- I have been waiting for the supercharger for quite some time, but it’s here now and today we’re putting it on the Rudicon!

My thoughts exactly, but then i remember how his dad has a 4.6 stroker in the banana and he’s happy with it, then went back to get one for Robby’s, so why wouldn’t he just order another for the rudicon
You can make unbelievable horsepower and torque out of a 4.0l sky's the limit
Nah, you're more likely to blow up a fresh motor than a tired one when adding boost (which is why the turbo LS guys like 300,000 mile 6.0 Express vans), and those Eaton M90s are pretty safe unless you start stuffing tiny pulleys on them to spin them to the moon.
@@mikeanderson9922 It's a reliable motor but he's gonna blow it quickly. Would like to see a rebuild with upgrades.

A dyno tune is a must. Stock map on a stock 4.0 is a ticking time bomb. Do something about the hot air intake! In any case heat will get the best of it in the summer.
100% have it tuned, will make more power and do it reliabily.
I agrée. He needs a tune and also he has enough space to run the i take over the back side of the side and to the passenger side. Where he can either do a cowl intake or leave it under the hood and it will pull air from the shock tower and cooler air from the fender
Yes a hoodscoop to get proper air for the poor air filter
It's never a bad idea to supercharge anything!

i think the XJ is one of the vehicles where less is more. they already have cooling issues and frame rigidity issues out of the box lol. light weight is better than big stuff and more power
Prob a good idea to get a tune on it asap. I'd wager it'd run a lot better with a/f and ignition adjustments.
If it's too much, u will know soon enough.😅

One of the best ways to cap off a caulking tube is with a wire nut,
(Scotch lok). Either a yellow or red.
Screw it down snug, works great for a long while. Great to see another video from you, Rudy!!

I did some wheel wells on 2010 Chevy Silverado. They was getting rusted out so my friend ordered some replacement ones and i cut them out and welded them in. After that i grinded the welds down and used bondo on it not much thow. And it still looks good and he even dented it and no chipping or cracks. It was the first and only time i did it and i loved it.
I supercharged my 4.0 with an Eaton m90 and it's a ripper!

Rudy and Matt have very similar finesse levels..his dad would have used a claw hammer to bludgeon his supercharger through.

First off watch all the videos love the channel miss you on Matt's off-road recovery but I know you built the exhaust for the bananas so I'm hoping you're going to do the same thing for the Rubicon want to hear that same sound you did an amazing job keep up the good work

Also, did the supercharger come with an ECU? She'll be running rather lean otherwise.

@@pnoLS swaps are just overdone in general. The Jeep 4.0L is an awesome engine, it just takes more work to get power out of it than an LS.

Maybe an auxiliary radiator and cooler for the Supercharger mounted on the rear roof? And tune it asap to not run it leaned out!
Liked to watch when you were on your dads channel and like to watch you on your own. I really want to see the footage from the sand rail you worked on at your dads shop. Wheelies in second = awesome footage. 😂

had that problem when re gasketing a stock setup at work. remove both the intake and exhaust and then go to re assemble and the intake hits the heat warped exhaust.
If cooling ends up being a problem then I think logically the next step in the Rudicon's evolution is a radiator sticking 8 inches out of the hood.

I had to grind my intake manifold in the same spots when I put a header on. I hate the same side design of the intake and exhaust!

Its really cool that you've found one of these Boosted Technologies superchargers. Itll be interesting if youve ever have issues, those guys are not the friendliest for support...

Rudy, your jeep is a beast, its truly inspiration for other builders to see, spend money in the right parts and you can have a blast without breaking the bank if you have confidence in your fabrication work. it would be cool to see Rudicon, verse banana, Broncstar, Ownes blazer, dejablue (when finished), scorpion, and the onx winner S-10 and few comparable builds at sandhallow.

A little more power to get over obstacles= broken axles and other components...... I prefer to go the lower gearing and weight reduction route. If I can't crawl it, don't need to go up it, but that's just how I roll cause Im tires of upgrading and fixing stuff. But very cool, Super chargers are pretty rad and cool build.

I turbo'd my 4.0 and while it's not LS power, it's a close second. I'd probably compare it to late 90's Vortec 350 power and that's plenty, plus it sounds wicked cool on hill climbs and generally surprises most onlookers so there's nothing wrong with some good ol forced induction.
Do you plan on upgrading the fuel pump on Rudicon? It would seem that the more air you introduce to an engine, the more fuel you will need. Food for thought.

A possible good idea put a heat shield between the supercharger and the exhaust manifold.
That is the nicest boxing for a part I have ever seen, not being a computer. It sounds like you pinched your exhaust at the 24 . I heard it then and it is even more so now after you put the boost to it . And yes it's way cool !

I had a 2000 TJ with a 2.5l 4 banger for 12 years. I straight up loved that thing in every regard other than the power output. I put 568 (I think that's what it ended up being) ring, pinion side and spiders gears in it, electronic lockers, 4" Tuff Country articulating suspension lift/shocks, 35x15 BFG ATs, D ring winch bumper, 16000lbs Champion winch, swing arm rear bumper with cans, Rhino lined the interior, header, exhaust, helical cut throttle body spacer, stage 3 chip and on and on trying to get that 2.5l to have any guts at all. It did far better than stock, but never had the power I wanted. I was heavily debating the small block Chevy vs super charger decision on it and had settled on the super charger. Then the wife got diagnosed with severe rheumatoid arthritis at 38yoa and started light chemo to keep her immune system in check, and couldn't handle the tent camping anymore. I bawled my eyes out and sold my TJ to get the money for a Cummins Ram, a toy hauler and ATV to keep her out camping and having fun. God I miss that Jeep and still wonder if that super charger would have finally satisfied me. Thanks for bringing back fond memories of my other most favorite vehicle! (I also had a 1974 Ramcharger with a removable top from 20 to 28yoa and LOVED that thing! Hence my digging that Radcharger project too!)

I would opt in for a paper filter an closed housing (pod filters love to let crap into the engine) an potentially a small scoop on the hood (which housing + scoop you could easily make with your skills) an you could have a flap so in winter picks up air from engine bay....Superchargers like to be cool as we know, too much heat becomes a disaster (me an lots of people will tell you why haha)

The Rudicon took a beating at the 24 Hours of Hell and Back but everyone was in your corner for that event!!!! A little boost makes everything better in moderation on a stock engine as you well know. I say boost it till it blows and be building another motor in the wings!🍻

You can make rear side windows out of tinted plexiglass. I haven't broken a window since. The fun of modifying modification so your new mod will work.
I believe it will fit always fits sometimes u have to just make some backyard hacks and chops and the hood clearance. Double gasket special
Rudy, you probably already know that Ford mustang injectors are normally cheaper than Jeeps injectors and more fuel with them. It was cheaper for a set of 8 than 6 for a Jeep. I don't remember the flow rates and what specific part numbers but there's a few data sources which do. Years ago I was planning on building a 4.6 stroker a buddy who built his gave me the information.

dont cut the dent out in the right rear panel use the correct tool and pull it out.

That cut off piece would make a nice new shop wall hanger.
Get a Holley ECU and then get it tuned on a dyno. Will last forever with a little boost. Put forged rods and pistons and then go for all the boost.
