    I did level 1 some years ago. The biggest improvement for me came from being light on the bars. I didn’t realise how hard I was holding on. Massive improvement by holding on with your core and knees and not via the bars.At the end of the day smooth is faster and safer. I think if you combine that with getting your head down by the mirrors and looking through the cnr riding becomes much easier.

    Nice work Mate! I have been riding, touring for 30 years. And I ride daily, year round. BUT, 2 years ago I started track riding for the first time with the school. I’ve now done 10 days with them over the last 18 months. I thought I knee how to ride, until I met these guys. Done all my schools in the US, and was lucky enough to have Keith as my coach for the last few. Legend!

    I love CSS. They improved my riding quite a bit. Faster on the track, safer on the street.

    This video really makes me realise how much I took from twist of the wrist 2, I apply these techniques when I ride. I find you have to kind of force yourself to be conscious of how you sit on the bike, or it is to easy to start relaxing your legs and putting more pressure on the bars or clip-ons and having stiffer arms and upper body. I use my brakes as little as possible most of the time, something I've always done in cars to though to save fuel and brake wear.

    I’ve done CSS level 1 and 2 at Phillip Island. I think you learn the most in level 1. We had S1000RR bikes to play with...what a weapon they are.

      I will be very hot that time of year most likely. Let’s hope covid restrictions are eased by then. It’s a very fast track and on the last session of the day you can go as fast as you like. A lot of the things they tell you, you probably subconsciously know anyway if you’ve been riding a long time, but it’s good they reinforce it. For example keeping your head up and looking a long way ahead. I already did that, but when they mentioned it I think about it more. There’s first class facilities down there, it’s well run, and you’ll enjoy every minute of it.

      @@gm16v149 Everyone I know who has done the course has said great things about it. I already changed the date from November to December as I assumed we wouldnt be allowed to travel to regional victoria by then. Fingers crossed I dont get a really hot day.

    I am surprised they don’t use radio’s... I used to take groups to the Ring for advanced rider training, we had Motorola radios under the seats, with head sets, worked awesome on the road and the track. Could relay everything from road conditions, directions, weather, traffic and police and road and riding positions, throttle/acceleration and braking etc real time, didn’t have to wait until afterwards where you might forget or misconstrued a hand signal. Expensive but well worth it for the safety and completeness of training 👍

    Every rider with the means should do CSS. I've done four two-day camps (US) with more to come. Having Keith Code as my level 4 consultant to kick my butt is really a treat.
    The instruction doesn't end with their track sessions. I find myself returning to Level 1 and 2 drills on my street rides, especially the visual and throttle control skills. They're so fundamental and the source of most riding errors.

    I did level 1 to three and learnt so much, I wasn't great but you leave there knowing what you should do, and what you shouldn't do. While making my way to the circuit I noticed a police bike behind me, and expected a penalty, because I'd left a little late and was trying to make up time, but fortunately for me he was taking a CSS course as well.

    Great vid Chopsy....brought me right back to when I did it, especially as I did the same as you, resisting the turn with the other hand....but for me, level 1 is all about the "quick turn"....that almost aggressive counter steer....transformative...

    Really enjoyed watching that - thanks for uploading. As my old instructor told me after I got my full licence, you can never have too much training. This has inspired me to look at some advanced instruction, not on the track right now but who knows, maybe in the future!

      It's ok. Tbh PI is a harder track because it's so fast, so I'd recommend a doing some track days at Broadford or a smaller track first, then maybe going for 1-1 tuition. That's better value for money than CSBS tbh.

    • @VISATcomms
      @VISATcomms 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alex Jones Freedum Worrier totally agree here.....Superbike school is best done at a smaller track like Broadford or Winton for example, you will get a lot out of it.

    Many years ago I read Twist of the wrist and twist of the wrist 2. Both by the same guy who inspired this school. Although old school theory it still works and literally over night I was alot faster and safer. Definitely worth reading if you want to go faster on track. Still a way to go Chops but as long as its fun thats what its all about.

    Brilliant. I always thought instead of counter stearing push stearing. I understand the physics, I personally and I mean my opinion only, it's like posting when one skis downhill and plants the inside skipole to negotiate the next turn. When it's done correctly it is nothing less than magic and completely intuitive.

    Great video. Thanks for posting. I did level 1 a couple of years ago and this reminded me of some of the things I need to focus on. For me, the two step was the hardest part to do well. It was hard to look at the turning point and then find the apex quick enough to hit it since its so close to the turn point.

  • @JimmyVespe
    @JimmyVespe 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am no expert by any means, but I combat tension by using both hands to steer, one is pushing the other is pulling. It really makes the bike turn at high speeds so much better. Going fast entering in a corner I don't find my bike (R1M) is just a one finger push to lean it way over. I strongly prefer steering with both hands, then the other hand never fights you it is helping you turn vs opposing out of tension from braking etc.

    I can't encourage enough if you have a sport bike go to track days and racing schools. Some track days offer instruction. It will provide so much more satisfaction for your sport, and you can share what you learned with new riders.

    Great outing mate. I always try and remind myself to use more legs and less arms. I guess it's time to get this mid 40s body in the gym and work on legs and core muscles. You guys in the UK are very lucky to have so many tracks and riding opportunities. My nearest track is hours away and run by tossers.

    'Twist of the Wrist' books should be compulsory reading for new and old riders alike. It shocks me when riders say the don't countersteer, or hold that bar pressure the whole turn! So many critical things to learn in Keith's material.

      Yes agreed, came away with knowledge which will really help me on and off the track. Desperate to get back on track to put it to proper use. New sub here btw 😁
