I'd never heard of her before but wow did she blow me away with those vocals. I have to hear more from her now. Thanks for sharing her with us. I loved it!
Her version of Arirang Alone is my personal favorite, it really shows off her range and technical abilities. (The version she sings is about the dream that one day Korea will be one country again, and they will cross the hill of Arirang, which is an onomatopoeia for holding back tears)
Well, he did react to her performing "I Have Nothing". And she did an epic job.
Sohyang is a gem. Her other covers include: "You Raise Me Up, Power of Love, Lean On Me, Amazing Grace, O Holy Night and I will always love you." There are some other covers in Korean that were out of this world and they are: Mona Lisa, Dear Love, Fate, Hug me, Everyone. You've been warned.

I don't think you have heard many of her Korean songs, in particular "Arirang Alone" I would highly suggest this, its a a Korean cultural song that she modernized.

She's known as Korea's Mariah Carey - but she's primarily a gospel singer
Sohyang is one of the world's great vocalists - called Korea's Mariah Carey. If you enjoy this, check out her cover of Whitney Houston's I Have Nothing. Her most impressive performance is a Korean gospel song (she is primarily a Contemporary Christian singer in Korea but does a lot of TV music shows and such) called Everyday (which is both in Korean and English) - you will be blown away. Actually all her covers are amazing - including Lean On Me.

The story goes like this. She sung in the choir at her church. Her boyfriend attended the church and heard her sing. Afterwards he said to her she should be singing for everyone bcuz she could make people happy. You would never guess her age. She was born in April of 1978,she's 44.
Her boyfriend needed a singer for their family Gospel band called POS, which means "light" in Greek. So she agreed to try it out. Are we glad she did or what? That was in the late 1990s. Best female singer in the world. She does things with her voice I have never heard before and still marvel at. She says her voice "is from God." 👌💘😎

Actually, Sohyang just turned 44 on April 5. 45 in Korean cultural terms! I know. It is hard to believe, she looks so much younger than that! I saw a picture of her taken recently and I literally didn't know which one was Sohyang. Her hair was blond, her glasses were rounded and she looked like an 18 year old! And she is just a tiny thing, only 5 foot 4 and about 100 pounds! 😮🤣🤷♂😉

The three singers you say you don't like still have incredible range in their voices (they can all not only hit a whistle note, but occelate their voices while doing it for an extended period of time) and you would at least have to give them credit for that uniqueness! 🤔 I have to say though, your "opinion" is in the minority, as you are the first person I've heard say that! Besides, just how many Dimashes are out their? That is a pretty high standard to beat! 🤷♂️

Her voice is like the rising sun on the morning flowers. She has the voice of an angel, and the beauty of one as well. She is so precious, that I cannot even find her attractive, because she seems so pure. I see her as a gift from God. God must have given her this gift to bless the world with more beauty. I always think of the movie "The Color Purple" when Shug Avery said "I think it pisses God off when you walk by the color purple in a field and don't notice it" when I hear her sing. I think that some things are just too beautiful to explain in our human tongue.
