
      @boostedmedia  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +15

      Yep I'd say thats true in my experience. The motion needs to match very closely though. As soon as theres any disconnect at all it has the opposite effect in my experience.

      sounds right, I tried my mates vr drone not flying it but using the googles to see what he can also see on his phone except I can move the view, and he just went a little to high and moved and I got a bad turn in my gut wore it for 20 mins, yet I have used a vr sim rig at like at a gaming center one about 1-2k and I was fine and loving it wishing I could get one. Guess it could be the same thing as to why you wake up when falling in a dream.

    • @weirdomonkey
      @weirdomonkey 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I find that I'm perfectly fine seated. My brain is ok with the visual forward motion in that circumstance. But stand up VR games give me the jelly legs. Lucky for me, I've found sim racing to be my favourite genre for VR.

  • @johnmann7o2
    @johnmann7o2 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    This is as close as a sim is gonna get. To those who experience motion sick in VR, it just takes time. 80% will feel motion sick in the early stages, including myself. I remember barfing, but that didn’t stop me. Little at a time and then after a while, your brain gets used to it. Minutes will be hours. That’s when VR will be rewarding.
    Tip for Will, use a big fan for comfort, racing gloves and jumpsuit, will add more to the immersion.

      It doesn't need to cost that much to get a good experience. I got a second hand seatmover with 2 SCN5 actuators for less than 1000 Euro. If you properly set it up (Simtools SW) you get a really good experience especially if you combine it with VR. Of couse this in video is better, but probably not that much if you compare 40x higher price..

    Looks cool.
    The thing too with Motion Rig is in a car, you don't get FFB in the wheel. Only through motion. So I would reduce the FFB a lot more to have to rely on the Motion for understanding car motion. That should help with sensory overload, but also, with dialing back the motion to what you need. It really is the same. You spend a lot of time dialing the FFB on the DD wheel to make sense. Need to spend as much time to "replace" the FFB info with the Motion info.
    I tried a rig like that for Formula Car. The first time, it felt so weird having close to no FFB on wheel. After 4-5 laps, I was only relying on my butt and shoulders to know what the car was doing. Very different feeling. And definitely not what you'd want to do with a "lesser" motion system, like a D-Box. Those are to add feeling. The full 6 dof motion system, they "can" replace that missing car sensation.

    Welcome to the world of long stroke ultra fast reaction time actuators. Qubic systems makes amazing sim products with a long and quite remarkable commercial sim history. They are just very expensive for an average guy. An average guy can build a similar experience with 200mm ultra fast actuators for around 12K USD but when it comes to purchasing an out of the box bespoke sim with great tech support experience Qubic is #1. This rig is amazing and it is considered mid-range in their offerings! Looking forward to the follow ups... seemed like forever since the teaser video. For the North America crowd, the Noobifier on TH-cam is an authorized distributor with full white glove setup and tuning services. Thanks Will. Keep it up!

    The motion rig looks really cool, but what I am really interested in is you finally trying acc nord. I tried it out and I can confidently say I think it’s the best version of the Nord of any sim out there by far. Also the ffb and the details, especially with the suspension blew my mind, and it felt way more realistic than any sim I’ve tried yet, but that could be down to me being relatively new, and not calibrating my setting perfectly in other sims, but so far, I think Acc’s done it the best for me so far

    Oh wow!! Will you are absolutley killing it lately! Keep up the awesome content!
    Tbh whover made this imo did a great job as a designer/dev. Its not overly aggresive and you can still train driving on it. Some of these rigs are way to aggresive and finally companies are learning thats not what we want. We want something that we can feel but we dont grt to sick on or to throen sround on. This moved just enough and looked like pure fun!
    I am psrtially disabled so these rigs are not it for me. My hips and back are to bad for it. I even have days i need to use wheels like the mclaren gt3 rim which I love so much for gas and brake. But god i love sim racing! I will never let me being dsiabled or partially disabled I should say in that eay ever stop me from enjoying what I truely love! Even if it could mske things a little worse for me physcially ita a good work out! Lol
    Motion rigs cannot make you faster but immersion is a plus but everyone ive talked to do not want ones that sre to aggresive they want ones that are lighter just to feel the csr and whats going on. Becqusw no matter what the motion rig cant feel identical to a real car so when it feels to aggresive it feels esy to unatural and if anything hurts your time not helps.

    "I said, Shake rattle and roll"........... I said, shake rattle and roll"........... That old song came into my mind just moments into seeing that rig jiggling him about. You know he had fun in it. I'm just an everyday commuter to work. Zero Rig. I sometimes push the car on those curvy side road..... I want to drive in that rig.
    When you watch those pistons move, it doesn't look like there is much movement in travel distance. But you can see his arms shake as well as the clothes.
    This rig is meant for the the professional racer. Possibly for those that have 40K in disposable funds. Or as a pay-to-play rig at a game place.
    It was not discussed. What is moving/powering the support pistons? I'm thinking hydraulics with a very good variable valve control. Which means there is a running hydraulic pump somewhere making noise. Or is it liner travel electric motors? Those could work, if there was a weight counter balance setup that would bring the rig to center when there is no power.

That is why I laugh when some sim racers think they are running laps around the same time as the pros, run the track record times in this rig and your doing something. To bad the price of admission is so high, only a few will get to experience it. I know ACC is not your favorite game, but what do you think of the DLC ?

    I am really curious to see how much of the lack of "floatiness" relates to the Nordschleife having immediate turns one after another. I imagine the "floatiness" might be a bit more apparent on a more traditional circuit. Interested to see if this is addressed in the review. Awesome video, as always!

I bet you can feal the fricking bumps, the road, all you need now is a mate to stand in front of you waffing a piece of cardboard at you for the wind and your set 😂. On a serious note though that setup is amazing I dare not ask how much. I have recently returned to Gran Turismo with 7 and I was researching setups and I saw one that was over ten grand, yes you heard right that is $10,000 over and compared to the one here in this video it looked shabby compared, and im not just saying it either it looked way under par compared to this setup so god only knows what this will cost but I will have one some day you better believe it I will sell a kidney and a lung if I have to 😂.

    I wonder if having a VR headset makes it more realistic with more motion. Like if you aren't in VR you have more of a visual sensation of how far you're moving around, but in VR you're just feeling it and don't have a reference so the distance you're moving.

    It's cool and all, but my main issue is that because the base stations aren't on the rig, when you get shaken around in the rig your head moves in-game, when you should be stationary in relation to your seat.
    Which.. will just completely ruin any consistently in the driving.
    If the base stations would be mounted onto the motion rig, that would remove this issue.

    • @boostedmedia
      @boostedmedia  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The software for the rig has inbuilt motion compensation which I haven't played around with much yet, but it actually didn't feel that weird to me driving because under those kinds of conditions your head rattles around qutie a bit anyway. the difference is in real life your brain compensates for it (and it does in the sim too), but for you guys watching the video capture it looks a lot rougher.
      Thats actually one of the big reasons we built the triple 65in 4K rig. Wanted to try and recreate what the driver actually sees rather than what a camera on their helmet would see.

    • @spacemonkey037
      @spacemonkey037 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@boostedmedia yeah, it.. seems alright. I would still be quite sceptical of it. The whole reason the top drivers don't use VR is because of consistency. Things need to be exactly the same, always. But for the immersion factor, motion rig in VR is absolutely the way to go, however you need that perfect 1:1 movement ratio to at least keep that part consistent. I've been driving ACC in VR for coming up on 1k hours now, and if my head is just a couple mm off alignment, things feel very wrong. Never tried a motion rig so can't truly comment on it of course.
      Would be interesting to see what magic you can make with the motion compensation software of course! It's a really neat concept.

    I see the bumping and rotation, but I don't see anything that would give you the feeling of g-loading. Without simulating even a single G in a turn or when accelerating or even braking, it's still not where it needs to be.
    Yes, that would likely require a full gyrosphere-style setup, so it can lay you over onto your side or completely vertically (up or down) and even then move you quickly away from the ground in order to get you above 1G in any direction. Obviously, it would never approach the g-forces you'd get in a real race, but it'd be a hell of a lot more realistic than the bumps and rotations you get here. Without that, it seems pretty lacking.

    The heave telemetry in ACC is not that great vs iRacing. The telemetry only supports 0 to 3 (Max), so the detail isnt really there, making heave more jarring than iRacing.
