What Joolca really needs to focus on is a hot water setting thermostat. It would be really nice to set the water temperature to a setting and have it stay there. I find I waste a lot of water trying to get the water heater to settle at a specific temperature.
I'm thinking that if I ever get this shower base, I can recirculate the water I use to set the temperature, as well as the water I use to get myself wet before soaping. Use that recirculated water to rinse off the soap, then do a final rinse with clean water.
@@kellymichelley Sounds good in theory, but who is going to do all the hose switching while you are in the shower between recirculated water and fresh water unless there is some valve that can switch between the two that I am missing. The other issue I see with this system is that if you are recirculating only 5L of water, will it not keep gettign hotter and hotter? Lets say you start with water at 70°F and adjust the heater for 103°F. Once the water falls back into the tray it will no doubt be cooled down but still warmer than it's initial temperature. It will raise the temperature of the water in the tray. Hopefully you can now see that over what I would anticipate is not a very long period of time. Water heater no longer has to work as hard to raise the temperature of the water. Since there is not a thermostat, and this is a fixed amount of flame heating the water, the original 103°F that you had adjusted the heater for is now going to go higher and higher and higher. Someone correct me if I'm wrong about this.
@HoustonBrownPhotography it has an automatic shut off at 50 Celsius. But will continue to pump but no longer heat until it's below that temperature. It is annoying when it doesn't maintain a steady temperature it's either hot or cools quickly.
@@kellymichelleyYou would have to adjust the heat setting with the reused water because it would have already been heated and would get way too hot on its second (and subsequent trips through. It could work if you turned the heat off if the used water was already at a temperature that you liked.
ok been using this system for 5 years now have also the pickup system for the water supply of river or pool, just use the pickup pump in a bucket of heated water to your liking wet up pause the pump soap up rinse of with the rest of the water use about 5 litres to 10 litres depending on how deep your bucket preferably the narrower it is the better 5 litres is hard to pick up in a standard bucket use 10 then store back the rest that doesn't get used as for the base it is a good idea to keep the dirt off especially if u have the double ensuite but it is more stuff to carry ps dont connect the hot water system just use the pump just saying !!! for those that are confused as for water temp cripes go from 1 pool or river when u travel the water temp changes so if u stay in 1 spot for a while it takes 1 setting whats the problem in summer it will be this setting in winter it will be that setting
It’s awesome that yours works well. I bought mine 5 months ago and I think the hot had worked maybe 3 times. I live in my van so it would be awesome if I had one that works. Not happy
We had a couple of teething issues at the start too , we realised that not enough water pressure it won't ignite or the battery were getting low that's why I changed to the 12v adapter to get rid of the batteries .
I would say this product is not light or compact enough for ease of portability also it’s not an easy set up which would put a lot of campers off using it in my opinion.
Awesome system. Only annoyance with ours is that the hose and shower head leak sometimes out of the hose connection (its almost brand new). You can see at 3:10 yours is doing the same - I wish Joolca would fix this as it seems like a design flaw
It's a little concerning. I am shopping for an overlander/camping shower and many of the videos for this one shows the shower head leaking. Not sure it will be bad to get wet, while taking a shower - but that's wasted water.
i want califont for my batch, one i can use in my kitchen and shower, basically just to heat water and connect to shower head as well as heat water for dishes
Great idea but maybe a filter also? not so down to shower in others' filth after. also, that shower head looked supper leaky losing water down the side rather than out of the shower head itself. hope that's not a representation of all of them
Awesome. Really good product if you have limited water but need that extra time for whatever reason. Can the water be kept warm through the recycling process and can the water be filtered through your water filter hose?
Yeah it can ..... but the joolca is set up to switch of gas at about 50c and still pump...... so if the water is already warm it switches off. Mine did this but typically it's no big deal
great idea ish. If you're nasty then the second person is bathing in filthy water. I get the filter but it still won't be 100% clean water, and water does drip on the sides of the onsuite so eventually there won't be much water left in the system. This is pretty cool if it's just one person and you're not too dirty, then you can stand in the shower to relax from the hot water for a long time.
Doesn't solve the problem of grey water collection...although can be addressed by raising the shower base onto a dog bed frame and sliding a tote collector under it.
Hello! I noticed in an earlier video you also had a black SMARTTEK unit at the same time as the JOOLCA. My question is: can I use the JOOLCA showerhead/faucet attachment with the SMARTTEK unit? Will they fit?? I just LOVE the black front and for some reason JOOLCA still hasn’t dropped one yet. 😭
Not sure about recycling the shower water mate! You're washing dirt off.. now you're spraying it back on. Maybe add a water filter would make it better. Hope the Kids don't pee in the shower Lol
I would just recycle the water I use to set the water temperature (I end up having to use a lot of water for that) and to get myself wet before using any soap. Use that water to rinse the soap off, then turn off the recirculation for a final rinse with clean water.

I also use so much water to set the temperature. It's so frustrating!

My kid annoys me at times, but there aint no way in hell im washing my boy in my arse juice.
It's a filtered pump. You can also use it if you are close to a river and get pretty much unlimited water.
@@BrokeDudeAdventures The only thing it filters is rocks and twigs.

5 litres is hard to pick up in a standard bucket use 10 then store back the rest that doesn't get used as for the base it is a good idea to keep the dirt off especially if u have the double ensuite but it is more stuff to carry ps dont connect the hot water system just use the pump just saying !!!
for those that are confused
as for water temp cripes go from 1 pool or river when u travel the water temp changes so if u stay in 1 spot for a while it takes 1 setting whats the problem in summer it will be this setting in winter it will be that setting
It’s worth the weight, bulk and cost. 👍🏽

Thanks! Does the water filter when it recirculates?

I find that this is generally due to the where the hose connects to the quick connect and not at the quick connect fitting itself.
I agree, I had to go around and snug up most of the fittings

But would'nt that be recirculation dirty water back onto the body? Or did Joolca add a water filtration device ?
The inlet strainer needs to be changed to a inline bigger strainer wire filter. To stop restriction of inlet flow. For temperature control.
Great idea but maybe a filter also? not so down to shower in others' filth after.
also, that shower head looked supper leaky losing water down the side rather than out of the shower head itself.

It is a filter on the recirculating hose.
I LOVE IT!
Like a ever shower
Just like an Evershower..... But alot more stuff to set up!

Maybe a dumb question, but wouldn't recycling dirty soapy water be bad for the unit?
I wonder the same thing
Maybe flush with clean water before putting it away?
and doesnt it defeat the point of a shower if you are showering in dirty water?

This is so cool and I just got mine mounted. But my tires are way too big and in the way… I have to know, what swing out mount are you using?
The swing arm is from core off-road there from W.A
Brings a whole new meaning to a golden shower??
Good Day bro, Recirculating the dirty shower water for the kids to use and how that is sanitary?
seems better than a shared bathtub
Doesn't solve the problem of grey water collection...although can be addressed by raising the shower base onto a dog bed frame and sliding a tote collector under it.
why would you want to shower is recirculated dirty shower water?
How’s those new leather seats going.I’m in the process of having some made and a bit worried they might get too hot and sweaty.
There bloody awesome mate .
Sounds good.cheers mate

Yes, but you will have to change the quick connect hose fitting attachments to fit joolca bunnings or any hardware shop should have them .
Tell me about that flip out arm it is mounted to?
It’s from core off road - shower ensuite bracket

Just dont pee in the shower, then u can recirculate
I definitely do not want to take a shower in somebody’s dirty shower water. That’s gross, dude. Not a good idea at all lmao
