"Can spiders glide?" "I think some of them can, they can make a web parachute or something." Well, never going outside or opening the windows ever again, I suppose...
I saw one whilst on a walk, the spider was dangling of a long puffy web being carried by the wind. Apparently there webs are statically charged so that they repel off the ground.
Fun fact: Basically all spiders can glide. In a manner of speaking, anyways--they don't have enough mass for them to drop at any meaningful velocity, so you could throw any ol' spider off any skyscraper and it would basically just glide its way down, land harmlessly in your hair, and then start wiggling around while you read TH-cam comments about spiders.
Yes and no. Small animals in general are below the mass threshold for lethal terminal velocity but not all spider for sure Some tarantulas are heavy enough to be almost exclusively land dwelling and die pretty easily from short falls, to the point you're not supposed to handle them even if they're pets because a fall from your hands to the table you're sitting at can rupture their abdomen. Sometimes even falling from decorations inside their own enclosures.
@@TheBiggestMoronYouKnow I think camel spiders are supposed to be closer-related to scorpions than spiders, aren't they? But yeah, pretty sure you can throw those things off a cliff and not have to worry about it coming back for revenge.
It always bothered me that the comic Iron Spider suit had 3 legs and not 4. I'm glad the MCU gave him 4 mechanical legs even if the suit doesn't look as good as the comic version.
The first time we see the iron spider suit at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming i really disliked it. Now it’s grown in me. But I do wish it looked a bit more like a comic version but obviously didn’t want it to look to close to Iron Man I suppose
I may be wrong but seeing how Tony made it I'm almost sure I'm right, but if I recall right the reason he has only 3 and not four in the comics was just a dick joke
I hear a lot that the MCU Iron Spider doesn’t look as good as the comic one, but honestly I think the main thing there is that the very simple and streamlined comic version looks great, it wouldn’t have translated into live action. All the live action suit adaptations that work, work mainly by adding detail and texture that wouldn’t have been there in the comics. Evolving Captain America’s suit from spandex to colorful kevlar and military fatigues for the First Avenger made it feel like it could really be real. Even the raised webbing on Sam Raimi’s Spiderman suit is a bit of additional texture and detail that wasn’t present in the comics. Now of course, this strategy doesn’t ALWAYS work. It produced an Iron Spider suit that I personally like, but I understand is unpopular, and it made Wanda’s Scarlet Witch suit look 3D printed rather than feeling magical. But overall the strategy is successful 9 times out of 10, which is why I’m defending it.
@@maximillion322 I really like when Marvel Studios adapts the costumes for the big screen. They usually keep the overall look similar, but with the Iron Spider suit, they changed the design of the suit besides having legs. The MCU suit is fine, but a more faithful update is the Iron Spider suit in the PS4 Spider-Man game.
So the Vulture was in his late 60s when he started fighting New York's resident species of spider in the 1960s, which means it's possible that he was born before the turn of the century which also means that he is the oldest man alive.
Spider Cider is already a thing from Undertale though. Marvel had 53 years to claim their stake of the term and they missed it. It's Toby Fox's thing now.
Actually, the anti-magnetic inverter did work to defeat the Vulture in Amazing Spider-Man Issue #2, but during their rematch in issue #7, the Vulture had upgraded his tech to reverse polarity so that the device wouldn’t work on him again.

Let's be real, Spider-Man is more badass when he makes his own shit, he doesn't need any Stark tech bullshit, he just uses his own genius and resources, even from the trash if necessary, nothing else.
What about the spider shotgun? Instead of lead pellets, it blasts criminals with hundreds of living spiders. He rarely uses it though, because it takes a long time to collect all those spiders, and they mostly splatter on impact so he's always having to find new ones. Remember that gaget? Remember?!
You know when a spider web gets all in your face out of nowhere sometimes and you wipe it away while going 'blergh!'? That's a baby spider FLYING through the air on a filament of web to its new home. And there are likely many more also floating around ready to hit unsuspecting people in their face
Great video, but I’m sure plenty of people have pointed out that the magnetic inverter fact was wrong? 5:25 James seems to accidentally be describing / came up with the little web cape that Spider-man 2099 has. It's made from future substance called light byte that lets him glide in the air. When he upgrades to the white 2099 suit the light byte becomes web wings that do the same. 2099 doesn't have webs so they're useful to him.
I'm not 100% if I've imagined this or not, but I recall in one of the animated shows he has a Spider-Cycle that's basically just a TRON bike. It goes up and down walls and it might be able to swing by itself? I recall too that there's a bit in Ultimate Spider-Man where SHIELD just gives him vehicles because they can't afford his webs anymore... despite having like 500 helicarriers which are surely worth trillions.
Imagine having a Spiderman game in the style of the Just Cause game. Because in the just cause games he has a glider and a grapple gun and when he glides he shoots the grappler on building to boost the speed of the gliding. Spiderman can do the same with his web slinging and the gliders, cool concept.
