Hot day, hot laps. Really enjoyed the onboard camera shots . I have to it’s really great to see this bike stretching it’s legs on a track and showing it’s heritage. The fact you had fun doing it a small bonus 😂. Seriously enjoyable video, thanks for sharing.👍

I was at Cadwell on the same tyres rosso corsa 4 on the hottest day of the year, they gave excellent grip but not so keen on Cadwell as it’s all over the place😅 donington is my favourite track flows nicely & very forgiving 🤣, another great video chopsy 👊✊️✊️
Enjoyable videos to watch. I have the same bike, just curious what size tyres are you running and how do you find them for cornering.I'm considering switch to a 190/55. I think they would be more flickable.
Very enjoyable video; contributed to by the descriptive camera angles and editing, let alone the content 👍 The additional suspension work footage was also very interesting. after watching this video it got me thinking 'if an old guy can still ride sporty 'why i got bar riser thing on and ive taken them off and sell on....cool!!
Really enjoyed that - felt like I was riding the bike and some great overtakes Next year I will definitely need to do a track day (currently running a Daytona 675) - cheers Chops 😊
What did the suspension changes do for your lap time and general feel of the bike? I forsee a trip to K-Tech in the near future. Best money you can spend, brakes and suspension
Really good video. I just missed out on one of these K8 GSXR1000s with only 3k on the clock. Mint like yours it was too. Surpised the suspension guys didn't actually have a weighing scale with them so they could get riders' correct weight all geared up to correctly set up the suspensions. I guess you aren't doing any more track days now until next year unless you get an invite to Portugal or Spain ............. ATB.
Great to see the progression over the day's riding, the Gixxer looked fantastic, I was lucky enough to do a couple of Ron Haslam sessions at Donnington, the on board took me right back there. Great stuff and it just shows you don't need to many RRRs to have a great day.
Yes it's brilliant Dale I loved it! The GSXR was also brilliant, I would have been faster on the RR but only by a couple of seconds! Amazing when you consider how cheap an old GSXR is compared to the latest kit
Just about to watch your video on speed triple😊. Wanted to ask a question about your Knox android short gloves. Do they give plenty of feel at controls ?
Fab video, pity about the other bloke who fell off. Question, noticed u don't blip the throttle on down change? Particular reason? Everyday is a school day ☺
Hi Chops, love the video. I noticed you didn’t have a rider mode selected (A, B or C). Was that intentional? I have a K7 and don’t seem to notice too much between setting A and no setting at all. Cheers, Rob
Definitely need new fork springs up a couple of weights. Probably worth getting Maxton or similar to rebuild, new fluid and revalve to suit. Should be able to manage the on road performance and comfort better as well, giving you more scope on and off track. Our body types (220kg+) definitely give the suspension a work out and totally over load it when pushing on. Its worth the expense, especially as bottoming out the front could lead to a lock up and throwing the bike down the road.
@@LambChopRides go to Maxton, they will tell you what you need and not just sell you a generic kit. Last time I went, the rebuilt and revalved the forks but only put a spring on the rear shock telling me it performed fine on their dynometer… I was expecting a rebuild and revalve… great service, really impressed. They have many decades of experience of road, track and TT suspension 👍
i prefer spending money on my bikes than crap food. Slender, light ,lean and strong is best to get the best out of your bike. No point spending a shed load on your bike getting it to be as light as possible and the suspension set up only for yourself as a rider to be so over weight and out of condition it's embarrassing.
Great stuff chops , looked an awesome day. A great mod for the gsxr k7/8 is the K Tech compression adjusters for the bottom of the front forks. They make a huge differance with so much extra adjustability. Think I paid 78 quid for mine. Keep up the good work 👍

I did trailer it but have just ridden before. You don't have to take anything with you, but takes water or buy some there as its hot work. No lockers but is garages so just leave your bag there it will be safe
I'd love to see you do a track day where you get to ride your improved 'classic' and compare it against a modern weapon like the S1000RR. How much are you really missing out on running an older bike. I don't think it's much at all for most riders but I might just feel that because I have a soft spot for the less extreme sports bikes of previous generations.
The S1000RR I was using last year was faster. The carbon wheels made it turn quicker and the electronic suspension worked very well, overall suspension was way better. I would say 4-5 seconds quicker per lap on the RR compared to the K8. But its a lot more money for 5 seconds!
