Why TMK????? There are many who deserve the award, e.g.,Vidwan Shri Ramkumar, and Vidwan Vijay Siva. In awarding TMK, the politics, biases, nepotism and arrogance of the MMA as can be seen in Mr. N. Murali’s reply to Vidhushis Ranjani & Gayathri is blatantly apparent. MMA has sunk to low standards. This is very sad.

MD Ramanathan was not awarded SK. The reason ( hot be given hope I am right) given was Palghat Raghu was given and the following year it could not be given tp a Palghat singer as MDR was from that region Bit like a quota system. MDR passed away by with six months or so and remained SK less . They could have given him posthumously when Bharat Ratna is given posthumously . One comment , among the many which were said in anger was " We must have another Music academy . Madurai was suggested then as it had semi urban setting. Some suggested Hyderabad . Just like there are many IITs and the number is growing year by year . In US also there are many Ivy league schools. The place to have another academy would be Bhadrachalam . it would be fitting tribute to Bhadrachalam Ramadas. The academy should be free from privileged or family controlled committee. It can be done with crowd funding and global links money can be raised.

One of the greatest Carnactic and film singers, Dr. K. J Yesudas had issues with Madras Music Academy, as he has a Christian background. Thus he went on singing for local masses and introduced classical music for lay men. Every lay man enjoys his classical singing due to majestic voice and training under stalwart Chembai Bhagvatar.

I heard the issue was not because he was Cristian. He always wanted to install his music and speaker system for his concert, not using the academy system. This took incredibly long time to set up that disrupted the line of other performers time slot as well. So the academy denied his request of instalation of his music system and he stopped singing. Not sure how far it is true, but this definitely makes sense to me.

It is a direct passage in Sur into Self or God.

While North and South of a declared "merely motley-tribed Indian land mass" developed this mellifluous pentatonic...only there is a mixup in naming.
Does dominance of materialistic culturalism lacking a definition of Self Knowledge have anything to do with this conundrum?

When our ageless Sanaathana Dharma is taking roots again and fresh shoots are rising, the old entrenched mix of macaulayites, communists, religious supremacists and bigots, and confused rootless hindus, and among them some born into brahmin families but not brahmins by Samskaara, and enemies abroad of a prosperous powerful Bharataha Varsha, - all come together to stop or retard the resurgence of that Dharma; the present roiled state of our society is a manifestation of this struggle. It encompasses all sections and aspects of our society from economy, politics, social harmony, to attack on our culture and traditions. Knowing the enemy is the first layer of defence.

He asked me to send a note to him inBangalor Raama seva mandali concert that was due in three days. I promptly did it. He saw that note and remarked that it is not a raaga. Such was my anger, I sent him scale, alapana and swara prasthara of other artists. He then shut up and never talked about it. He I understood is an empty vessel with limited knowledge and also, his rendition is at times jarring to ears. My two cents is he is yet to learn music.

Art-oriented people and Artistes are the most elite beings living on the earth.
Political groups can never comprehend the intellectual level of artistes, musicians and the way they decipher the plethora of vested interests hidden behind such incidents.

This daily was a great promoter of India’s freedom movement. The Hindu, under the management of Murali and Ram, has now become the mouthpiece of the DMK and on the top of this, a woman born in the Murali-Ram family, nominally Vaishnavite Brahmins, has married into Karunanidhi family; she became the wife of Karunanidhi’s grand-nephew by the name Daya Nidhi Maran. Many comments in here say we need a new MMA. Creating a whole new organisation may not be the solution because in future another issue would arise and we cannot go about creating another MMA. Perhaps, we need to bring changes to MMA's protocols and position new people. Democracy needs to be remembered when prestigious awards are given.
