2015 2016 F150 5.0L Tuning & Dyno Results Huge Performance Increase

  • PR-X, also known as Performance Race Xtreme, is our top-performance tune for the 2015-19 F150 5.0 with a dyno proven gain of 42 HP and 50 ft-lbs of Torque on the 5.0L. Those gains jump to 55 HP and 61 ft-lbs of Torque with the addition of an aFe Momentum GT Pro 5r Stage 2 Intake. Due to the impressive power gains and performance mannered driving, this is by far the preferred tune for the 15-19 F150 5.0 truck. The truck feels so much lighter with the increased throttle response and part throttle power. Wide open throttle power is noticeably increased as well and can be as much as 95 HP depending on the rpm. The power falls off really bad at higher rpm's on the stock calibration. With this tune you are looking at huge increases in low end torque and acceleration, faster 0-60 times, quicker 1/4 mile results and shift points optimized with a focus on performance. The shift points will still be fuel efficient at very low throttle positions but will happen at a higher rpm/mph when throttle position is increased. The shifts will also be firmer and more crisp than stock. Sport mode has a noticeable increase in throttle response above that of the already increased base shift mode. Tow-haul mode will retain the towing minded shift schedule but should only be used for very light loads. Anything with some weight to it should be towed with stock or our Performance Tow tune. If your F150 5.0 is flex fuel then you can also run the tunes with a mix of E85 or even full E85. This will definitely result in better performance and an even bigger horsepower increase. morepowertuning...

    MPT, have you started to offer any strictly E85 tunes for the 5.0 yet? I know on an N/A engine you won't see near as much of a gain versus being F/I, but I'm more curious to see if you've done testing and have seen decent results.
    Great job on the gains, btw. I'm really counting the time down until I pick up a PRX tune with an nGauge for my 2015.

    The way my coyote screams kinda scares me sometimes I think I’m gonna blow it up when I step on it because it stays in gear and redlines rpm(longer than I’d like). When I think it should shift the rev limiter stays buried until I slightly let off so it can go into a higher gear. My question is could a tune fix this so I could have my shift points at 6500rpm rather than 7k

  • @sxaxmxc
    @sxaxmxc ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you make a tune that just raises shift points across the board without slamming gears like sport mode? I’m finding the truck in 6th gear doing 35 and barely over 1000 rpm. Try to go faster it lugs for a second and then downshifts to 2/3 and red lines. Seems like the modern trucks are tuned for economy and would drive better if allowed to cruise closer to 2000 like any other car

    I have a 2014 F150 5.0 and an MBRP 3" single routed behind the rear tire just like stock was and the sound is awesome. Would love a CAI and a tune. I don't want the Race tune as I'd like my tranny to last.
    1.) Is the S&B a solid CAI? They look really nice and are built well but I don't see many reviews on TH-cam o them.
    2.) Would a 85mm or 90mm throttle body be of any help with my current mods and a CAI with a tune?
    3.) If I went one step down from a race tune, what could I see in HP and torque numbers?
    4.) I'd love to get my truck Dynoed as this would give the best results, where are you located?

    Great job guys on your tune. I'm wondering what kind of gains are you getting on your 87 octane tunes. I don't want to run 93 octane that often since I drive about 20k miles a year and it would be very expensive. Also Is it correct that this video and tune was done with stock exhaust? What kind of gains are you getting with something a little less restrictive, not wide open and very loud but maybe something more conservative? Thanks and again great work

    • @mptperformance
      @mptperformance  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Expect 87 octane to make at least 8hp less than 93, even on the stock ECU calibration. Headers will make a noticeable improvement in power.Changes to the rest of the exhaust will be more of a matter of personal taste, as far as looks and sound.

      2019 F-150 has different stock intake cams as well as direct injection from my understanding. Also this is power to the wheels whereas rated power from Ford is to the crank. Allowing for approximately 15% drivetrain losses would put your 400 crank hp to approx. 340 wheel HP... lower than what this tuned 2015 puts to the wheels. Hope this helps.

      @@NoLeadsEnt 400 would be the power that the engine makes to the crankshaft/transmission input shaft. Power to the WHEELS will always be less due to mechanical losses in the transmission/driveline/differential/wheel type. Manufactures use the number to the crankshaft because it sounds better (due to always being higher). Something as simple as different tires will alter the wheel output numbers so it is also more consistent for a manufacturer to state the crank output.
      If you are still unsure of what I mean, there are plenty of sources on the internet (Including TH-cam) that can help to clarify.
