  • Heyyy guys and welcome back to everyday with me, Nick
    So what happened ? The Chinese mini digger has broken a hydraulic cylinder mount and when does things like this happen ? It always happens on the job of course.
    So we get it back home and get on with a repair to get the digger back online and ready for work.
    Thank you all so much for your continued support, it really does mean a great deal to me. We are so close to 500 subs so please please help me get there and hopefully keep on going upwards and on wards.

    Have you considered the ram stroke might be longer than the amount of travel required to operate the blade?
    My own experience with making hydraulic powered tools taught me that the ram always wins eventually. Its easy to limit the ram stroke to the length you need with spacers. I have even used a big nut in an emergency. It was temporary only. 12 years ago.
    I try hard not to grind with skinny cutting discs. When they shatter they really hurt. I have had safely glasses save my eyes several times but it destroyed the glasses. It knackered my finger through gloves. The bit of 1mm disc embedded in the knuckle was only the size of a 2p and no weight at all.
    Good luck and thanks for the video.

      Completely correct. I bought a folding 4’x 8’ trailer years ago from Northern Tool Co. it is the same model sold by Harbor Freight. I was rear-ended, which bent the tongue. It was 12 gauge “U” channel. I replaced it with quarter-inch square steel tube. I also added a second set of rear lights so following traffic could see it when folded. I also beefed up the corners. It is an improvement. Now, of course, Harbor Freight has so many stores that it is easy to buy. But even when you check out a tool, be wary of hidden parts that can fail. That happened to an airless sprayer. Internal return spring broke on first use. No way to get specs from company so I couldn’t find replacement locally. Small town so I couldn’t even buy replacement sprayer. Not happy. Double check everything you buy and try to get spare parts “just in case.”

    • @everydaywithmenick
      @everydaywithmenick  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey buddy, I think the break originated from various blade tasks that I would assume to be standard operations. The reason for the dozer blade is to give stability when digging, prevent all the dirt from piling up into the track area, allow lifting of the machine and to move dirt with the machine. So I don't think I've done anything wrong in operating it. Also to bend the internal part of the section where it was welded to, it doesn't look like it was welded together. I'll take a closer look when I've got chance and get it up in the air.

    So you highlighted two of my concerns about buying a Chinese excavator. First is the grade of steel used. When the weld is stronger than the base, it suggests failure of the steel. Either the steel is brittle or the metal plate was too thin. Second is the type of support you can obtain from the seller. I'm just concerned that if I buy a Chinese excavator, I will have zero recourse if they either cheat me upfront or problems in getting parts replaced. Yes, I know, "Ya pays your money and ya take your chances." That includes theft during transit. The thing is, no other type of mini excavator is small enough for the work I want or need to do. How did you handle the issue of possible fraud?

    • @everydaywithmenick
      @everydaywithmenick  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hi buddy and welcome to the channel. I thank you for watching and commenting 😁
      So the concerns are real and genuine that you fear. Firstly I'll address the quality then the support etc.
      So personally I think the steel used in the areas I've seen is poor. I can see the grade of steel isn't very strong just by what looks like poor casting, even though its not cast steel on the under carriage. Personally that full undercarriage should be 10mm minimum thick steel with quite heavy duty bracing and gussets welding in place. Them dozer blades generally take the full weight of the machine most times and need to be hefty strong. So major alterations need to be done or some prep on your side when you would get one.
      Secondly the support. I have always received communication back from Infront Machinery. Whether that be on the Alibaba app or through WhatsApp. They've always replied and been quite good that way.
      Parts can be purchased and sent but it's obvious that you would have to pay shipping from China. May be a costly venture. Don't worry to much on the theft during transit, they are responsible for that crate from the moment it enters the ships manifest to the moment it is removed from the ship. If its gone during that time or doesn't turn up in your chosen country then you are OK and will be protected by the buyers policy within Alibaba.
      So Alibaba has what I belive good sellers/buyers interest in place. When you sign up to purchasing anything through Alibaba, you are in a contract. Are you going to beef up the under side of the "beam"? Since it is supposed to be a boxed beam it needs shoring up on at least three sides and I would try to carry the thickness out to the sides (are they 3/16ths plate as well ?) where they drop down to the tracks. A lot of the big names are having their stuff made in China these days to money doesn't necessarily mean quality when buying. The chinese are dragging the quality of most things down as they set the pace for other countries. I hope your hydraulic lines to the blade ram aren't cooked by how much heat was next to them. I kind of expected them to flare up where they are touching that hot steel.

    • @everydaywithmenick
      @everydaywithmenick  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Chris and thanks for your comment and hopefully your view 😄 my easy answer is YES I would do it again.
      My more complex answer would be, if money was no object then I'd go for a Volvo 😆 I really like them machines and I'd deffo get one.
      I have since been looking at prices for a 1.8t machine, still chinese brand and I believe I'd still go for Infront Machinery because they've worked with me on this problem and from that they have now implemented the upgrade onto their products they now sell. If anyone who has bought their machines and it hasn't happened to them then that is fantastic. I may have had a bad form in the steel but I'd still ask for the part and get it fitted and make it super strong for the future.
      The cost savings are definitely worth it for me, I couldn't touch a 2nd hand machine for the price I've paid for mine. So yes it has been worth it.
      I may only have 52 hours work on the machine but them 52 hours have been worked and at times, it's been worked harder than it should have too. My purpose is to use the machine and not let it idle all day, the purpose of youtube is to show folk what it can be capable of. I hope this makes sense. If there is anything more please just ask away. Thanks for your comment bud 👍

      @@everydaywithmenick Thanks for the quick reply Nick, and yes I viewed the video. I was wondering if the failure was a result of the piece just being too thin since that’s what it looked like from the video. If they are indeed correcting that design flaw, then I will consider buying the same machine. I would only be buying it for use around my property where I have many earth moving projects in my future and don’t expect to actually stress the machine to the point necessary to invoke the same failure. Thankfully I live very near a port city so shipping shouldn’t be too complex. I haven’t watched all the videos yet, but I’ll review your other videos to see if you go over the procedures and nuances of ordering via Alibaba. But we are sorted now and back running full throttle. If you do decide to go down this path, send me an email on the address given in my prior reply and ill talk a bit more in depth.
