    I used to complain about high priced Indo guitars too till I got my Strandberg. I've played a lot of guitars, but the craftsmanship and quality from the Indo factory is amazing. Not a single sharp fret and the setup out the box was pretty much dead on. With that said, I'd def go used and try to find a USA JP for a couple hundred more

    Got the 2019 model in Pearl White second hand last year under 600€. Swapped the pickups for the Dimarzios (50€ each). For that price is a killer guitar that weighs almost nothing with a neck to die for. 👍🏻

    I think in a day and age where budget guitars have become as good as they have, this Sterling is way, waaaay to expensive for what it offers. Feels like it should be 1000$ at the most.

      You are right but have you not noticed the prices of everything including guitars seems to be going up everywhere. I also think the makers might be making it in a less costly way than a few years ago but charging more . The days of great guitars at good (ie low) prices may be In The past

    And I thought 1200€ was too expensive when they sold them for that price... :D
    Sorry, but at that price the Sterling Majesty is as undesirable as it can be.
    You get Stainless Steel frets, better tuners, better pickups (can't stand the sound of the Sterling from second #1 in that video, way too muddy), neck-through, Piezo-system, the better bridge, the compensated nut, a proper case, way better quality control... and considering that will probably find a real Majesty used for about 2500€, I'd just say, the Sterling deal sucks ass. I'da bought that guitar for half the price new or for 600 used and put upgrades on it. That's the worth of this in my opinion when comparing it to other guitars.

    That’s a just great looking guitar. One thing I don’t like about it is that over horn,,,it’s to big in my eyes but that is a personal taste. Otherwise it seems that the big crowd think it is way over priced. Im a fan of Harley Benton guitars. I’m a old beginner and just think the HB:s is great value for the money overall. But I haven’t played a high brand guitar since I was a teenager and my older brother came home with many high brand guitars that I could try out. But I don’t remember how it was to use them any more. My next purchase going to be one of the Fusion models with roasted maple neck. I’m waiting for the blue one and it’s going to be in stock again in the beginning of January 2022. I love your videos Henning and you and some other guys out there is the reason way I found the Harley Benton as a brand. Big regards from Sweden 🇸🇪

      @stickman33 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd like to see how the guitar hangs with that extended horn. It extends to the 12th fret. I imagine it would center the neck more so there would be less reach towards the nut. In comparison, my PRS 24-08 attaches the strap around the 15th fret, my Strat around the 14th.

    I had the EBMM Majesty few years ago, The electronics died in just about 1 month (not more than 20 hrs. of playing time just in the bedroom) and a board replacement was needed. I just sent it back and went for an Ibanez Jem 7V! Its a long story but I will never dare to buy the original EBMM Majesty, since the support I got from EBMM was close to zero. The JEM 7V is kick ass and classy gorgeous in white and gold! I never had any issues with Ibanez prestige guitars and the 7V or the JS. Rock solid mean machines

    The price is an absolute joke.
    For 300 bucks less you can get an Ibanez Prestige from Japan that plays circles around that Sterling crap.

Mine didn't and I had to go back and forth with the retailer as well as the vendor to get a GRUB-SCREW, which unfortunately was a bit long.

    As a massive Majesty fan, I never really liked the Sterling version and I still don't. There is just no reason to pick it over the other guitars. It's just another 6 string but in the shell of a mediocre Majesty. It's like taking a US V8 muscle car and taking out everything of worth and puting in a 2.0L 4 cylinder engine and a slightly worst body on it and calling it a "downgraded" version. The Sterling Majesty line was a mistake.

      I beg to differ. This has all the fancy woods, stainless steel frets, and branded pickups. Literally HALF the price. I've heard the music man majesty has overly complicated faulty electronics that can fail on you. While this is a sexy workhorse guitar with all the main essentials. This is coming from a jp15 BFR piezo owner with love. And i love my piezos and my V8 engines.

    • @GeronimoBiggles

      While i do think it's overpriced for an Indonesian guitar, it's exactly the same price as my Indonesian Ibanez AZ premium with very similar specs. I saw one of these at guitar center used for $699 and I debated buying it having never ever taking an interest in one and knowing nothing about it (i'm not a JP fan either). The discount alone is what had me debating it, a few days later it sold. I think what turned me off to it was Agufish's review, that plus that it's made in Indonesia, and the color didn't look as pretty as the picture on the website. Looks like a fun guitar but the full asking price seems a little ridiculous

  • @ulfvolz4798
    @ulfvolz4798 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The starting track is yet again great. In my humble opinion the video falls a bit short in telling WHAT is the actual difference of the neck against say an Ibanez RG or JEM. It looks like the accessibility beyond the 17th fret is unique. But does the neck also feel different in say the "normal" regions from open to 12th fret? Thanks for another video of something I can't afford 😅

    • @EytschPi42

    Folgenden Kommentar hatte ich vor knapp einem Jahr verfasst (Update s. unten) :
    Zugegeben - 1900 Euro sind nicht wenig Geld für eine in Asien produzierte Gitarre. Ist sie das wert? Das Video von HP gibt (mir) darauf ebenso wenig eine konkrete Antwort wie die vielen Kommentare derjenigen, die Preis und Qualität der Sterling Majesty kritisieren ohne sie vermutlich je in den Händen gehabt, geschweige denn gespielt zu haben. Der Wert eines Instrumentes bemisst sich IMHO nicht ausschließlich am Herkunftsland und/oder an den Preisen der einzelnen Komponenten, aus denen sie zusammengebaut wurde. Hier gilt wie so oft: Das Ganze ist mehr als die Summe seiner Teile. Wer sich eine solche Gitarre (trotz des Preises) kauft hat eine bestimmte Vorstellung davon, was er/sie damit machen will.
    Will (und wird) er/sie mit der Gitarre klingen wie Petrucci? Wohl kaum. Auch nicht mit dem Original von Ernie Ball, jede Wette. Die 7000 Euro kann man sich getrost sparen, sollte man das beabsichtigen.
    Würde Petrucci auf der Sterling klingen wie Petrucci? Sehr wahrscheinlich! Der Sound kommt eben aus den Fingern, das Instrument kann dabei unterstützen, mehr nicht. Also was will man mit der Majesty?
    Wie HP richtig sagt, es ist eine sehr spezielle, kaum universell einsetzbare Gitarre. Das Genre ist quasi vordefiniert, also wird man sich damit musikalisch eher im Metal-Bereich betätigen. Da kann sie im Rahmen ihrer Möglichkeiten glänzen. Und wer sie haben will, wird dafür bereit sein, den aufgerufenen Preis zu bezahlen und die Sinnhaftigkeit der Anschaffung nicht in Frage stellen. Dass die Gitarre funktioniert, hat ihr vor Jahresfrist ein bekanntes deutsches Fachblatt attestiert. So furchtbar viel falsch machen kann man damit also wohl nicht. Und wenn doch?
    Auf dem Gebrauchtmarkt sind zurzeit weder die Sterlings noch die Ernie Balls billig zu haben, anders als manche Kommentare suggerieren. Davon kann sich aber jeder selbst überzeugen. Insofern sollte sie ohne große Verluste wieder zu verkaufen sein.
    Mein persönliches Fazit: Ich denke ernsthaft über die Anschaffung nach. Wenn man genau diese Gitarre haben will ist die Sterling Majesty (preislich) derzeit ohne Alternative, die Diskussion über Preiswürdigkeit, Herkunft und Qualität insofern obsolet.
    UPDATE Dezember 2022:
    Inzwischen habe ich die Sterling Majesty seit etwa einem Jahr in Gebrauch und habe die Anschaffung noch keine Sekunde bereut. Trotz der "Kinderkrankheiten" wie zu enge Kerben im Sattel oder die werksmäßig "vergurkten" Messerkanten und Bolzen der Tremolo-Bridge. Für Letztere wurde mir von Musik Meyer anstandslos eine neue geliefert und die Sattelkerben zu weiten war auch kein Problem. Mit beiden Arbeiten muss man sich natürlich etwas auskennen. Ausserdem habe ich die Tremolo-Federn durch die schwarzen Noiseless Trem Springs, die Thomann für etwas mehr als zwei Euro anbietet, ersetzt. Jetzt ist die Gitarre super stimmstabil, selbst nach heftigem Tremolo-Gebrauch. Der Sound ist hervorragend, die Spielbarkeit Dank der fantastischen Ergonomie ebenfalls. Was ich noch verbessern werde, ist, den Dreiwege-Schalter gegen das Original von DiMarzio und die Potis zu tauschen. Der Tone-Poti wird auch ein Push-Push Poti werden, damit wie beim Original MM-Modell ein Coil-split möglich ist. Der Volume-Poti ist mir persönlich zu leichtgängig, weshalb er auch getauscht wird. Eventuell tausche ich die Tonabnehmer noch gegen die im Original verbauten "Rainmaker" und "Dreamcatcher" PU's von DiMarzio. Auch wenn es nicht nötig ist könnte man das alles noch weiter treiben und noch die Locking Tuner gegen Markenware von Schaller tauschen. Dann ist die Sterling zwar immer noch keine EBMM, aber kommt alles in allem für etwa ein Drittel des Preises ziemlich nah dran.

      Why are you waiting 12+ weeks? I got my Standard 7 directly from them and it came within the week but I live in the US. I'd say cancel it and get it from another retailer or buy it directly. 12+ weeks is way too long for a production instrument

    Meh, it’s such an over the top guitar design that I don’t find it really works in a “cheaper” format, one that’s still pretty pricey tbh. I would get an HH prestige Ibanez AZ over this any day.

    the price is a bad joke. For the price you should get at least proper hardware. I played both and the would say that you are paying 1900 bucks for the look, but not for the feel of a real majesty. PigPoppa did a good job getting sure that the SBMM version is different enough that some guys will spent 6000 bucks for the real deal. For that price I´d buy any Ibanez guitar hands down. For 600 - 700 bucks you are in the price bracket of a J. Custom, for instance.

    This guitar seems to be a victim of the current state of things in the world. There's a global chip shortage so anything that relies on them a. increases in price and b. is way less readily available. That and shipping during the pandemic has become a thing.

    Trust me. It's a fact wood makes difference in tone but it does not have to be 4 star hand select wood. Good sounding wood does not know it is ugly. So to the point it should be made in Japan to satisfy the player about fit and finish even if the finish is black or white paint.

    the new petrucci guitars are not even close to worth their money. the usa made are way overpriced and good luck trying to keep that mahogany neck stable in the 2000€ (!) indonesian model. soundwise they're pretty similar but also pretty similar to the JPs which are also MUCH better looking

    I have to agree: the track is killer. Felix is so good. HP too! I won't complain here about the price of guitar I won't buy. Although it sounds great. Once owned a Parker made in Indonesia - it did everything you were looking for, sold it because it lacked character. Hm. By the way: the wood on the body has to be veneer - otherwise the instrument would have no sustain at all. The fibres of the wood have to be aligned to the strings somebody once said to me. Had a bitter experience to prove this rule to be true... ah you just showed the backside of the guitar... all ok she said... after seeing the video to the end I am not sure I do not want this guitar :-)

    Wouldn't worry too much that it's made in Indonesia, as you said w Fender: it doesn't matter whether it's made just north or south of the border (by the same guy..). Guitar manufacturing has been going on for quite some time there in large quantities, meaning they now have very experienced technicians but it's cheaper than Japan because life is cheaper than in Japan..

    • @fredriksvard2603
      @fredriksvard2603 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It matters. Because: when they lower production cost, it's harder to justify high msrp. Indonesian made have worse resale value than japanese, us etc. It also matters where things are made because they may have completely different policies for qc, or even use different materials. It's obviously not the geographical location in itself that's the issue.

Very playable, very inspirational. And a bit too expensive....Yes. 1250 would be a better prize. But as I said, what can I do? Tomrrow I am trying a FGN mythic.
