Before everyone complains about how long this video is... Just know that this is an install video from start to finish. I go into detail on exactly how to take the bumper off and install the Intercooler with charge pipes! Many people like myself have never taken the bumper off. So I wanted to make sure I took my time with explaining on how to exactly take the bumper off. You can except 3- 3 1/2hrs for this install. Its not something that you want to rush. Awesome install vid! Any plans on an upgraded clutch? Im sure an agressive tune with the Ktuner can yield you some great numbers but from what I understand the clutch in this car needs to be upgraded.

I wouldn't recommend driving without the bumper either. Drove my 9th gen without the bumper for a test lap after installing a new part. Wind force pushed the inner fenderwells back against the tires at highway speeds and the tires rubbed holes in the plastic.
Trust me if your going to go fast in a 9th gen rip all that plastic off lol, I turbo’d mine and literally all the plastic came off after about 5 pulls lmfaoo

Does anyone know if aftermarket parts for the 2017 civic sedan models fit the 2018 ones?

Is the piping on the left side reversible? I can't seem to get the piping on the left to go back onto the turbo

Anyone having trouble after the intercooler was installed? Every time I WOT or hit the gas, one of the hose popped off making my car struggle to accelerate past 3k and when it does it struggle. I made sure all the clamps are tighten.

Question about the reassembly: I can't seem to get the holes under the middle of the bumper to line up now that the new intercooler is in. I feel like that shelf like plastic piece that the intercooler sits above is blocking me. Should that be removed?
If we are talking about the same piece... I push that plastic piece to the side

Did/do you have to tune the car for the intake and intercooler? Looking at buying a 17 civic si that has these mods done and im assuming it wont have any tuning software.
I’m 50/50 with my answer so I’m not sure if you do or don’t. But eventually you’ll want a ktuner
What is a "deep well" socket, and how would I know whether mine is already deep well or not? The last thing that I want to do is removing my bumper only to figure out that -- oh shit -- I don't have a deep well socket.
Also, I didn't order charge pipes with my intercooler, but I haven't yet opened the packaging... will mine come with other tubes OTHER than the charge pipes, and will I have to replace anything OTHER than the intercooler itself?
Deep well sockets are a lot longer than a standard socket.

I have a PRL IC. Still in the box, got it back on Black Friday. I didn't get it with the charge pipes, but I don't know if that means that I replace everything EXCEPT those charge pipes, or if I JUST replace the intercooler.
Yeah you’ll just replace the IC the piping is worth the extra money

If I add this to my civic ext would it make much of a difference? I mean you have an Si, but can I still get better performance on my civic or is it a waste?
You’ll always gain performance with an I/C upgrade.

@Carfacts Yep. That is correct. The stock CFM Intake tract brings in just over 400CFM and the Turbo Efficiency is pushing out about 200CFM Max. There is no shortage for air. The only way to obtain any gain would be to "custom tune" the vehicle - not the Base Tunes that come with the software. But, you could do that w/o even having an aftermarket air intake. Conversely, if you increase the size of the turbo and go BIG - then having an aftermarket intake would continue to provide the "overhead" that the stock box already does on a stock model.

What did you do with all the plastic trim pieces that are to the left and right sides of the intercooler. I don’t see them on the PRL install afterwards. Also what are your average IAT AND IAT2 temps plus ambient temps before and after.
I’m not sure about what plastic pieces you are talking about. My IAT’s are within 10 Degrees of ambient temperature
TTorres1183 TTorres1183 they’re the black plastic pieces that are vertical on each side of the intercooler end tanks. You have them on until end of video where you put bumper back on. They’re like air ducts. Go to 17:50 of your video and you’ll see what I’m talking about. Those should still be showing when everything is back together but yours on the passenger side isn’t. Just wondering if you removed it. Look at a before and after stock/prl intercooler picture

No it shouldn’t. They have to prove that the part messed up before they void the warranty

Hey what did you notice as far as temps with the new intercooler? i have the prl intercooler installed and not sure why but my IAT's are actually hotter than factory intercooler. after several datalogging and comparing to my old intercooler, i get nothing but hot temps.
That’s strange... the best I’ve seen is 3° above Ambient and most 9° above ambient
What's the ambient temp where u are at? And what IAT are you referring to, 1 or 2? I can't seem to figure it out why... i called PRL and they didn't really have much to say other than to look over my install and and check my grounds... didn't touch any grounds so i dont see how thats an issue. Everything is installed just fine.
Also, i see you took off the plastic panel on the left side of the intercooler if u are facing the car...lol. i took it off too so you can see the end tanks better from the front. did you install the plastic panel that goes right on top of the intercooler? the one thats held by two plastic tabs on the back of the aluminum frame.
Lol the temps here very so much in Alabama. I’m referring to both IAT’s!

The cold side to the intercooler is backwards on ur video it shouldn't be tight and rub

Does the stock piping fit the prl intercooler?
Good question idk...
No. They do not. PRL's IC comes as a "KIT" - not seperately, so no worries there.
Mishimoto does market just their IC w/o piping - but you can always use PRL's Upgrade Hose Kit to upgrade the 1ply tubing that is on the stock. On the Stock turbo you will still benefit from the cooler IAT2 with either decision.

Hey Ttorres I know you sold the Si but just want you to know that pipe at 28:34 is on wrong. The other side of the pipe goes on and the side with the bubbles and rings goes up. It was hard as heck just wanted to let you and the audience know.

@@retrohp3508when I installed it I noticed in the image of the instructions how it was supposed to be, and says the pipe was really hard to get in. So possibly he put it backwards.

Thanks again for the video. I just wanted to give you a heads up - it looks like the orientation of the PRL silicone tubing connecting the intercooler to the charge pipe is reversed in both the picture on PRL's site, and your video. I was having some fitment issues, so I contacted PRL and they confirmed that their reference photo was actually not correct -- the side of that silicone tube with the metal bands on it should be connected to the charge pipe, rather than the intercooler.
