      i really hate to say this, but i feel like i need to get this out... I love lee, but his playing always seem generic. He is getting a lot better, but everytime I see people saying how rob's playing is lame and lee's playing is so much more enjoyable and tastier, i cringe...

    • @brendandoherty9379
      @brendandoherty9379 6 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Owen Hu dude I feel the exact same, it feels half the guys here watching these videos either don't play the guitar or else there total newbies on it, his playing is decent I'm not denying that but the way half these guys make him out is he's the world's gift to the guitar. It might come a shock to alot of guys but robs playing is actually very tasteful it just amazes me he gets no credit for his amazing talent, and I am saying this as a blues guy

    • @RainMakeR_Workshop
      @RainMakeR_Workshop 6 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      Oh I agree, I was simply saying that his playing in this vid was better than usual. But I personally don't like to phrase things in a negative way. So what if someone isn't necessarily as "good" as someone else, or if one person is better than another. That isn't what music is about. Music isn't a meritocracy!

      Adam - Syeah, any good brand pickups (apart from the more "boutique" ones). - I have an Indonesian Ibanez that was under that price and it came with DiMarzios. - I don't like the sound of the particular ones, but they weren't some "B versions". - Then again, sometimes the "proprietary" pickups are great as well. - Such as I have an Epiphone SG that comes with pickups designed by Epiphone or Gibson, and while they look like basic brandless pickups, they're absolutely not in need of replacement soundwise.

    One of the main features of the full MusicMan model that I really want is the Piezo with a single output jack on the guitar. The sterling is the same body shape but spec wise it's just another guitar. Gotta keep saving for the Majesty Artisan!

    The "Dream Theater" is actually a movie theater in California and was concocted by drummer Mike Portnoy's father, Howard. For legal reasons Dream Theater had to change their name from Majesty in 1987.

  • @RainMakeR_Workshop
    @RainMakeR_Workshop 6 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    There is a small detail about the Sterling Majesty that I prefer over the full fat Music Man one. On the Music Man the routing for the humbuckers is very sculpted to uncovered humbuckers, meaning you can't fit covered ones unless you modify it. On the Sterling however you can just drop any covered humbuckers straight in.

    • @riffsnreviews
      @riffsnreviews 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      And the MM has triangle shaped cuts outs for the pickup legs, meaning 9 times out of 10 you have to cut the corners off of the pickup legs (which is a pain to do cleanly) to fit the pickups in, or use dimarzio pickups... Hate it when they do that it's such a pain and offers nothing better visually.

    That purple color on the high-end model is just sick!!! The Indo model is still pretty pricey. Certainly appreciate MM’s quality control efforts, but I’d rather purchase it for less and get it set up by a local shop or do it myself, which I think most folks would do anyway right?

As a player of a Sterling guitar, (albeit not a Petrucci model) I can tell you you absolutely cannot beat the amount of guitar you get for the money. Let me remind you that some USA guitars for 1000, 1500 and even 2000 are garbage compared to some Japanese (ESP) , Korean ( high range LTD's ) and even some Indonesian made guitars ( high range Jacksons ).

    And can you please do a comparison where maybe you leave the extra features of the EBMM version (like the Piezo) out?
    That's sorta what I was hoping to get from this video :D

    Played one at guitar center and its really nice, but the black decal was chipping off around the pickup screws. The finish looks cool from afar though

    I've decided, the next guitar purchase is gonna be that red Majesty. Even though I'm totally shit at guitar, a beginner level. But gotta treat myself some time!

    The reason why Ernie Ball receives the guitars from their Indonesia is so they can correct any errors they have done and inspect them through their quality control sign include inspecting sheet.
    Do Chapman guitars do this?
    I love all guitars both brands and I bet these are built right next to the Chapman banjos.

    Cap! About your insistence on segregating savory from sweet.
    I recommend two things: 1.) Dark chocolate with chipotle chilies - a truly wonderful combination - and, 2.) Chocolate covered bacon, which is a better idea in practice than it sounds like it should be.
    A little goes a long way on that chocolate covered bacon, though.

    The Music Man story began in 1971 when Forrest White and Tom Walker formed a company they would call Tri-Sonix, Inc (often incorrectly referred to as "Tri-Sonic"). Tom Walker approached Leo Fender about financial help in forming Tri-Sonix. White had worked with Leo in the very early days of Fender Electric Instrument Manufacturing Company as the plant manager and stayed on after the company was sold to the CBS Corporation, but had grown unhappy with their management. Tom Walker worked as a sales rep at Fender. Because of a 10-year non-compete clause in the 1965 contract that sold the Fender companies to CBS, Leo Fender was a silent partner.
    The name of this partnership was changed to Musitek, Inc. by 1973 and in January 1974 the final name, Music Man, appeared. Leo Fender did not like the name Tri-Sonix, so the name evolved under Leo Fender's suggestion to call the new company Music Man. In 1974, the company started producing its first product, an amplifier designed by Leo Fender and Tom Walker called the "Sixty Five". It was a hybrid of tube and solid state technology. The preamps used the then burgeoning solid state "op-amp" integrated circuits embodying traditional Fender preamp time constants and architecture, while the power amps typically featured a Cathode Driven Tube power amp stage, much as were used in the radio broadcast industry in AM Transmitters. There were a few models with a tube phase splitter in them, but for the most part Music Man amplifiers used the faster responding common Grid, Cathode Coupled drive from a solid state front end that players characterized as "loud as hell". The number of designs rapidly increased. 15 of the 28 pages from 1976 catalogue were dedicated to amplification. In 1975, Fender's legal restriction had expired and after a vote of the board he was named the president of Music Man.

    I like that the Sterling doesn't have the Dream Theater inlay on the fretboard, not a fan of guitars that are too obvious to identify.

    For a price of £999 I was hoping they’d at least put a pair of dimarzio’s in. I expect they’ll come out with a revised version next year with those pickups and an ebony board. Those are the only changes I’d make to this budget version.
