Yes, in this tutorial we are using the default cube.
Normally I don't correct mistakes, but just sayin' vertex select mode and knife prə•ˈjekt.

Because blender is only about modeling
Not sure where you're headed with this, but we use it for animation, sculpting, and much more. We will eventually get to the other uses of Blender, but it did START as a 3D modeling tool.

@@Paggii We use Blender for animation regularly in my classes. I've found that it is more stable (less crashing) than the competitors.
