I wasn't inclined to let Kalinda live, seeing how she had hired a large band of mercs to murder me and my crew.

That character had no redeeming value what so over, thus that interrupt was as conflict free as the Kai Leng interrupt.
Even friggin Spender didn't piss me off as much as Kalinda did.
She does show up later in the game to assist you if you don't kill her.
It’s not really about her redeeming value, the interrupt just gives you the opportunity to gun someone down in cold blood in a split second decision. The Ryder who takes that action is a fucking psycho. I think this would have been way more interesting a choice if they didn’t make it a reflex reaction (a bit like the Kadara Port Sloane vs Reyes resolution).

Had it not been for the way Peebee seemed to feel on the matter, I would've shot Kalinda with no hesitation. But Peebee wanted to spare her...so I spared her.

But I have a very clear rule in for videogames and rol campaigns: you steal from me, you die. Specially if it made me do a whole sidequest trying to recover what was stolen

also there is actual effect on your game. Saving Kalinda has her appear in the final battle of the game as a Ally NPC along side her own NPC squad members to fight along side you. If you kill Kalinda she will not appear in the final battle and you will have fewer ally NPCs fighting along side you during the final battle.

I let her live. Not because of her own efforts (duh) or because of Peebee, but because of something Shepard said that always stuck with me: "The Reapers may not have mercy, but _we_ do."
Kalinda is a horrible person who actively tried to kill us. She mistreated one of our crewmates (or even lover), stole from her, mocked us, proved herself a nuisance and a danger from the moment we first meet her. Frankly, she's a POS. But in that moment, while she's hanging off that ledge, begging for her life, she's completely defenseless. Unarmed, without any of her crew left, far from posing any kind of threat. My Ryder never takes the shot, as much as a part of me agrees that Kalinda more than deserves it. Mercy isn't a gift you offer horrible people when they've "earned" it. It's a personal trait you hold onto to keep yourself from becoming like them. If the roles were reversed, Kalinda would've taken the shot. That's the only reason I need for _not_ doing the same.

1) Biotic charge on Kalinda, grab her, jump and jumpjet out
2) if you found the one before too hard - Biotic pull Kalinda towards you informing PB that you got this and run for the relic
3) tell PB and Cora/any other squad mate to save Kalinda while you go for the relic yourself
... multiple others
100) let the relic be destroyed or kill Kalinda for forced consequence while ignoring all other opportunities to get both

Seriously, ME:A has so many forced choices where both could have been a viable option but its not for some reason. (we know its the plot but still) If you make a decision you gotta be damn sure that the option to choose both is impossible, invalid or in any way unavailable.

You literally killed every one of her mercs on your way there. She orders the mercs to kill you. She even got pissed about you are still alive. But you still need to decide her fate? It's a terrible story design if you ask me.
i thought the same thing. it's only after we eliminated every single one of her mercs and hard to kill robots that she asks for help and mercy. She didn't feel remorse for those who died. only herself.
Why is everyone so nonchalant about the fact that she tried to kill you. Like you can't even say that is one of the reasons why you shot her. She even says "no hard feelings" and it's played off like it was some sort of prank, but people were killed. Like if anything she should be in jail. She's responsible for the deaths of like 30 people.

Biowares got some kind of kink for making Asari look ugly and then condoning all of the hateful shit they pull in this game.
In this game apart from Lexi, all other Asari Characters are absolute Trash.
PB is mid, but her loyalty mission pissed me off.

Also, it's a shame that both Asari forgot how to use mass effect fields. Wouldn't want them changing gravity and saving both themselves and the tech.
I wish there is a third choice, shoot everyone, go crazy and jump into the lava, thus end the whole awkward journey and dialogue.

To me it wasn't really about what Kalinda had done, but the kind of person Scott is. The Scott I play wouldn't shoot a person who's completely defenseless over a piece of technology, that backed up by Peebee clearly expressing her opinion.

You forgot that if you save her, she comes to help in the last mission. I still don't trust either Kalinda or Peebee...
When you romance Peebee, she still flirts with Jaal. And I wouldn't be surprise if she cheats on you in a future ME game, either with Jaal or with Kalinda (if you saved her).
Too much of a wildcard, Cora is my male Ryder way to go romance. Or even Vetra.

I found this dilemma annoying. Asari = biotic HELLO??!!! Use pull on the device then save Kalinda, or vice versa... Bioware devs got lazy with this part.
I think Peebee intentionally did this so it will be you who is responsible for the fate of Kalinda, not her. She gets over Kalinda's death suspiciously quickly if you do shoot this bitch.

3:49 , gotta love that backhanded punch from Peebee, and on a side note , I love the use of swearing in this game. Makes the dialogue more authentic. It's not over the top, but it's used in places where I'd use it in these situations.

Shooting Kalinda is one of those things that I just can't change, same with my decision to always save the Council. I saved the Collector Base and killed the Rachni once each. Keep waffling on blowing up the Kett facility and Heretic Geth station.
I understand your dilemmas but when it comes to the Geth station I don’t hesitate because is it really Paragon to brain wash a bunch of Geth into your way of thinking?

(My Shepards apart from the first playthrough have crystal ball that tells that some stuff like Rana Thanoptis will blow up the military high command on Thessia => has to be taken out in ME1 or Geth heretics gotta be destroyed.)
I think it's one thing to save someone, or refuse to save someone. But it's one whole other thing to shoot someone who is actively being saved by someone else.

@@xLetalis I just did a playthrough and the codex specifically says that with the raw code Peebee and Gil are able to integrate remnant tech with the Tempest, but I've only done the one recent playthrough, so I dunno what the kill outcome would say.
So it doesn't matter. Pretty much like the entire game. I miss when your choices actually had an impact on the story.

She's happy to risk your life over this stupid thing, but god forbid her ex who's been trying to kill you for it die. I shot her purely spite. Still wish I could just not recruit Peebee.

In the epilogue Peebee mentions that she might be able to give Poc and Zap, the Observers she modified, personalities at the very least and open the door to a lot more when it comes to our use of Remnant tech.

Rachni queen, Collector base for cerberus, council's fate, Maelon's genophage cure, Wrex's ME1 fate, Balak's fate, Legion's loyalty mission outcome, David Archer's fate,
*N O N E* of these have any impact on the games they are in, only on other games (aside from Wrex being not available as a squadmate in ME1 if dead obviously)
This is the same thing, most choices in Andromeda will have consequences in sequels.

With the paragon renegade system the choices had a bigger impact on your experience. Don't get me wrong, the paragon renegade system has it flaws and isn't perfect at all but it gave your decisions more weight
I just listed the some off top of my head, yeah Zhu's hope too, ofc. Also a thing that did not matter at all in ME. And I didn't say Kaidan Ashley because you actually see the consequence immediately in ME1 .
Alexander Anderson I'm hoping that if they continue the new team gets more a footing with fixing the choices and other stuff like that, I have hope for them to grow and bounce back from all the criticisms. But there's no way of telling until the next one

Well. Mass Effect 2 did have a serious impact on the gameplay of Mass Effect 3. if you got Garrus killed on the suicide mission he wouldn't be in the third game :/
Which affected the story and the end of ME3 not a single percent.
It just changed the party and some dialogues.. Also MAss Effect 3 had the lamest story in the series. Collect Points for an abstract scoring system til you have enough for the final fight? Thats just LAZY.
Andromeda does something similar with most choices affecting the final fight, but its MUCH more elegantly done.
I don't know if i would say lazy. It seems they wanted a visual representation of your progress with garnering alliances and building armies. Getting that readiness score up also helped push their multiplayer, which was new for them. I think you would want some sort of statistic or figures to help you decide if you're prepared to enter the final fight. The timed nature of certain events in ME3 made decisions very consequential. Like not going to the Academy where Jack is teaching in time will result in the school being destroyed and you lose that asset and reuniting with an old squad member. Dialogue and party members are a huge part of game, so i would say that they matter a great deal. Whether or not you care to lose those characters is up to you and will determine how much they matter... If you didn't like Garrus or Tali (you monster) you should not care to lose them in pipes in the Suicide mission in ME2, or if Tali blows herself away on Rannoch in ME3.

after everything I've done for the remtech and hoping that it will benefit me on remnant research data so I couldn't just lost it to someone who try hard to murder me and my crew so I killed her, and I regret it cause I don't get any remnant data in return haha.

OK, this is just stupid. So it would seem obvious to kill her, but there's no upside to doing so, as far as I can see. Why didn't doing so, allow you to get a bunch of Remnant on your side? This should have been similar to Legion's loyalty mission. With that mission, there were upsides, and downsides, depending on what you wanted to happen.
If they didn't want to mimic Legion's mission, they could have done something more interesting. How about this...Kalinda makes it to the device first, and puts it into a shoulder bag. Beebee jumps over, and confronts her. Then the boom happens, and Kalinda is hanging by a finger. She has the device. If you save her, you get the device. If you don't, there's some other cost. Like all that stuff she doesn't give you. If you let her die, you don't get the device, but now you get all the stuff in her hideout, which makes you stronger.
It just seems more interesting to keep the device...to have that actually mean something...give you better tech that makes life, your outposts, etc... better...more vibrant...more productive...remnants doing jobs like growing crops, etc...

I didn't kill Kalinda. Peebee wanted that technology SO badly, and if she was willing to give it up for her? It (to me, at least) would have been cruel to just shoot down Kalinda:/
But it also reflects how toxic their relationship is. Peebee described the abuse she got from her and knows she’s never going to change her ways, yet still can’t shake her influence. At least gunning her down puts a stop to her hurting people and separates her entirely from Peebee.

Anyone shooting Kalinda there just let his/her feelings dictate how to treat lives. No matter how much of a twat she was, you've just murdered someone. Whether Kalinda tried to kill you or not, this situation is different. Back then both of you and her mercs were armed and you could fight back, you were on equal footing. But there she is unarmed, about to fall into lava so she is not a threat, you have the upper hand so shooting her then is not only murder, it's cowardice. Shooting her hand would just make you a murderer right then and there.
This game was okay, Not great, but okay. But, damn, these character models are UGLY as hell.

I'm not jumping on any bandwagon, I don't even play Mass Effect. You might like the voice acting, but i think that the emotionless tone plus the motionless faces just doesn't look or sound well at all.
How BioWare handled murder ... I found this to be VERY unappropriate and unfitting.
This was cold blooded MURDER ... for "tech" ... that does "stuff" we don't even know what exactly yet.
