I've had my 5DMK4 for 5-6 years now, ya think I could get it to update the firmware, NOOOO always missing something, no kidding I missed that part about putting the camera n P mode, what a dope, formatted the card, dropped the file onto it, back in the camera update, and poof away we go..... I can't thank you enough for opening my old eyes to my problem.
Success! I figured it out!! The .FIR file was sitting right in locations just below where I had the SD card plugged in and I just dragged and dropped it! Yeah!
Even if you have 3 options, one of them should give you the version of the firmware the camera has installed. You may need to do some research on where to find the firmware version on your particular camera.
If you look at the file path on my screen you can see where 'Here' is on my machne. I can't put a link in the description of where 'here' is on your machine as I don't know where you downloaded the file, or what system you are using. Traditionally on a Windows machine, the download will go into your 'Downloads' folder. But I don't know what system you are on, or if you actually saved the file.... That's something you will need to find yourself.
Easy to understand the Explanation. Covers all the steps. Thank you
Yes it’s easy if you do it regularly. Otherwise you forget. Thanks for posting!

No cables are needed for this. The cable you see in the video is an HDMI out, so I could record the menus for the video.
When I go into the menu of my canon 5d mark iii.. the wrench icon only had three tabs.. not five. I cannot find "firmware" anywhere in the menu..

How do I update a Canon EOS 400D that has a CF-card? No computer has that slot anymore...
You should be able to plug your camera into a PC using USB and transfer files to the card that way
I have 6d mark II but I can't install 1.1.6 firmware on my camera. What will I do?
Are you getting any errors, or problems putting the firmware on your SD card?
It was great until you said the file that you downloaded is here. WHERE is HERE? Need a link or description of where to find it please.

If we format card after downloading firmware,is firmware donwloaded in canon? Or we will donwload everytime?
I'm not 100% sure what you mean. Once the firmware is installed on the camera, you can format the card.
Can i update my canon eos 5D firmware version 1.1.1 to higher version?
If there is an update avalibale for you camera, above version 1.1.1 then yes you can. You will need to check the Canon website for your camera.
Do you have to use a computer to update the firmware
Yes as you need to download the firmware from the Canon website, then transfer that file to the SD card to load onto the camera.
your update took lot less time, you should have informed us that you sped up that part of video
Its a free video......stop bitching.
Is it possible to upgrade a japanese camera 5D Mark IV (English + Japanese) with an European firmware?
I believe it is possible, but the language may change on the camera.
