Chinese Mini Excavator - Dozer Blade Mount Failed AGAIN !!!

  • Hi all and welcome back to another video where im severely peed off with Shangdon Infront Machinery. This is now the second time i have had the dozer blade fail where the hydraulic cylinder mounts onto the excavator chassis. The first time was about 30 hours into the mini excavators life. Then i repaired the break the first time with 12mm plate steel. I thought surely this wouldnt break again. HOW WRONG I WAS !
    Now ive had to bring it back in to get repaired for the 2nd time. This time i have used a piece of C Channel. This is a much better option as it will provide better strength to the chassis where the cylinder is mounted.
    I want to personally apologise to anyone who has purchased one of these and this happens to them, if it happens to them. Infront Machinery need to beef up this area like other manufacturers have done to theirs. Please anyone who is looking at these mini excavators need to do their research and ask for the specifics on these areas, it may not just be Infront Machinery as most of the mini excavators on Alibaba look very similar.
    Thank you to everyone who has watched and gave me good words and even those who have gave me stick for it too. Thank you guys, yous are awesome.

    Part of my apprehension over buying one of these is longevity. Sure they are cheap compared to big brands when bought, but less then 50 hrs it structurally breaks. Thanks for putting out honest videos about your experience.

      Hey buddy and thank you for commenting 👍 so I am also like you in your thoughts, I never thought this would happen so early on thats for sure. But that's why I'm here on youtube giving my views, opinions and no B S facts on the machine. Yes it's noisy and no where near as good as branded and should I have bought a well used 2nd hand one ??? YES I should have bud.
      It's nearly got 200 hours on so not all bad 😁 thanks again buddy 👍

    Hello Nick, I'm so sorry for the issues you are having with your blade mounts, that must be super frustrating with such low hours. Is that sort of thing covered by warranty? I mentioned I briefly had an XN12 then upgraded to an XN20 and there is no comparison between them. The XN20 is just so much better built and way more robust. Many speak about Chinese junk but I have a lot of confidence in the XN20 that I didn't feel for the 12. I realise that you are pissed off at the moment but just remember that you are getting quite a large following on TH-cam now and what you are posting is very important to a lot of people. And all the guys that write in to give you advice, they're doing that because they respect what you do and want to help you. Hang in there bro.

    Wow Nick can't believe that last weld gave up. By the looks of it I thought it was a great job but as you know the weakest link always breaks. All you can do is keep pressing forward. I cannot imagine there being a problem in that area after this job. Keep up the good work

    Hello Nick, don't worry about the others because to buy this type of machine you have to be a handyman. Don't forget that they have a "parts" guarantee and not a "labor" guarantee. Now, for the same machines there are several different bases used, mine is more compact than yours with thicker steel and that did not prevent me from planning by consolidating certain places with welding! Your advice on the machine gives direction but does not prevent anyone from researching the quality, you are even less forcing a purchase. I make small or big modifications almost every week, it's sometimes a pleasure and sometimes boring but I have MY machine and not a Yanmar or Kubota at 25000€, it's My machine which looks more and more like me more ! I love it with its good and bad sides! 171 hours on the clock and a hydraulic brushcutter installed and working! Good luck my Nick!

      .....Another thing, you know that you're only a human ? Only workers make errors, the others look and give critics ! twice I had to cut what I had welded because of errors of attention! It irritates, it prevents you from sleeping but that's also the pleasure when you finally get what you want!

      It may not happen to others but if it does, I wonder how they get on.
      I like how you said yours is looking more and more like you 🤣 mine is looking like a patchwork quilt now 😆
      I'm sure I wouldnt be in this predicament if it was a branded machine as it would be under a true warranty and would be taken back immediately.

      @@everydaywithmenick Hey Nick,
      I just got a notification for your video. When I spend time modifying, when I leave fatigue, sometimes skin and in the end I'm proud to have done it, then it's as if a small part of me came from attach themselves to the machine. It's not expensive so far from perfect but it saves me a lot of fatigue, does what I can't anymore. For you it's different because it has to help you work, earn a living, so you need a reliable machine that won't waste your time! Afterwards, we are never safe from falling on the "shit" of the series which undergoes "Murphy's law"!
      I installed my hydraulic brushcutter, it works but I will have to install a flow divider because when I activate it it takes all the flow!
      Take care Nick!

      Yes it's not only our time that goes into these machines but like you said, skin, tears, sweat and a lot emotions.
      Murpheys law definitely applied on this job. Seems I've been living by that law for the last few jobs I've been on.
      How does the brushcutter perform when taking all the flow 😄
      Bet it will help you out big time though.

      @lalloy21 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@everydaywithmenick You changed on your own, it's not Mulphey's law but Murphy's!
      For the brushcutter, I bring the head to the right place, start it up and use gravity to gently lower the boom! At full speed it runs at 3000 rpm. I'm going to put an adjustable limiter that will give it enough to spin at 2000 rpm/ which will be more than enough and give me some excavator movement. Otherwise it's great, I don't have any more bruises like with the hand brushcutter.

    I don't think your welds were penetrating. I was surprised that you used a mig welder for a 10 mm plate. Usually that requires a heavy duty stick welder. The original failure was from the manufacturer around the mount. But the second failure was yours. I would have rewelded the broken part on and then added gusset plates on either side for support.

      I will though look for one, just give me time 😄

  • @Drew_peaballs_128
    @Drew_peaballs_128 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Yeah that’s unacceptable
    I bought a rhino xn12 digger (1.2T kubota 3 cyl engine) and it was the same quality the ignition was not wired correctly from factory and had bare wires in the barrel terminals which in turn would click the relay like crazy and then it got that hot it shorted the battery out twice I only found that out after the second battery and investigated it further myself, rhino rep in Australia where I bought it told me it was common for the barrels to go and sent me another and while I was changing it I realised the bare wires under the loom tape
    I had to replace the heavy gauge wire from the starter motor to the battery terminal because they one that come from factory was not crimped right and had far to many strands of copper wire missing off the crimp end for it to carry the current
    The fittings from the manifold
    Block under the dash leaked after 5 hours use and I had to re seal 6 fittings, the tracks wouldn’t stay tight and would pop off while tracking forward sometimes most of the undercarriage bolts would rattle loose after a days work, the starter motor had problems engaging, it would stall randomly sometimes while idling, it had a hard time even scraping back grass back with a mud bucket, was even under powered with the 450mm bucket on for scraping back grass and dirt back in prep for concrete cut outs, as far as lifting and digging powered it was pretty under powered
    Digging anything substantial and for long continueas trenches was a no go, crazy thing the 200mm auger and auger motor that come with the machine actually worked very well
    The auger only got pulled up when it hit a decent sized rock as most and and once it was cleared out the hole it was very good, the ripper and thumb attachment that also came with it was pretty useful aswell
    Pretty much all the grease nipples on the machine from factory where no good and had to be replaced with quality ones
    All in all I won’t ever buy a china digger again it was far more of a hassle than it was worth
    I didn’t expect a CAT, kobelco,kubota XCMG etc quality machine by any means, I did expect more that I got for my 18K though,
    I’m saving up for a kubota u25-3 which is obviously a bigger machine but a quality one
    These china diggers are ok for what they are, when they start playing up and you have to constantly fix or do things to them which you really shouldn’t have to it gets frustrating, you end up losing time and productivity and that’s a no go in business especially when your customers want every thing done now type deal
    All in all when I sold it it had 52 hours on it and it was a struggle the whole time
    I made sure the next owner knew all this and he was happy using it on his hobby farm and wasn’t too fussed

    • @everydaywithmenick
      @everydaywithmenick  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow Dan, you seem to have had the run of bad things there with your Rhino. I thought them machines were slightly better than others as they seem to be a common machine so the quality checks may have been better. Obviously not the case.
      I too would like a branded machine but damn they're a lot lot more and I know for good reason but still. Its still like twice or even 3 times more.
      I made a mistake not buying the 3 cylinder engine, that 1 cylinder Koop engine is awful on the ears after a day's or a full weeks graft.
      Thank you for sharing your experience of a Chinese mini excavator, I'm sure we aren't the only ones who have had issues. Welcome to the channel also 😁

      @everydaywithmenick  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats fair on willing to purchase one like I did. There are some better companies who are offering a good machine but for a little more money but I think it is worth it now. For instance the 3 cylinder diesel engine would be better all round, the 1 cylinder Koop engine is very annoying when running it all day.
      I too know what you mean regarding the used market, I looked at some machines and they were ridiculous amounts of money for not a good machine. That's what made me import one.

    Hi Nick, i may well be too slow with my thoughts, but looking at the start of your video the receiving ram brackets are pointing down but do appear to be shorter than the "replacement" they sent. Also accounting for the 6mm plate welded onto as apposed to into the frame may require them to be even more stout. Ps I've owned a Chinese pick up (great wall steed) and a Chinese landlegend 25hp tractor, both great in their own way but several problems due to poor build quality, so I feel your annoyance.

  • @jeremythompson2155
    @jeremythompson2155 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hi Nick, I'm sorry that your machine has broken again but I think the original design geometry for the blade and its cylinder mounts are wrong. Both failures have been with the mount pulling away from the machine, the exact opposite of what you would expect. I don't know what the last job was but I suspect that there were points when the blade was lowered into a hole so that the weight of the digger couldn't help with raising it back up and the blade end of the cylinder went past the point where it was lifting the blade and into a situation where it was at best trying to pull it into the machine mounting and at worst almost trying to pull the blade further down. I think the solution( although by the time you read this you will probably have finished welding it back together) is to raise the cylinder mounts at both ends as high as you can without them fouling on the king post at full blade lift and/or don't lower the blade where the weight of the digger can't help it back up. I hope this makes sense and possibly helps.
    Keep it up.

    • @everydaywithmenick
      @everydaywithmenick  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jeremy 👋 and thank you for your valued feedback. When I use the dozer blade to give the machine some stability, I only just have it giving pressure off the tracks so most of the tracks are still on the ground. But I agree that the geometry is wrong and needs to be addressed, I'll get on it as soon as I get chance.

    That machine seems like your bread and butter. I'd get rid asap and get a non Chinese one. Prices seem to be holding on micros minis but don't think that'll be the case much longer. Sell up, hire in if needed, buy good used machine. 8010 is a good bet.

    Just to stick my 2 cents in, is it possible that your welds gave way? In the pictures it looks like that’s where it tore off. I’m saying because my little mig welder would not do what you did there, I’d have to use the stick. Maybe?

    • @everydaywithmenick
      @everydaywithmenick  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Robert and your 2 cents are welcome here. The welds did give way but also tore more of the Chinesium metal away with them. Them welds were good fillet welds and would hold up well.
      This time I have used heavy gauge channel steel and reinforced it underneath, so fingers crossed there be no more breakages. I would have used stick as I have it combined on my welder but it was easier for me to use the mig. I've welded 12mm plate with full crank with good penetration so it can do it. Stick does get down in there though. What welder you got ?

      Copy that. I have only 120 volt mig and 220V Canox stick, and although I love the mig, I really have seen its limitations. Should have got the 220V but I bought it for doing sheet metal and light work…
      Just getting ready to pull the trigger on a Chinese excavator, but I’m going with Rippa. I think they are the best of the Chinese bunch, but we’ll see

      I've never worked with any 120v stuff, obviously 110v with site equipment but not a welder. I bet it would be really good on tin work.

    I find that when repairing thing it's best to over kill a little then to under do it. What are you welding with. I haven't heard mig welding like that.is it fluex core with gas.
    How many hours on it. I have bought a cheaper one my self. I understand that there may need repairs. But for 12,000 cheaper then a name brand. I'll do some repairs. Everyone needs to under stand that.

      Hey buddy 👋 I agree with you regarding overkill is better than nothing. I was using mig when welding and it is gas weld. The steel it was welding to on the mini excavator was a bit crap if anything, the steel is very porous and pops quite a lot.
      The mini ex has 137 hours on it now. I agree too, I will continue doing repairs as long as I don't spend close to 15k on a used one that isn't great. Thanks for understanding 😄

      Hi Nick sorry this happened again. I truly feel your frustration. In true Nick fashion you persevere and overcome! Curious is this happening when pushing dirt or digging with the bucket? Again thanks for sharing your experiences good and bad!

      @@alan0166 hi Alan 👋 I'm not entirely sure as to why it failed again but I think it's just through standard operation. I haven't been doing any or much of any back blading so can't blame that.
