    My mom makes the best deviled eggs and the plate is cleaned at every party. I would always try other peoples and it was always too tangy and not very savory, tasting overpoweringly like mustard, and there would always be left overs. I finally got my mom to give me the secret and it was to use ground mustard instead of the condiment. It adds that much needed unique kick that mustard gives without all the added vinegar that comes with liquid mustards. Trust me, anyone reading this, use ground mustard in place of liquid, and remember to only use a fraction of ground mustard as it's far more potent than liquid mustard.

      I use regular mustard and it never overpowers the taste. Whoever made the ones you had weren’t taught properly. But I do agree also about the ground mustard. It works for those who don’t know how to properly use mustard in a recipe. Ground mustard is great in homemade macaroni and cheese.

    • @charismatic9467
      @charismatic9467 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Born_Again_Viking No matter how little the amount, there's no getting rid of the tanginess that comes with vinegar based mustard sauce. Using Bottled mustard sauce works for those who don't know how to properly incorporate the flavor of mustard.

    I do not eat eggs but my family does and they love deviled eggs. I can actually tolerate the filling so I am able to taste as I make it. My daughter is a Personal Trainer/health enthusiast and does not eat mayo. (Not me, I’m a Southern Duke’s Mayo gal) but to honor her wishes I have found a way to season Greek Yogurt to replace the Mayo for her deviled eggs. Everyone is happy!

      When you cook your eggs, as soon as the water comes to a rolling boil, turn the heat off but leave the pot with the eggs in the burner for 18 more minutes. After thet, dump the wam/hot water out and place the eggs in a strainer and rinse with cold water. I find that this process separates the film from the hardened egg whites making them easier to peel. Hope this helps

    • @Allthynsflossie
      @Allthynsflossie 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can always add salt when boiling the eggs. Thats the trick!

    • @jasminflowerz1710
      @jasminflowerz1710 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adding salt & vinegar to boiling water, then transferring eggs to ice bowl and placing in the refrigerator for awhile, helps reduce/ prevent chipping of egg white during the peeling process.

      Katherine Maas Ive heard farm fresh eggs are hard to peel but have you tried putting the eggs in the water AFTER the water is boiling? I buy cage free eggs and that seems to work much better for peeling than putting the eggs in the water first at room temp. If you haven’t tried it, test it out, it might work for you too! 🙂
