- Since TH-cam couldn't get rid of him, it's time to defend more folks from Kent. although, I use the term 'defend' loosely, since 'Dr' Dino doesn't really have any good arguments for why folks are wrong, he just says 'no - it was a god' a lot. But let's protect a school / charity from an atheist whack, shall we? And see Kent admit that he actually maybe does understand evolution and that he's not actually a real doctor.

Every cultist presentation already does this. Sometimes you don't even need to wait for them to take a different breath before they immediately contradict themselves. I'm not even exaggerating, I've seen it before. Even yesterday in a different video, I commented on it. I think it was the Paulogia + Ehrman one exposing how petty that White guy is. Contradicting themselves is what apologists _do._

The whole reason 'whack an atheist' exists is because Kent is a violent sociopath who can't work out his frustrations on actual people through the internet, so he beats up a stolen child's toy in effigy instead. He's gotten into hot water for beating kids before so he doesn't do it on camera anymore.

Debate? I never watched him debate evolution! Every time people were trying their hardest to explain to him what the theory of evolution is in the first place, and how evolution works. So the truth of evolution are not debated. It's scientists and debaters trying to explain to a stubborn idiot and/or conman what is evolution in the first place.

Agreeing to a debate with Kent Hovind is like making an appointment with a really unenthusiastic dominatrix. Instead of leather, it's a button-up short sleeve. Instead of a cracking whip, it's a bonking mallet. Instead of degrading you with orders and insults, you're just being called stupid over and over again.
That is why nobody with any academic significance even bothers to acknowledge him anymore. He is "not even wrong" and so it is just a waste of their time.
He is low hanging fruit for TH-cam content creators though, and while they show he is wrong, it gives legitimacy to the morons that agree with Kent that he is onto something.

Kent keeps referring to how he taught science and math. (Apparently in one of those private religious schools.) Can we spare a thought for the poor children in his classes?
He said "a bacteria". That's enough for me to know that he hasn't got a clue.
For the most part, it's less than that. He started in church basements, then moved across the country to a private school after being accused of abuse - not sexual, he beat up a kid for talking back. A few years later and he had to move out of state again. He then set up his Dinosaur Adventure land and started making videos and giving speeches. Then he went to prison, made a bunch of friends (sexual predators) and now employs them at his "family friendly" campground.
He's more than a creationist idiot, he's a literal monster.

@@DavidSmith-vr1nb I can't wish hell were real, but it does make me wish there were some kind of ultimate accountability (albeit without eternal torture as an option). And that, in turn, gives me a little bit of understanding of why people want there to be a hell. I think most people aren't really sadistic enough to want anyone to be tortured eternally, no matter what they did in life. But we have this deep longing for justice and accountability, so then we invent these heaven and hell mythologies to allow us to imagine that reality has justice and accountability built in.

Of course since the designs are flawed and inefficient and the designer you propose did it is incapable of making mistakes, it can’t be your designer. My designer however is the blind process of natural selection. Since a blind process without a goal is capable and pretty much expected to make mistakes and inefficient designs, I think mine is more likely.

@@Cat_Woods I don't. Believing things that have no grounding in anything is a terrible and harmful example to give. It makes people more vulnerable and blind to abuse. It trains the mind to rationalize by requiring requiring and encouraging rationalization to maintain belief, making it a habit to excuse away anything, including and not limited to abuse tactics like gaslighting, neglect, etc.. Faith isn't harmless, it's extreme mental and emotional abuse and I wish that theists would stop setting it as an example and that other people would stop endorsing theism and its intrinsic abuses.
The way I read you comment is like this:" I wish that gentle emotional abusers, enablers, and victims like you would get more traction in society at large, it doesn't always have to be wife beating and sexual child abuse. If we find one individual of a species, we don't know it had children, but we have to know others in it's species did. Given that fossilisation is a rare event, requiring a quite narrow set of circumstances, if we find one individual of a species that was fossilised, it implies that there must at least have been a population of those individuals alive around that time.

There is a video of Kent saying his methods are so fool proof even a child could use them. then proceeds to ask a little girl in the audience if two squirrels of different species in a photo are the same "kind". She says no and he just stares into the void and then continues as if nothing had happened.

Just once I would like to confront Hovind on his "Similar designer" thing. Namely he likes to (or at least used to) compare the similar designs of cars. well those different cars had different designers. Therefore by his logic there's more than one designer meaning his precious book can't be right.
And all this coming from someone who actually believes that same book (but not literally)
Also, if it was design and not evolution, you'd see similar designs for similar functions across otherwise unrelated lines, and wouldn't see similar things that appear to have been repurposed for entirely different functions.

Remember one of Kent’s best comebacks is to refer to an episode on his channel for the “answer” to the question he was asked. Meanwhile what he is referring to is just lots of word salad and than restating his premise with absolutely no evidence or good arguments.

the amazing design of a whale, eh? An animal that lives its entire life in the water, yet has to come to the surface to breathe or will drown. That sure is amazing. Amazingly bad. An animal that several species have to dive deep to find their food but are subject to decompression sickness if they surface too quickly. Boy, that sure is an amazing design. You would think the great creator would have thought of these design flaws.

Just a very simple and basic explanation of how common structures can point to common ancestors. My mother has light skin, and my father has slightly darker skin. If I was fully black, it would prove that I do not come from one of them, however if I was closer to white, then I match them.
Actually that's not quite how it works, but I appreciate the effort in making the analogy. It's entirely possible that you could have been born fully black, for example, if your father had ancestors who were fully black.

You know what else farmers also understand? That they can be specifically, strategically, and purposefully selective breed their crops for higher yields and extra contents of certain nutrients, and they can also breed chickens that have more meat on their bones or lay more eggs more often, or they can make their cows produce more milk for a longer period of time between pregnancies. Evolution helped revolutionize agriculture in ways never thought possible

Unrelated to kent... but...
I was homeschooled my whole school life and it was mostly self taught using the A.C.E. curriculum. My parents more or less used the idea of getting a tutor as a threat (also told me I'd have to pay with my own money I made cutting lawns) for me to work harder and be smarter with my schooling (I wasn't overly smart esp with math)
Of course, my parents didn't know algebra or geometry themselves, nor if they did would they have actually spent time and effort to truly "teach" me...
So I started using Khan Academy for understanding math concepts and it helped me just pass my grades in highschool A.C.E. math. I was getting like 30s to 60s before it. During it I was getting 80s.
It helped tremendously.
Makes me wonder how much smarter I'd be if I had actually gotten real help learning earlier in life. And reduced my stress/anxiety/s.uicidal ideation etc during my last 6 years of homeschooling. 🤷♂️

Math is very fun when learning it outside school. I especially like solving competition level math puzzles because solving them is really satisfying
Animal and plant husbandry is proof of evolution and we've been doing both for thousands of years. We can force changes through selective breeding and observe them happen. The only difference between forced evolution and natural evolution is where the pressures and mate selection come from.
Homologous does NOT mean same. It means, "similarity due to shared ancestry between a pair of structures or genes in different taxa."
Note how he accepts that the Khan Academy do excellent teaching on many subjects, but as soon as it comes to the subject that shows his particular religion to be baloney, he suddenly has a problem with them.
Also note how Kent’s standard for truth is a debate on a channel that’s biased in his favour.

The problem with the design argument for homologous structures is that the structure is clearly not optimal for all species. It's not just the existence of these structures. It's the PATTERN of variation across taxons.
The problem with the idea of a common designer is that animals don't all use the same design for the same function. That would be evidence for multiple designers in that case. For example wings of birds, bats and pterosaurs all achieve flight but are structured different. That would mean bats, birds and pterosaurs were each designed by a different god.
