I've noticed quite a few people seem to seek refuge on Alpha after dealing with drama on Zodiark, we had a couple join our FC from Zodiark who dealt with drama there. Unfortunately, one of them started drama in our FC... so pls, if you want to seek asylum on Alpha, don't bring the drama with you lol.

There's been a trend with these stories...99% are RPer's not being able to separate themselves from their character.
? None of them was an RPer. They met in a club, yes, but many players frequent those without bothering to RP, let alone the spicy stuff...

This one in particular was harder to tell but the way they write, very much like someone who regularly RPs. I got nothing against anyone who role plays be it in Final Fantasy or Dungeons and Dragons. But to keep it healthy you gotta know where your character ends and you begin. A lot of the stories Pathra reads majority of the time come across as RPers who don't know how to separate their character from themselves.

@markup6394 My fiancé has her MA in English. She teaches English at our local college and has been published multiple times. She doesn't RP in FFXIV. She's a very casual player. Doesn't do much outside of the main story. I know that you can be a writer and not RP, but the likelihood of someone who is Role-playing who's able to recall exact words said multiple years ago in FFXIV, is very high.

I swear FC leaders are like 50/50... they're either the chillest person you've ever met, or a psycho on a power trip. My crazy FC leader story:
I found a FC that, on the outside, seemed perfect. They held lots of FC events, weekly movie nights, glam contests, did mount farming and all kinds of other activities. On top of that, everyone in the FC was very active. I joined, along with my boyfriend at the time(both in game and out of game, we lived together irl) and got along well with everyone. The FC leader was a girl; she and many of the officers were people that had broken off from a larger guild due to, in their words, their FC leader being power hungry and awful.
Weeks passed, and we got closer to many people in the FC, there were several other couples present that made it a nice and chill place to game. There were a few in particular that also played other games with us, so we became close; but the longer we were there, the more we saw cracks in the leadership. There was clear favoring of the clique that made up the officers. Whenever there was a mount farm, 12-15 people would sign up, but then the group would always be made up of those same 8 people. Whenever there was a glam contest, one of those same 8 people would always be the winner. It got to the point where many people were questioning it, and some left the FC. I didn't participate in some of the events, so it really wasn't a big deal to me, though for the ones that did, I can see why they felt bad about it. The real questionable things didn't hit for me until a bit later.
I knew most of the fc, the couples and single people alike, were all pretty lewd at times. This was not out of the ordinary, and comes with the territory as we reside on Crystal/Balmung. I never really thought much of it, until one of my friends mentioned that he didn't like what the FC leader was doing. We all knew that she would be super flirty with most of the single guys in the FC, that she would go find men to ERP with and fawn over on the daily. I honestly didn't care; If that's how she has fun, more power to her. But that all changed when he clarified. He told me that she had a husband irl, and that you could quite literally watch her change personalities every day at a certain time. She would be flirty and hanging all over other men all day until the evening... until the moment her husband got home from work each day. It was one of those things that, once you saw it, you couldn't unsee it. I was never close with the FC leader, as we had very different personalities, but knowing that she was essentially cheating on her irl husband really rubbed me the wrong way. Unfortunately, we had no way of telling him, because he didn't play the game, we were all forced to just watch. Most of us did a poor job of hiding our disapproval, and so she really didn't like us for it.
Things really hit the fan a few weeks later though. One of the couples in the FC broke up. I was good friends with the guy, and always friendly with the girl. Just happened to be better friends with the guy because he would play other games outside of FF, like league of legends, with my boyfriend and I. He took the breakup pretty badly, and just needed space, so he left the FC soon after. I understood why pretty quickly, as his ex-gf almost immediately moved on to dating one of the male officers in the FC. I felt super bad for my friend, but was still supportive and still hung out with him in FF and on other games on the regular. I would sit with him on FF, just chit chatting as is my normal, but as days passed, i could feel a tension.
People in the FC started VERY noticeably ignoring me. I would say hello when I got on, to no response, I would comment on things other people said, or answer questions to zero response save for a few lower ranking people in the FC speaking up. It got to the point where I said in FC chat, at a point where there were multiple officers AND the FC leader online, that if someone has a problem I would appreciate if they did the mature thing and just talked to me about it. Again, no response. They had an event that evening, an FC gathering which I attended but was made to feel like I didn't belong at. It was honestly just awkward the whole time, so after the event I packed up my room in the FC house and left. Immediately after, they kicked my boyfriend from the FC as well for no reason. I got asked why I left by a friend still in the FC and simply stated that I wasn't about to sit and deal with goofy drama in a video game, I did literally nothing to deserve how I was treated, so I left. My boyfriend did some prodding, and found out the truth. It turns out that the FC leader had a 'list'... and if your name got put on said list, the leadership was to ignore you until you just left the FC on your own. Instead of saying, possibly a single sentence to clear up the issue... they would IGNORE YOU... until you left. Quite honestly the weirdest and most immature thing I had ever dealt with, in an MMO, in my life lol. Also, it turned out that the reason my name got put on 'the list' was because I chose to stay friends with, and still hang out with, my guy friend that had left the FC. I guess they expected me to be a sheep and suddenly not be his friend anymore. What a strange concept.
You would think that's the end, but nope. Over the next day, another 4-6 people left the FC, because apparently the FC leader had said some very non-LGBTQ friendly things, and had been treating people in that crowd poorly for a while, so everyone in the FC that was a part of that crowd left. They created a link-shell, and invited me to it, saying I was always one of the nicest/most accepting people in that old FC, and they apologized that I was also getting treated so poorly. I told them to think nothing of it, it's in the past and I was glad they all still considered me a friend. I guess after I left, they decided they didn't have to take it anymore either. The situation, at that point, was so bad that the FC leader stepped down, appointed one of her officers to be the new FC lead (he's still the FC lead even now, years later) and transferred off the server.
Amazingly, the FC is still going strong, hopefully with more accepting leadership. A few years ago, when I was in the FC, it had only around 60 people in it... now it has like 500 and while the FC leader, from back then, is apparently gone, most of the officers who supported her antics are still the same even now.
well anything that displays "power" or the illusion of it is likely to attract people who want others to see them as powerful. Why you get so many toxic mentors or out of pocket legends
Unironically, this exactly happened to me. Like literally one-to-one, same server, same constellation of people. I wonder if it's the same FC holy frick!!!

I've always thought about posting my own drama story in the discord, but its only involves FFXIV towards the end, since its MMO migration drama

Ah ffxiv drama, I remember our FC saved a alot of gil to buy a big house. The FC leaders GF spent it all on the tiniest house ever. (It was like 50mil atm) because she did not want to wait for someone to sell there big one or one to become available. She had the balls to name the house “The G.O.A.T”, I was 2nd in command in the FC, raid leader, character booster, wheeler and dealer (i was in discords/reddit and everywhere wheeling and dealing for a plot/house.) I was FC Leader in everything but title. I was so mad. She could not resell the plot for what she paid for it. It ended up with the guild breaking up and I transferred servers.

I believe Discord has a function that allows you to grant temporary membership that kicks them as soon as they disconnect unless they are assigned a role.
After listening to a lot of these drama videos (it's really enjoyable), FFXIV players in particular are conflict-averse. They would rather leave than remove problematic element. It happens a lot in PF when like 1 person keeps messing up, people leave instead of removing that 1 person.
I love how "nobody is able to talk about people we kicked out!" sounds so stupid and unreal... but after my experiences with FCs in this game I totally think all that story is true and real.

I remember some FC drama I had once, FC leader at the time accused her second in command of trying to steal the FC from her and when I asked the Second in command what happened she told me that she wanted to co-lead the FC and brought it to our leaders attention she felt ready to take on some more responsibility and wanted to see about co-leading which was twisted by the FC leader to thinking she was going to lose everything, ultimately the our second in command left the FC and about half the members followed her, I was offered an invitation to join the new FC if I ever left the old one but I chose to stay out of some strange loyalty. In the end I think Both FC's ended up dead, because our FC leader gave over the leadership position to her eternal bond partner, eventually I left because I was really starting to feel depressed because everything was dead in the water even the Discord because the previous FC leader dropped everyone from the discord except "close friends" so I left my goodbye in the discord and went freelance to wonder around in Balmung for a bit and eventually met up again with a friend I made in the PvP scene who I had fun 1v1-ing, told them about my situation and they offered an invite to the FC they were in, got vetted to join and things are kinda chill where I'm at now. I try to check in on my old friends but it seems like most of everyone I knew either deleted their accounts or unsubbed I guess and the discords of both the FC's from my former friends are dead too, with me being the only one leaving messages in the general, chats 9/10 of the time.

Why would you ever Lich for Zodiark? Zodiark is a cesspool of powertripping "alpha" males and mean girls. (Of course not everyone but i started there 7 years ago and couldnt leave fast enough)

I have stories for day from wayyy back when.. (been playing since 2014) they are why I have an fc of my own and I am ALLERGIC to drama. I don't care what opinions anyone may have of me, but I love my peace more than having fellowship with potential drama folks.
I hope everything works out for them. The FC I'm in seem to be good when i first start playing before Emdwalker but now i seem to be one of the last members left sadly. Only been staying in it because of the submarines i been sending out, might look for new one to join when Dawntrail comes out. I even decided a few days ago to look the discord for the first time and there was nothing.

I never been in FC drama myself personally, but the first FC I was in disbanded because the officers and FC Leader were in a fight with each other. One day, me and my boyfriend (we live together) went online and the first message we got in chat was "Hey, we're gonna disband the FC at the end of this month so you can either leave yourself or get kicked out by us." Needless to say we were so confused and just kept staring at our screens in silence. We never got the real gist of things because the officers and FC Leader refused to talk about it with the other members. All I know is that the FC Leader moved to another server with a few of the officers while the others remained. In the end, the FC got disbanded and we haven't heard of any of the other members since. I suppose everyone went separate paths.
Had an FC leader myself that was very controlling. Always telling me how I rped wrong. Didn't even want me to wear yellow because it was their color. Then kicked me out of the FC for rping with someone not in the FC.
I am new and I started playing because I wanted to play with some old highschool friends of mine. I planned to join a random FC so I can try and meet more people online but tbh, if I ever have a chance to be in a middle of something like this, I think I will just stay with my friends.

I’ve experienced some guild officers/leaders that would actually STALK people who left the guild, complain to them towards their newer members & and even create a whole LS just to smack talk kind of bad
Classic FF14 story. From my experience a good 40% of the playerbase (especially those frequenting venues) are just shit-tier humans.
Last time I got kicked from guilds, one was because I out-DPS'd the leader's wife while I was 2 tiers undergeared.
Ended up getting kicked from a top raiding guild on a server, and by simply treating their people like people instead of tools, managed to get their core raiders to follow me, without me even suggesting they do so.
Then there was the time I got kicked out because I told the GM to "Not get her panties in a bunch" because she was raving about something pointless. I can't even remember that one well, it was 10+ years ago. XD

I have a static, at least half of the ppl are from my FC, I'm an officer in my FC. We have separate discord for raiding. If I have an issue with a static member, my FC leader is always informed as I do not want drama leaking to FC and vice versa. It all depends on FC leadership and Static leader to manage this sort of situations. To make it easier on my static, I promoted a 2nd in command to which ppl can go if there is an issue with my behaviour. Raids are recorded and available to everyone in the static, no DMs, no secret messaging. Treat others how you want to be treated. Zodiark best server

What's the essential difference between a static inside an FC, versus a raidgroup inside a guild in any other MMO where that is the default? The only reason I could think that would be the case is a lower tolerance for criticism since that's not permitted in pug envronments?
Many strong relationships can be formed online- but a lot of the toxicity I see people facing in ffxiv is through the concerted cultivation of 'Strong Relationships'.
Always remember, it's safest to not get too personal with online strangers and that FFXIV is JUST A GAME!
Never leave a large plot for a man
I was in Dreadwyrm academy on Adamantoise….our FC leader was a piece of garbage too. I ended up creating an alt just to get away from the leaders toxicity. A few more months after that I ended up changing servers when a few real life friends started playing as well to leave the Toxicity, we started our own FC on Coeurl…Neph was a terrible leader. As a new leader I vowed not to do anything that guy did. The sad part is everyone else in the FC was great, his second in command Arc was a great guy and he taught me a lot too. But a toxic leader can break the game for you.

FC statics work if everyone is on the same page. My FC has statics.... I do not run with them but nothing seems off about anyone and no one has left because of drama related to statics.

I refuse to make another FC in FFXIV, the last FC I formed, I recruited a bunch of people and then assigned all the roles for different things like decorating the FC house, maintaining the FC chest among other tasks, things were going fine for like 6 months, but then couldn't get people to join in events, some weird things were happening, dumb drama stuff, eventually this one guy I assigned as my second in command decided he wanted to take over so he got everyone to turn on me and they stripped the FC house bare, took all the money and items from the FC chest and then quit the FC.. never again, ill only join them, not make my own, or if I make my own it's just gonna be me..(50mil worth of stuff was in the FC chest as well as 20mil in Gil).

Its so weird. Im probably not the target audience for drama but yknow im not above listening to some FF14 chisme at work. I think the idea of potentially finding a relationship in the game is kinda cute, but thats why everyone is here right, to play the game? I really dont understand how people can get so lost in the sauce like this, or how no one in these situations can look at themselves and the people theyre with and ask "is this really what we're doing with our lives rn this is ridiculous just play the game". My friend went through veeeryyyyyyy similar situations in Titanfall 2, there was always this (from my perspective) meaningless and childish behavior going on and i always tried my best to steer them away from that crowd. The depths these people will go to break someone because they just absolutely cannot divorce themselves from their emotional attachment to a game is astounding.

Its just so weird that troy did absolutely nothing. He just let alot of this stuff happen lmfao. And why didnt they just blacklist FC lead since the beginning? As the story went on too we learned more and more about the static members and annabella. Some of this stuff wouldve been nice to know from the beginning. Seems like OP was just adding things as they was going on about their story, not to mention OP was basically a mary sue through all of this. All of this sounds fake, i dont want to keep saying this, but with recent uploads alot of these stories sounds so one sided or made up.
I don't see how any of them were Mary Sue/Gary Stu. They were harassed, stalked, and gaslit into thinking bad about each other. It's pretty clear OP and Troy are both relatively introverted since they're non-confrontational. Not everyone has the guts/patience/time to retaliate against some random stalker. And even if they do retaliate against Annabella, they risk villainizing themselves amongst the rest of the FC members who they are still in good relations with.
It's just a classic case of playground bullying. Annabella is a narcissist who gets their rocks off of ruling over others. I've had my fair share during grade school and it's affected how I interact with people. You can't assume somethings fake just because it hasn't happened to you.

@@Temptest09 I'm mostly introverted and I'm extremely eloquent when it comes to writing out my experiences. I'm still working on verbally explaining my thoughts in the moment, but I know how it feels to recall events so other people can hear it in an interesting fashion. People tend to have "hindsight arguments" where they imagine what they could've and wanted to say. Maybe OP had some of these moments, but that further proves my point of this experience being real and relatable.
Also, just because you're introverted doesn't mean you're shy and secluded from people. It could simply mean you don't want to deal with people. Sharing a story with a TH-camr you know is completely different from dealing with a problematic acquaintance.
If this is coming from a place of "This sounds cringe, so it has to be fake." Then you need to meet more people in life. This kind of drama happens in friend groups, in workplaces, and any communal activity. It's a human experience to encounter drama, and it's how people learn red flags.

BF allows her girl to take unnecessary heat while doing absolutely nothing. They continue to interact with someone that they could've easily blocked and avoided this entire weird scenario. Yes this is fake to me. Any adult starting from the years of 18+ could've just saw how weird these people are and just blocked them while continuing their friendship with others if they choose to. Sharing a story to a youtuber that will share it to thousands of people should be a bit of a hesitating point, especially if they're as you're describing. They don't know this youtuber personally, they are someone random reading a story to thousands of people. Just because you watch a youtuber doesn't mean you know them lmao.
I have a job that has me travel outside of my state and in some rare instances out of the country, i have met people, people that come from all walks of life. I can speak from some experience when i say that this story to me sounds fake as hell. The MC and everyone involved as someone said it in a different comment; "Have the mental and emotional capacity of a 15 year old" and it 100% shows in the story and everyone involved as well.
In my friend group(s), you know what they do when they meet weird ass people like this? Left click and block on discord. Right click and blacklist on XIV. In work environments, which funny that you bring up because i was a witness to this scenario, the person being harassed actually went to our team lead and HR to report the situation. Which got the bad apple in particular fired. So forgive me if all of this sounds like a 15 year old wrote it so Pethra can read it out loud. But you can easily scour the comment section and see similar responses to mine. Comparing an actual in face harassment to behind the screen is silly to me. A lot of this just sounds unbelievable, you're an adult, you can block people, these people have 0 control over you. You can avoid them and stop them from interacting with you. You're not being forced to interact with them, you're choosing to.
Edit: Lets also not forget about the inconsistencies in the story that lead me on the "this is fake" side.

Straight up blocking the FC leader, who's a known gossiper and gaslighter, can easily burn bridges with the rest of her friends. It's not a OP vs. Mean Girl scenario. It's OP trying to maintain her relationships with other people despite the Mean Girl scenario. It's a tough decision to make in the moment and I can't judge for them, no matter how clear the answer may be in hindsight.
When it comes to emotional maturity and how people handle things, you have to put yourself in the shoes of others at the moment. I know how OP feels because I've had a mentally abusive childhood. When connections and relationships are already hard to come by, we'll do anything and endure abuse to keep them. Despite the fact that it's unhealthy, it's a cycle we learn to break out of.
Again, I don't know if OP had similar experiences and they have every right to keep their trauma private. But I do know that relationships are tough. You can't just "Block and Bye" every interaction on the first sight of trouble. Building a relationship requires hardship, but also boundaries. Clearly, Anabella overstepped the boundaries for multiple people on multiple occasions.
Funny how you mentioned HR because most HR departments wouldn't give a hoot about harassment. So props to your place for doing what's right.

This feels pretty fake. OP was friends with Ryu and Caleb first, it's BS she isnt allowed to talk about her friends. It feels kinda sus that somehow everyone in the static was also in Troys FC and it wasnt mentioned earlier in the story that it was a FC static.
Troy was also in VC with Anna, Anna's BF, and Melina. And while Melina was getting literally abused by FC leader and her boyfriend, Troy didnt try to stop it? He didnt say anything? It just sat there and let it happen? but then Melina would confide in him about it? That sounds awful and not something a friend would sit by and let happen.
Like. Melina was in the static before wolfie joined the FC and Melina joined after Wolfie. that how i understood the story. Unless they all created the static after everyone joined.
A lot of these stories feel fake to me. Either everyone involved is no older than a high school sophomore or the stories never actually happened.
