Barkha has taken the name of Annamalai for criticising TM Krishna's stance but before that DMK's Kanimozhi & Stalin have issued statements supporting TM Krishna and trying to get political mileage. So why cannot Annamalai speak against him supporting a hate ideology.

He is only E.Ve Ramaswamy never project a villen as Hero that's absurd. Anybody insulting any community is obsolutely crime. If we say all Muslims r terrorist how will it be accepted by islamist. Never target Hindus & as well as Brahmin. We r the minority community keeping silent & minding our culture & heritage.

It is absolute nonsensical to request condemnation from Annamalai for all the issues. Let us admit very openly that Carnatic music is for a set of people belonging to certain castes. Therefore, this is not a critical and livelihood issue that must be condemned. E V Ramasami Naciker must also be condemned, since he had prejudice, animosity and hatred towards two caste i.e. Iyer and Iyengar.

I am a Panjabi who graduated to Karnataka music after listening to Hindustani classical music for years. When I heard TM Krishna sing 'Krishna Nee Begane' i could not hold back my tears because I thought he sang from the depth of his heart. Now that I know better about him, I wonder how he could pretend so realistically. He just made a show of it, for effect, while seeing Krishna 'on the broom' in his heart. This man has great skill . I would liken him to a 'bhrashta yogi. He has fallen prey to what is fashionable,...wokeism and all that goes with it.

And here, in the social media u r telling cock n bull stories. In Tamilnadu, majority of both Carnatic Musicians and common people r against this Perhaps u can do one thing. Kudos to Ranjani and Gayatri for taking a courageous stand. It is not sufficient for artists like them, and others such as Vishakha Hari, Ravikiran, the Trichur brothers, and Dushyanth Sridhar, to boycott the Academy; like-minded Carnatic music Rasikas should avoid patronizing it. The Academy president, Narasimhan Murali, said, "According to me, they are disappointed that they have not been awarded; that is at the root of all this." These statements only indicate the arrogance of a rich, senile man. Ranjani and Gayatri have been quite vocal about their disagreement with T. M. Krishna's attitudes and behaviors for a long time. Their opinion was not formed recently after the award was announced. In fact, the two sisters have every qualification that makes them more suitable for the Sangita Kalanidhi Award than T. M. Krishna. Krishna most likely got this award (and others) because of The Hindu Group's nexus between T. M. Krishna, N. Ram, and N. Murali. In fact, how is the award decided? Does the Academy have any democratic process for it? What qualification does N. Murali have (besides being rich) to make him eligible to head the Academy?

Will a musician who is a follower of Hitler, praises him and supports his ideology be given a Grammy Award even though he maybe the best musician. Ramasamy Naicker was a hate preacher who has even insulted the Tamil language. He was not just against the unwholesome practices in Hinduism but also hated it wholesale. He was a separatist and Nehru called him a madman who should be locked away in a lunatic asylum. The blessed Carnatic music is not just music but is based on Hindu values & culture. One of the iconic & leading exponents of it was Tyagaraja who was a Rama bhaktha. There were many others like him. To extol a man who supports EVR, who threw slippers on Rama & other Hindu idols & insulted certain communties is to disrespect this genre of music. Carnatic & other classical & devotional music are holistic & include values. It is not just music but expression of devotion or bhakthi to the Divine in the form of deities. Anyone who openly or is proved to be flouting this should not be honoured by a prestigious Academy, even if the person maybe technically skilled.
Though I empathise with Chinmoy personally I cannot go along with her stand taken on this matter unless those whom she accuses have been proven guilty. If they are proven guilty, then the Music Academy should denounce them. Her support for this Krishna guy is just quid pro quo & not based on objective assessment of principles. He supported her then & she owes him now.

The moment he does that he will be brutally attacked by the DMK that he is trying to impose brahminism and sanskrit in TN.. How does singing in mosques and churches help ? Are people ( read non brahmins ) really waiting in queue to learn CM and they are being prevented ? If someone really wants to make a revolution they will do so without much noise and be persistent in their effort. He is just using the DMK time and tested toolkit.. and coming especially ahead of the elections has all the signatures of their agenda

Deplorable Views By TM KRISHNA ON KASAB HANGING:
The first concerns capital punishment. The laws of our land are, purportedly, founded on certain moral guiding principles. But I fail to see any moral justification for capital punishment. Not very long ago, when we fought and earned the right to govern ourselves as a nation, we did so by wielding a very powerful weapon - ahimsa or non-violence - one that defeated the enemy not militarily but morally. Isn't it anachronistic then that today we seek to punish criminals in the most violent way possible: by taking their lives? The judge who condemned Kasab to the gallows proclaimed that he was inhuman and undeserving of any mercy. But is it just being merciful to spare someone the death sentence? Isn't it also the morally right thing to do? Agreed that any punishment must be proportional to the gravity of the crime but if we are serious about preserving our identity as a nation founded on the principle of non-violence, shouldn't we at least debate the morality of capital punishment?

An outstanding analysis by vid Dushyant
In Karnataka during the 11th century AD Sri Basavanna discarded Brahminism (though he was a Brahmin by birth) and started his new Shaiva Movement. They are called Shivasharanas. we the Brahmin Community Musicians and dancers have been using their vachanas in Performances. Their compositions in Kannada are highly spiritual . we never discriminate between Shivasharanas and the Haridasas.
And.... Pandit Fiaz Khan and few other Hindustani Musicians are treated with immense respect in Par with Brahmin artists. . They also sing Haridasas and Basavannas compositions in most of their concerts.
It is evident that where Pure Music rules the world, there has never been casteism or caste based groupism. Music is Universal and so I strongly stand with vid Dushyanth Beta

Carnatic music and bakthi are twins and one cannot be separated from the other. T.M.Krishna looks like widening the area by changing the nomenclature as Dravidian Carnatic Music. In addition to singing in praise of Lord Rama, Krishna and a host of other deities of Hindu religion, musicians will start singing in praise of Allah, Lord Christ, periyar, kalaignar and other leading personalities. T.M. Krishna should start a music college to train musicians in the way in which he expects others to sing. Opening the Sabhas by meeting the demands of T.M. Krishna and othders, Sabhas will have a sound financial health as years pass by.

He is a man of great talent but no self discipline. It’s like a man having a bag full of gold but no penny to spare.
I am reminded of C.Rajagopalachari’s comment to Adi Sankara’s Bhaja Govindam.
“Adi Shankaracharya wrote a number of Vedantic works for imparting knowledge of
the Self and the Universal Spirit. He also composed a number of hymns to foster
Bhakti in the hearts of men. One of these hymns is the famous Bhaja Govindam.
The way of devotion, is not different from the way of knowledge or Jnana. When
intelligence matures and lodges securely in the mind, it becomes wisdom. When
wisdom is integrated with life and issues out in action, it becomes Bhakti.
Knowledge, when it becomes fully mature is Bhakti. If it does not get transformed
into Bhakti, such knowledge is useless tinsel. To believe that Jnana and
Bhakti, knowledge and devotion are different from each other, is ignorance. If
Sri Adi Shankara himself who drank the ocean of Jnana as easily as one sip’s
water from the palm of one’s hand, sang in his later years, hymns to develop
devotion, it is enough to show that Jnana and Bhakti are one and the same. Sri
Shankara has packed into the Bhaja GovindaM song: the substance of all vedanta,
and set the oneness of Jnana and Bhakti to melodious music.”
If TM Krishna claims or his couturiers claim that he is an epitome of knowledge in music , it’s totally wrong .

Shame on them and shame on Krishna for all the abuse he has needlessly and unjustly heaped upon his own kind! He truly has lost his marbles!! If other musicians who are slated to perform have any shame they too would boycott the entire proceedings. To share a stage and thereby endorse the Music Academy's decision would be like spitting into the hands of the ones who are offering you food. Musicians, especially those from the south of India, owe their entire life's earnings to the bhakti-laden compositions of the Trinity and other great composers who have provided the ´food' for their performances.

Today the other communitites hold that hegemony (EVR and his ilk talked (talk) about over the lowest of the communities . None of these holders of this hegemony is confronted by even the elected government let alone the society. A case in point is mixing human faeces in a drinking water over head tank and that water tank served the downtrodden. The government remains silent even to this day and the higher castes rejoice in this happening !

TM Krishna’s comment on the great MS Subbulakshmi are indeed very unfair and unfounded. Did he really find a hint of sadness in her voice or yearning to be associated with Brahmins ? If that were even remotely true why would the great lady proudly use her maiden antecedents and call herself Madurai Shanmukhavadivu Subbulakshmi. Her mother Shanmukhavadivu was herself a legendary Veena maestro in the Devadasi tradition; her maternal grandmother was also an established violinist.
Subbulakshmi didn’t need to yearn to be associated with the Brahmin community; she was born to an Iyer father and she was married to a highly reputed Iyer, which made her quite closely associated with Brahmins. Subbulakshmi was considered a Tamil icon, role model and a style guru of sorts especially in the Tamil Brahmin community. So any yearning was entirely the other way around. And as for sadness in her voice, I’ve never detected it except of course in sad songs. Otherwise hers was a powerful deep resonant timbre. Versatile to suit Bhakti devotional music as also the most fast paced rhythmic ragas.
TM Krishna is himself a good singer. Whatever made him utter such irreverential stuff.

With due respects to duShyant srIdhar swAmi - some of the points he makes, like no divides within the society, are not true. There will always be a (atleast) dotted line separation between a practising, orthodox brahmin and the rest of the society. By a prwctising brahmin, i mean one who believes in the vedas, who has had upanayanam at the appropriate age, one whoe performs trikAla sandhyAvandanams, avoids any food from outside, does pancha mahA yagya everyday.. it is not good for such a brahmin (or the society) if he dines in a free-for-all party. Non-practising brahmins - for whomr brahmin tag is actually a burden because tradtion expects them to live a certain way and society sees them as a "privileged upper class brat".. TMK is a classic example.of the second kind. It just makes his life a lot easier and simpler if he shreds the string that holds him to his varNa, and join hands with anyone that peddles any easy philosophy. In sanAtana dharma, there is no formal processs to fall out of the system. Processes exist only to become part of the system. We call it samskArams

"Cute" framing- Annamalai vs TM Krishna- sorry, that is not true; I know the leftist thinking behind the same. It is TM Krishna vs other equally accomplished artists , let it play out , do not rope Annamalai here for ulterior motives. Is there no integrity in journalism?

Many kudos to Dushyanth Sridhar-for his knowledge, wisdom, mastery of Harikatha & Carnatic classical music, roots in & respect for Hinduism/Hindutva/Sanatana Dharma, for clarity of views, rational thinking, and broader perspective of things and courage of conviction.

19:34 barkha ji asking real journalistic question, his murmur in reply sums it all, the controversy! He can't decide who should be getting the award, when he doesn't hi ka the office to decide. It's like asking CJI should appoint the ECI WHEN he can't only modi and his minister can decide who will be the next chief of election commission
