I have this Glind system and its the envy of all those that see it in action. There's nothing better on the market imo. Here's a couple of tweaks I've done.
    1. Plumb your hoses to the bull bar with male snap on hose connectors on a bracket.
    2. In my case I have a marine grade switch between the two hose connectors to turn the pump on. All this eliminates you having to pop the bonnet to connect hoses and turn the pump on. On the dash like yours is another good option.
    3. At the end of the intake hose that goes in the Jerry Can, I have sleeved a length on conduit over the hose the full depth of the Jerry Can to get the coil out of the hose so you can position it easily to the lowest point of the Jerry Can.
    4. Use a drop thermometer with an alarm capability and set it to go off when it reaches your desired shower temperature. Our routine is, as soon as we pull up at the end of the day from driving out and about, I start heating up the shower water while the motor is nice and hot. While this is happening we get our fresh change of clothes ready, get a fire going and what not. After 8-10 minutes the alarm goes off telling us our shower is ready. I then turn the car off so we can can have a tranquil shower.
    5. We use one of those white Jerry's where you can see the water level. I've got a halfway line drawn on it (10ltrs each) so the first person, usually my wife as she likes her shower really hot, knows she's used her quota. Once she's finished the water temperature has dropped to a temperature that suits me.
    Cheers.
PS. Not sure I like where you have your exchanger mounted. I'd be paranoid of damaging it there.

This is really useful info! Thanks for sharing. Especially like the idea of mounting male snap on hose connectors to the bull bar. Do you have any photos/videos of your setup?

@@ThePlim62 Id love to see your practical solution that obviously works well for you. I like to glean gems of wisdom from multiple source prior to starting. Has worked out well so far on my subi forester build.

Nice install, not sure Id be mounting the heat exchanger exposed like that, maybe under a bash plate might be better.

It's installed wrong. Besides being to low down and susceptible to stone damage, it should be plumbed of the pipes coming from the cars heater unit. This allows you to use the heater controls in the cabin to control the temperature of the water on the shower unit.

So you have plastic heat exchanger with coolant in it unprotected front and centre - hit a rock and lose your coolant...?

  • @nnoddy8161
    @nnoddy8161 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I had one for many years and recently pulled it out.
Firstly, resulted in cutting into the coolant hoses to plumb into my Td5 and created a lot of additional hosing which became vulnerable in the engine bay (heat exchanger into coolant supply, then to water pump).
Secondly, there was just too much dicking around trying to get the right temperature - one minute freezing, the next minute boiling. This resulted in the use of a LOT of water (which at times was somewhat scarce).
We have gone back to the old heating water on the fire/stove and using a shower bag suspended from the awning.

@@defender90orkney9 yeah, you have too otherwise you will run out of water before it got hot! It did help, but we found it was a lot of mucking around to regulate the heat.

@@defender90orkney9 The other issue is that on the Defender, the heater controls are either HOT or not hot - there is no much adjustment. All good, glad you are pleased with it.

@@nnoddy8161 @Defender90 Orkney, It appears to me that this system is hooked into the radiator cooling system and not the car heater system. This should provide a constant temperature range?
