    Wow-that’s a DEEP DIVE into ADB-I had no idea how complex that protocol was! Can’t wait to see more in the SE series!

    Hi, Tony. I enjoyed the video a lot. You explain your thought process very clearly. Not every teacher can do it like you do. Thank you! Unfortunately, I know almost nothing about Macs, so cannot help you with the repair. Good luck! Will be waiting for the next part.

      Thank you for the nice words! What matters is that you enjoyed the video, leave the Mac to me 😂 next episode should be out soon! Thanks for watching!

    21:30 - The grease Sony / Apple used was Dow Corning EM-30L (the modern formulation for the original 10L.) Since it only comes in 1kg tubs, there are people who repackage them into 114g bottles under a generic sounding "M-kote" name. M-kote EM-30L.

      I watched JDW's video too late - well, I am going to take another go at the floppy in one of the next episodes - and here again I am spoiling! :) Thanks for your input!

    I format my mac disks using Mac drive 98 (Windows 95 software). You did a great job retinning the ram btw

    • @tony359
      @tony359  ปีที่แล้ว

      How does that work? I understand Mac floppies run at variable speed so a Windows system cannot be used. Thank you, I was impressed by the RAM too! :)

    23:42 - PC Exchange (For System 7 and up) or DOS Mounter for System 6 will let your Mac read those PC floppies should the need arise.

      Thank you! I found the floppy EMU to be more than enough for my needs - but I am spoiling the next episode! :) Thanks for watching!

    Based on the findings I see from your great scope work, the ADB is working fine. I leaning to a bad mouse. I had an issue on a 128K where button pushed were not recorded and turned out to be the resistor pack but 128 is not ADB. If mouse is fine you could still have an issue with those resistors R31/32/33 and even the L1 filter.

    Thanks for the very informative video, I have learnt a lot about early Macintosh machines, and repairing them from another TH-cam site called Caymac Vintage , (His first name is Will), it might be worth reaching out to him to ask if he has any input on your problems with this machine. I'm looking forward to seeing you getting this machine fully working in the next video. You might also look into getting a Bluescsi board, if your hard drive is failing, they are cheap enough, and take standard micro sd cards, that can be used as a hdd alternative.

      Thank you! I am learning as I go as well. Since the video I've discovered the HD20 feature of the Floppy EMU but also heard about BlueSCSI. Indeed plenty of options! Thanks for watching and stay tuned! :)

    it appears to have accepted at least button presses, since it popped up the menu when you clicked the mouse while moving it. its just not seeing (or possibly using) the position data.
    very curious.

    recommendation please put a towel under the CRT you might have had one but i might just be blind, i just wanted to recommend it so you do not damage any screens anyway great repair

    • @tony359
      @tony359  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a good advice but I think with the Macintosh the screen is so recessed that it does not touch the desk. My desk is covered with PVC anyways. I am currently working on a different type of CRT and indeed that protrudes enough to touch my desk when I place it face down - for that one I use something soft indeed. Thanks for mentioning though! And for watching!

    Hello. I'm from Poland. My English its not good. Can you ples add polish napisy/text?

    • @tony359
      @tony359  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Witam - wygląda na to, że automatyczne napisy nie są dostępne dla języka polskiego na youtube. Musiałbym wypróbować automatyczne napisy w moim oprogramowaniu do edycji - jednak wiem z doświadczenia, że mogą być bardzo złe, ponieważ moje filmy nie są skryptowane, a automatyczny algorytm zwykle ma problemy z moim głosem. Zobaczę, co da się zrobić, ale nie mogę obiecać, że to się da zrobić, obawiam się. Dzięki za oglądanie w każdym razie! (przetłumaczone przez Google)
