    It's shocking how few item spaces you get to set out in housing. My fc got a mansion and the upstairs/downstairs are almost entirely blocked because there's just not enough slots to decorate nicely and use the entire house.

      I’ve had to use partitions to fill out a lot of the space so it doesn’t feel that empty, also had to block half the downstairs so it isn’t just a big empty room. Houses definitely need more item spaces, mansions most of all

    • @Sephtyx
      @Sephtyx ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Alex Renee it’s terrible how little you actually get. And if you want to fill out rooms you’re still going to be left with some open space here and there not to mention you can’t even add the small items to go on a shelf or whatever. I’ve done the best I could to mine but like I said I’ve had to split rooms in half and one room I’ve had to block off altogether.

    I'm an omnicrafter myself. I have some friends who likes to ask me to craft new gear sets and such but they always offer to buy all the needed mats, crystals, etc. so that the only thing I am contributing is my time. I never ask for a gil comission if all the mats are supplied (friend discount ). Hearing how the OP is being used is just awful. :(

    • @ElShogoso
      @ElShogoso ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, that's more or less my vibe too. Personal friend? Just give me the mats. FC member? Depends on the "job" in question, if it's something trivial I'll just ask for the mats, if it's expert crafting then I demand gil. I don't feel obligated to accept requests if I don't feel like it either, I'm not gonna stop my raid progression to make furniture for someone lol.

      Yeah, I craft primal weapons for friends/new folk in my fc all the time, and they always bring me the mats and stuff. I sometimes will offer up my own mats, like when we had a Hallowe'en party with a costume contest. I offered to make primal weapons as prizes, but no one ver just demands I spent my own time and gil to give them things...

    I had to do a double take when it cut to you heading to the beach area because my character is also named Mimi Kyu lol But it's nice to see another one out in the wild!
    As for OP's story, I don't have much to say but I'm glad they seem to be happier with their new FC and friends, while also seemingly still on ok terms with some of their old friends. Sometimes irl groups do end up splitting up over the weirdest things when it comes to gaming, but it did also feel like they were taking advantage of the crafting and housing stuff.
    Moments like that is partially why I tend to only craft for one person (my bf, as I consider it my payment for all the stuff he has to craft for the both of us, especially when he needs to make two sets of crafting/gathering gear). It's not that I don't trust my other friends, I just don't want to end up being the person they come to every time when they want something crafted (and I can't craft everything anyways, so that's another reason why).

    I'm very similar in the vain of I'm an omni crafter/gatherer who spent wayyyyy to much time doing side content and putting off story compared to my friends who would blaze to end game.
    I would always offer to craft whatever people needed cause I spent so long stockpiling mats and such that I could honestly and easily make whatever for anyone. Many of my friends though often felt a bit awkward about asking for stuff I can make for nearly no Gil, that they would spend around 100k plus on, that I just started asking for tombstone or script mats from them in return. So when I started making rinacita gear sets for them, they would get me around 10k in tombstone mats thet help me make more.
    I now employee 1 friend to farm stormsap for me cause they don't wanna work the MB and also give glam advice to others. I do my best to be helpful to people and also give them options to repay me that isn't Gil.

    Oh yea i most definitely have been in this situation. I love crafting and became an omnicrafter and joined a growing fc after moving to DC. There were a few of us crafting but slowly one by one stopped crafting and did other content. Me on the other hand though, crafted pots and food for a couple statics in the FC. They were kind enough to help provide me with the mats and i craft massive amounts of raid food for them easily 500+ almost every week and IT WAS TIRING but I did it as I was the only one. Then one day i saw the SB dragon mount. I naturally asked for help to farm them. I already had most of them at that point and needed 2 more. They were rude about it as they raid most of the time and asked me to use PF but like the OP i wanted to play with some friends that ive bonded with PLUS they already had the mount. Some other stuff happened bla bla bla promise broken and lots of disrespect. I left the FC house to make my own for the subs with intentions of not recruiting. I do make friends here and there while gposing other than that i rather be alone.

    • @esra013
      @esra013 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That is insane, crafting 1 set of food is around 1 minute and crafting 500 of them is easily like 3-4 hours of your time every week, even more considering the time taken to prep and stuff. My FC have a crafting company that is solely dedicated to crafting when patch drops and only for the week when patch drops. We make tons of money and gets everyone geared up with pots and raid food and never touch crafting again until the next patch, if someone needs it then they can just buy/craft it.

    • @marcusromulus1498
      @marcusromulus1498 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@esra013 thats cool man. I still craft just for minor stuff to sell then log off. But yea it was borderline insane and that doesnt include pots yet. Ive had a couple bad FCs before. Thought this one was different and i was wrong.

      Props to you for leaving those "friends". I joined a FC that was nice, truly, but they had their own cliques. If most of their friends had done something that I or any new members asked for help they would tell us to either wait for their friends to join the help or had reasons to not help us. After a while, I felt like it's better that I left so I did
      In another FC, there was a male lala who managed the FC the most though he was made an officer only for the ship thingy. Until, most of the officers were offline and he started to take other roles; cleaned and took care of the stables, renovated the mansion sometimes, crafting etc. I did ask him why he did all those every single day and he said he liked it. But I kinda had the feeling it's because he had done all these for months that he probably didn't want to "let go" his efforts. I still felt bad leaving this FC but I had to since I wanted to transfer DC to get better ping

    To talk about your friend who just crafts things for you. They are likely a bit like me in that regard. In which case, I'd like to offer you some insight.
    As a fledgling "Omnicrafter" myself (I go up to about level 58 or so, but I struggle with space and finding time to gather all my mats in the limited time I have to play... still, it's my dream to be the max level omnicrafter, since I LOVE crafting!), I often offer to just craft things that I can for people. There are two reasons I do this.
    1. I pretty much always need to empty some inventory space. If I can craft you something and it empties some of my mats, then I'm thankful I can do so. In short, you're doing me a favor. Especially since you'll appreciate the item more than the person who would buy it off the Market Board (if and when it sold).
    2. I like feeling useful to the FC, even if only a little bit. I don't want to be taken advantage of, but when I can offer something that someone in the FC wants, I feel good about contributing in my own small way.
    To that end, I'd also like to explain why they "don't take payment" for things. Here's what is usually my reasoning for turning down payment on things.
    1. I don't need anything right this minute. I've got everything I currently want and need, so I'm good. If I do need something, or want something, and you can provide it, I'll ask. Otherwise, it's free. Don't worry about it.
    2. If I do eventually need help with something, sometime down the line, I expect you to at least consider helping me and join in if I need it. If I need to clear a piece of content or something and ask for some help, I sort of expect people I've helped to offer me help. This is the unspoken rule of "helping for free". If I help you for free, I expect you to help me when I need it. If you helped me for free, then I keep track and expect to help you when you ask for it.

    I've had plenty of experiences on any game I played of people creating cliques then acting like I no longer exist whenever I wasn't of benefit for them, I used to like playing with statics but I'm the opposite now I prefer trying to do easy stuff with Randoms or solo if I can while trying to avoid interaction as much as possible, so I'm pretty much locked out of anything Extreme or Higher since they a lot of the time require statics otherwise people get discouraged quick and just leave after a wipe when working with Randoms.

One member will go and "check" the property to whine about things that are clipping or placed outside of his tastes, when the happy crafting home decorator announces that she finished a new seasonal theme for the house!
    People using other people to keep their FCs seem alive and vibrant isn't just an FFXIV thing, if you've played MMOs before you know that well xD

    Can we define 'IRL friends'? I know it's a ridiculous thing to ask but I'm confused by its usage in the story. Was there no communication outside of the game at all? Did they not do things IRL during this time? If there were issues between them in the game, wouldn't it have spilled over to IRL?

    • @MidoriGa95
      @MidoriGa95 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To me, when people say IRL I mostly think they knew each other through in real life first before together playing same game(s). So the context of having conversations in IRL probably through discord or any social platform if all of them no longer live nearby, go to places near their area or it's simply hard for them to meet up IRL anymore. I mean usually that's their reason for talking through online so I wouldn't know how it'd be like if they bump each other in real life but I assume they would just ignore each other

    • @AdamOwenBrowning
      @AdamOwenBrowning ปีที่แล้ว +1

      to most people "a friend in real life" is someone that you actually engage with irl, but these are MMO players. "IRL friends" might just mean someone who you have actually met in-person and nothing more.
      For some it's not even that - they use "irl friend" to mean those people who they talk to personally, knowing their name and their face etc. So weird to see the phrase degrade as people exist socially outside the internet a little less

    xD theres a term for players who get bothered about the size someone makes their house build- size queen. it just instantly tells me they dont know the first thing about the housing system. imagine getting upset by how someone chooses to creatively express themselves? if you want to actually put detail into the build and make it immersive, you absolutely need to downsize to some extent or you're left with a huge open cavernous area with furniture just sitting in random spots

    In my fc we have multiple crafters (and a whole room in fc house just for crafting and leveling crafters) but only a few super omnicrafters. Fc boss is richest and has the best gear so he can easily craft the newest crafted gear , while some like me have enough stats to craft the newest tinctures but not the gear without a lot of effort(cant afford to meld my tools since i already threw 8 million on crafting materia).
    When its a new savage tier tho i and several others pay my fc boss to craft us the newest gear so we can jump into the raid asap, we get a discount ofcourse, bigger discount if we bring some raw materials for the craft. But we still have to pay everything.
    Meanwhile i craft food and tinctures in bulk, and sell themdirectly or via my retainer at the fc garden for the members, tho sometimes i wish i could stop the garden retainer from selling to the market board so i can sell discount food to my fc mates without some rando on the market board snatching it up.
    For my own mini fc static tho i give them free tinctures and food in exchange for elemental crystals or thavnairian squid(because my fishing luck is so low its in the negatives)
    We did used to give 1 srt of free endgame gear to new members whenevr its their first time hitting max level, but after 1 rude asshole exploited us crafters, harassed most of the female fc members, and also swindled hundreds of thousands of money from members, we donxt give free gear anymore
