That concussion banter was masterful. Personally I like the continuity smontinuity approach where the only things that are Canon and the things that are referenced in the thing in the moment and that's it. That's an appropriately comicbooky way of doing things with different writers and artists. While the MCU has conditioned people to just look at everything as a giant list of sequels, the average movie goer barely pays attention and the rest of us are just overly enthusiastic. As long as theres not actively contradictory stuff happening in parallel, like if Peacemaker cameos in the new superman and then within in his own show while that's in theaters Cavill superman shows up. The way they should handle it IMO is that they should do a “Previously On” before the first episode starts and during the Justice league scene you could have Hawkgirl, Guy Gardner, and Mr. Terrific from the Superman movie show up instead. I mean they were filming at the same time which could’ve opened up an opportunity to refilm it. Plus Season 1 takes place before Superman, so it’d make sense that those heroes would show up and not Superman. If they do this tho, I’d like them to reupload episode 8 of season 1 to include this new scene so that they can say all of Peacemaker is canon to avoid any sort of further confusion. They can include the original scene in the extras.

You're missing the easy one. He can just ignore this scene entirely and act like it didn't happen. Goodness knows comic books sometimes deal with discontinuity that way from time to time.
I always thought, and I said this elsewhere that they should set it up to where they're actually about to address it seriously so the scene plays out as intended from Chris' perspective, maybe even swapping out not-Henry Cavill for Corenswet and adding maybe a Green Lantern there, but then it cuts to the other ARGUS guys and they're like "who the f*** is he talking to?" and its just revealed to be another one of his delusions like his dad, and it would also make him bragging about meeting the Flash or doing it with Wonder Woman so much funnier in hindsight, because of course he'd be crazy enough to think he was this super respected paragon of the hero community
The simplest solution to all this was the Flash movie, which was *supposed* to be an in-universe explanation for a retcon and even had a version of time travel that warped reality so that some aspects don't get changed but others are entirely unrelated to what cane before, so Peacemaker and The Suicide Squad would just be remnants of what existed before reality was warped repeatedly by Flash's antics. But of course, this is the Flash movie we're talking about, which was messy beyond reason, overcomplicating its time travel logic by having it be capable of somehow both warping reality in unpredictable ways and creating entirely separate universes and finally ending on the joke of Barry switching his Batman for a George Clooney Batman variant because DC couldn't decide what continuity they were even continuing with until finally having the Gunnverse sprout from the crumbling Snyderverse. 5:18, That being said, this scene sounds hilarious and feels like it would fit the series well.
Great solution, In the scene, other people pass by and don't even notice the Justice League there, a line from one of his friends like "Who were you talking to?" implying that he was hallucinating would solve it easily.
Peacemaker is going to be 'Harbinger' when Gunn does 'Crisis on Infinite Earths', and his already messed up mind saw an 'alternate timeline/future' version of the Justice League 😏
Just George Lucas it. Remove that scene on streaming (for now) - stick in in the extras tab or something. Then when you've got your entire justice league cast, put it back in with the new actors.
All we need to understand is that Flash happened after this, and he messed up "the spaghetti" so going forward, some events and actors are canon and others have been altered, all we know for sure right now is the entire superman portion of the universe is changed, Batman has a son, and Ezra flash as well as some version of Jason Mamoa Aquaman are banished to the Clooney universe, yes every universe Ezra went to had a Jason Aquaman, but that doesn't gaureentee us that's gonna be true to our now altered main universe, so, just go into it knowing EVERYTHING is canon, until we see the contrary on screen.. and to me that's the easiest

We do see the justice league in the DCU though, in the Circe vision we see a number of a superheros including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and a version of the flash

Haha the dialogues were so on point, I had a huge smile kn my face hearing it all...I think it is pretty simple like you said to handle this, it's not that complex.
How to solve this: *Don't.* Gunn said this one scene isn't canon and... that's it. That's all he needs to do. No retcons, no nods to the camera - nothing. That scene isn't canon anymore. Nuf sed.
We see him hallucinating his dad at one point so I see no reason why they can't just say "Peacemaker had a couple hallucinations after a hard fought battle and hitting his head too hard". especially since no one else in his group acknwoledges them in that scene
I think the general idea that's being followed is whatever happens in Peacemaker and The Suicide Squad are not one-for-one exactly the same in the old DCEU and the new DCU. The general ideas will be similar enough however that you get the idea that vaguely the same stuff happened, just with different faces.
Honestly people try to write funny dialogue for someone else's well defined characters and it's had about a zero percent success rate until that scene. You pretty nearly nailed it. Also one of my biggest annoyances with the wealth of great television is how many wonderful shows get lost in the pile, so reason number 60 morbillion to be glad Gunn is the new Snyder is a second season of Peacemaker.
You solve it by saying the new season follows an adjacent universe where the main characters and their story is largely identical save for a handful of details
Side note, I really hope James uses the young justice design for the Martians. They truly look alien and like they’re but body is adapted for their planet like we are for earth
Don't all of these fixes have the same problem as the original scene? The characters would need to exist to be a dream/hallucination or it would basically be a premonition wouldn't it?
Exactly, also references to Wonderwoman, flash, Aquaman still exist, so they would need to already be active. since the references aren’t crucial to the plot just ignore them. I would do the same with Justice League, but since it will be addressed just have it be a hallucination and just say it was some other heroes idk.
What they should do is slightly change the design of Peacemaker’s outfit to show its changed continuity while we assume most things happened the same like what they tried to do in Shazam 2. Plus they can now sell the new design as merch
Just having alternate but similar universes can explain away all of this. Same with Michael Gough as Alfred in the first four major batman movies. The boring but viable answer is dont worry about it. Its different but its not that different. Personally id love him to just kind of remember and get a weird nose bleed and thats all we need
I think the best thing to do is once everyone is officially cast, Gunn should just reshoot the scene with the new JL. Probably easiest to comp them in rather than a full reshoot upwards of 5 years later
It cause no problem due to the three different actors portraying Batman in the Flash. The multiverse was established in the DCEU ... which means Gunn can transfer all of The Suicide Squad & most of Peacemaker to the DCU. There will be a Universe where the Justice League shows up late & not at all, with and an Aquaman or Flash played by different actors. So now DC fans should only focus on the DCU being built as it is not the DCEU.
Isn't it confirmed that White Dragon is returning for Season 2? Seems like it's already going to take place in an alternate timeline. Idk if that matches exactly what Gunn said, but they also said The Flash was one of the best movies of all time so they're not exactly a reliable source. I mean Season 1 has to take place in the old DCCU no matter what, because it picks up exactly where The Suicide Squad left off, and that connects back to everything else.
Ironically the Justice League being there is actually more of a problem because they pretty relaxed about the situation, peacemaker and vigilanted are wanted criminals and they are walking away with an injured woman from a barn explosion.
I like the implication the DCEU as a whole was just a concussive, alien-acid trip
No way. Alien acid trip will feel more consistent than the entirety of the DCEU

Ezra Miller being in peacemaker still haunts me to this day
Haha the dialogues were so on point, I had a huge smile kn my face hearing it all...I think it is pretty simple like you said to handle this, it's not that complex.
Honestly this makes a lot of sense and would work… they could even list off the cases of obvious major cases of concussions like CTE
This is pretty accurate to what I think will happen though I kind of expect it to be a lot shorter. More brushed under the rug.
Blue beetle is the first superhero we became aware of in the continuity.
How to solve this: *Don't.*
Gunn said this one scene isn't canon and... that's it. That's all he needs to do. No retcons, no nods to the camera - nothing.
That scene isn't canon anymore. Nuf sed.
Agreed. I think it would be best not to mention the DCEU Justice League.
Gunn literally said there'll be an explanation for that justice league scene at the finale
He said it will be explained
We see him hallucinating his dad at one point so I see no reason why they can't just say "Peacemaker had a couple hallucinations after a hard fought battle and hitting his head too hard". especially since no one else in his group acknwoledges them in that scene
I will never forgive my youtube notifications for not telling me that there is a new Nando V Movies video
Happy new year Nando 🎉
Bro your John Cena is on point. You should be dubbing him, lol.
He's faster in the water
WHAT WATER??? We were in the middle of the forest! 😂😂😂
Ok that scene you did with the Peacemaker crew was spot on! Either way I trust Gunn on how he goes about this.
Dang last video of 2024. Happy New Years Nando!
Imagine if James Gunn steals this line by line
This was a fun New Year's watch 😊. This scene would be PERFECT.
How did you manage to steal that Peacemaker season 2 clip from James Gunn’s hard drive that you leaked at the end of the video?
I think the general idea that's being followed is whatever happens in Peacemaker and The Suicide Squad are not one-for-one exactly the same in the old DCEU and the new DCU. The general ideas will be similar enough however that you get the idea that vaguely the same stuff happened, just with different faces.
Nice dialog. I actually laughed. I hope you get a chance to write a movie like this one day.
Already past midnight so this is gonna be my first youtube video of 2025
another super great video. always enjoy the content, nando!
That was really funny and believable dialogue.
He already answered the question in peacemaker.Season two and everyone is going to love it
Snyderverse was the DCEU's very own gas leak season
I like your "dumb" option number 4. That could actually work.
Nice job on the dialogue in this video
Isn't it confirmed that White Dragon is returning for Season 2? Seems like it's already going to take place in an alternate timeline. Idk if that matches exactly what Gunn said, but they also said The Flash was one of the best movies of all time so they're not exactly a reliable source. I mean Season 1 has to take place in the old DCCU no matter what, because it picks up exactly where The Suicide Squad left off, and that connects back to everything else.
I feel the scene went on for too long just to address the cameo, but overall it works for me. Kudos
I feel like it’s pretty simple they just weren’t there they didn’t have any impact on anything in the story of peacemaker other than the small cameo
Ironically the Justice League being there is actually more of a problem because they pretty relaxed about the situation, peacemaker and vigilanted are wanted criminals and they are walking away with an injured woman from a barn explosion.
The events of it happened in the new universe but somethings were a little different for example the justice league never came in is how I think it
This is pretty brilliant
That is as close to the Piecemaker dialogue as I've ever heard😂😂
I feel like it'll be addressed in one line of dialogue as one of your bad options, simply because it's not this big a deal
