      I just finished editing the hydraulic oil change video which will come out this coming Saturday morning. It took some time at Napa today to get the right filter, but i got one.

      @@FabbinAdventures I had a Volkswagen bug catch on fire one time, I know all too well the panic that goes with it lol. I had an extinguisher that ironically a buddy had gave me just the day before! Talk about lucky!
      My machine came with a hydraulic thumb and 2 cooling fans already installed. Unfortunately it doesn't have the fluid filter so I'll be trying to figure that one out before long.

      @mattschamel6550 haha, wow how lucky was that!
      Thats awesome that yours came with a thumb and fans! All mine came with was the spin on hydraulic filter. There are actually 3 filters or screens on mine. One where you pour hyd fluid in, one inside the tank "pick up filter" and then the spin on. I was quite surprized!

    I have been to most of the Princess Auto stores in western Canada and a few of the Harbor Freight stores in the Paciific Northwest and have found the stores vary greatly in what they carry. Some are well stocked with everything and some not so much. They each have their own strengths and weaknesses. I am lucky as I am between either of these stores and depending on what I need, I can go to the one that meets my needs. Enjoy your journey with your machine.

    Thanks for starting this project mod channel. Im in exactly the same place on my little mini excavator. I also used the 8” Princess ram but decided to adapt the fitting on the hoe to a quick connect set up to make it easy to switch attachments. I modified the manual thumb a bit to take the cylinder and it works well. Rather than remove the hoe brackets I made two plates to bolt through the existing holes and designed them to move the top of the ram a bit higher to allow nearly full retraction to the boom arm. I can seem to figure out how to attache phots but I can share if anyone is interested. Now to figure out how to make a post home auger for it.

      Ive had this channel for about 6 years now, it had revolved around fabrication. I just recently got one of these little excavators and they really lend them selves to modding and fabricating!
      Im gonna be fabbing up a wide light weight snow bucket real soon, then a ripper and a rake. I alao have an idea for a rotating grapple!

    As soon as I saw those cam latches, I knew you hinged the rear cover. I did the same thing on my QH12. I also add a fan behind the left engine panel, to help cool the engine and force hot air out through the housing holes. I also replaced the stock operating light, with a pair of better lights. Fabbed a matching mount for the opposite side of the boom. My hour meter was also broken, so I replaced it with a Tusk Rocky Mountain ATV-MC meter. Mount screws actually line up with the stock meter screws. I'm working on adapting a tilt bucket, but the hoses it came with had smaller DIN fittings. The ram didn't have any fittings. I just got those today. After that I plan to convert my mechanical thumb to hydraulic, so I'll be watching your video. The Typhon kit is about $350, so hopefully I can same $ fabbing it. Did you add an oil drain valve? I got one with a hose so oil drainage can be directed to the pan.

    Finally videos showing the flaws and the fixes. Thank you! I bought mine the same way, only at an auction, and am having zero luck. It never ran "good", but it ran. I used it for only about 5 hours and parked it. When I started it to move it in my shed, it smoked like a fog machine and started blowing oil out of the exhaust. So, when I unscrewed the oil dipstick, gas came rushing out!!! Any thoughts? Im handy, but not your level of handy. I also would appreciate anyone that has had a similar situation. Im hoping its a carb issue, or a head gasket, but afraid its a piston ring. Thanks

    • @FabbinAdventures
      @FabbinAdventures  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yep, i bet its a similar problem i had, the needle in the float is passing fuel and flooding the cylinder with fuel then its leaching its way down into your oil.
      Its actually pretty simple fix, pull carb off, and dissassemble over a pan with a rag in it to catch any parts and give a good cleaning with some carb cleaner ( the type with the little red straw that you spray through)
      Nothing should fall out, but i use the rag trick to stop the "bounce" if say a little ball bearing was to bounce out. (No ball bearings in this carb)
      They seem to be a good unit once you get the bugs out of it.
