Im 16, and i have been watching you since i was 13. I worked since i was 14, bought a project car, finished up the car, and now i just got my license, and me and my project are on the road! You taught me alot about working on cars and it helped me in the long run. Thank you for everything you do Derek and dont ever feel like you need to justify yourself. Us real VGG viewers know that you are a hard working father and husband!
@@toddhill2362the 01 lesabre needed the most work, all metal brake lines, a brake hose, trans cooler lines, both front tie rods, both rear trailing arms, pads and rotors on all 4 corners. And many other small things like sensors and stuff. The century needed both front lower control arms, front pads and rotors, and a new computer.
@@DJsBackup My older brother in HS back in 1987. Had a 76 slant nose Laguna S3...I was a Freshman & got to drive it a few times before I had a license... He passed in 2004 at age 34. I wouldn't mind doing a restomod Laguna S3 if I had money & could find one.
I've heard stories about the maple syrup. Is it the stuff that comes in a can? You need an old school oil can spout so you can pour it straight down your throat. I think that is how they drink it or so I've been told.
Derek, you never have to justify anything you do. Anyone here who knows you, know how much you sacrifice, work, and give back. You deserve everything you've worked so hard for. So very happy for you.
I wish people like Derek didn't have to explain to people about him achieving a lifelong goal. There's no better feeling than setting a life goal and actually achieving it. One of the best feelings in the world. My late father taught me that. Congratulations Derek, well done sir.
Derek, when you mentioned turbos I actually got a little twinkle, you know what I mean? That'll wake up that Cleveland and no time. God bless you brother on achieving one of your goals you deserve it❤
My dad and I bonded over your show. Haven't talked for 30 years then he got COPD, contacted me saying he had very little time left in June, had in home hospice care. Every week since I've called him on the weekends and we'd talk about the latest VGG episode - we're both into hotrods. He passed right after labor day, had a military funeral at Fort Snelling National Cemetery 9/19. I want to thank you Derek for creating a channel that in the end gave me time with my dad and some closure. This channel will always be special to me for these reasons.
Ahh man I'm so glad you had time with him in the end. I also have COPD. Definitely terminal as it always is. I just found out about 1.5 years ago and have a few years left until it starts to get real bad but in the mean time I'm trying to talk with my son as much as possible. I'm 53 and he's 16. Much love to you. 💯👍🇨🇦♥️
Derek my man, NEVER apologize for following your dreams. The sacrifices you make for this channel, your family, and the car community in general cannot be measured. Enjoy the Eye Talian veeehicle!
it's your money and something you wanted. I bought an older Italiano sports car as well. I want to teach kiddo to wrench some. but I've also worked hard for 25 years and I wanted it. yeah it may piss the wife off but nothing like buying something you really like that you worked hard for.
This is definitely a bucket list car for me. The only problem is my bucket has a hole in it. Don't let the negative Nellie's dis- wade you. 351C is one of if not the best small block ever made! Getter done. Love your channel!
Dang, It is crystal clear just how much this one means to Derek. Seeing the real emotion coming through (as much as a fella's gonna show) really is kinda special. You're a good guy, you've worked your ass off, and you deserve what you've earned.
For sure, a pinnacle in your life. I enjoyed that great moment with you. You need not explain yourself. It's yours, and you have worked for it. I am jealous, though!
its not like he is out buying Roles Royce convertibles every day, as you say a fella worked his ass off to buy this. Im sure he is going to love it and enjoy going for a spin with Jessica to the local car show. 👍
There was a guy in my hometown that owned one of these. He was driving one day and lost the clutch and that's when I happened upon him. I gave him a ride back into town and to thank me he said "once it's fixed I'll give you a ride in it". Well fast forward about a month later and I see him at the gas station and he said "are you ready for a ride of your life?" Boy it was so fun and we didn't follow the suggested speed limit. I'll never forget that. This video brought me right back to that point 30 years ago. Thanks for that!
My dad had one when I was kid. He sold it when my brother was 17 and had a license because of the insurance. But I specifically remember setting off car alarms with my dad and our dentists countache in tow. I was in there, mid 90s, in a Fisher Price plastic booster seat doing 160 down what is now Ray Gibbon Drive in st. Albert, Canada.
Michael Drew is the Pantera expert to help you with all your questions and point you in the right direction for parts and anything else you might need. Good luck. Love your new car.
Congratulations Derek, I’m 70 and follow VGG. In 1973 I purchased a Grand Torino sport roof, 351 Cobra Jet Q code . My friend bought the last 1974 Silver De Tomaso Panthera on the West Coast in Santa Barbara, California. Love the Pantera. Same engine as my 351 Cleveland. That Pantera could do 150 mph back then. Still my favorite car. A feller should keep that one. You deserve it.
Thanks to DeBoss Garage for letting you use their space to get this classic back on the road. I really appreciate TH-cam channels working together to help keep a project on track.
DeBoss also has a great channel and I learned a helpful tip in troubleshooting my 03 Dodge Ram Cummins a few years ago. Had a stuck open injector and his tip on capping each injector on the fuel rail was the key in finding the issue. Love his work with Edison Motors as well, on Rich's Gen II conversion.
Hey Derek, I was a car salesmen in 1994 and sold my first Chrysler LHS to an Italian gentlemen out of Woodbridge, ON just west of where you picked it up. The customer and his wife told me all about his Panterra. I'm thinking this could be his car. I think his name was Tony and his wife was Rose or Rosa. If I got the names wrong, he was the owner of a very well established huge machine shop. There's a good story behind how we met and what a great couple. It's fabulous to see it end up in your hands if it's the one. I remember her saying how loud it was and because of that they never drove it far. God Bless You Man.
That's pretty neat, man. Given the somewhat rarity of the Panteras, I'd say it's quite possibly the same one... especially being even more rare living in Canadia and all. 👌 Small world indeed!
Congratulations on your dream car... I mean that sincerely. I noticed something about you. You're able to deal with discouragement or sudden frustration amazingly well
Tavarish we need more cheap car challenges, bring out the top gear style challenges. “Will a $1500 car drive from Seattle to Florida” type stuff would love to see something like that if yall can budget/time etc
Hi Freddy... does anybody got money on if he fits in there without his head at an angle? 😅 Monster Lambo-Engne pull btw. got really lucky on that frame in GB. Happy for ya
As a 53 year old Belgian, who doesn't even own a car, I have probably much reason to know nothing about a detomaso pantera, but I remember it strongly as being my very first die-cast Matchbox sports car! My aunt bought it for me on a local flea market. Look forward to seeing you work on this one and driving it home :)
I was going to leave a comment like this - I would doubt most people have even heard of this car, but because I had a Matchbox DeTomaso Pantera, I knew exactly what this was and why Derek was excited, though I think I have only seen one ever in my life at a car show years ago.
I’m 49 from Australia and it was my favourite Matchbox car 🙂 it sounded so exotic aside from being gorgeous. My jaw dropped when I first saw one in person as an adult.
I also had a purple matchbox Pantera as a kid. It was my favourite car, but it took a beating, and is missing its doors etc. But a couple of years back, I found a near mint vintage Pantera in the original box at a junk store.
Anyone giving you grief for this hasn't been around long likely, I've been watching you since 2018 from my farm here in good old Saskatchewan Canada and have seen how hard you've worked to get where you are, love your content, my boys love your channel, congratulations!
I can't understand why you had to trade so much for just a Pantera. In 1989 I bought one for $2,500 wich to me that was a freaking fortune at the time. But it was in absolutely perfect condition. And I had just sold my Mustang . Kept it for about 6 months and sold it for $4,000 bucks. I thought alright if the guy wants it that bad then I'll take his money..And I was more than $1,000 bucks ahead whoo hoo. Yea yea I know now. And I kick myself every day. Don't rub it in.
@@davidkohler7454 Because it's not 1989 anymore. There were not the many sold brand new. In 2024 there's even fewer around, and they are very sought after. As a result the price, even for one in bad condition is very high.
A guy is so proud of this home state boy. To see a feller give so much of a back story on this car shows how much it means to him! Im so proud of you Derek! DONT EVER justify your actions and your business! Love theis family! Thanks for EVERYTHING Derek!
Anyone who has entertained us for so many years and worked so hard deserves the car of their dreams . Congrats Derek, I know some boys who will also be excited !!!
My buddy's got 150 ish cars from the 20s to the 50s and thousands of parts in original boxes from the 20s to the 80s. Too bad when Derek was in dunnvile he was about 5 mins from me and 15 from my buddy farm
@@TheNightrunner666 ya. We are north of you guys up by Georgian bay and tons of barn finds around. Wish he gave us more notice for the meet and greet in Dunville. Would love if he came back to GTA somewhere central for a meet
@Barton_Motors_Ltd he was in Scarborough for a revival. I seen a post of his that said he was in Canada but I assumed he was in like Alberta not southern ontario. Oh well.
My absolute favorite car from that era. I was eight years old in 72. I lusted after Panteras. Detomaso Pantera is and always will be my holy grail car. Good for you sir. Good for you
I was 16 in 72. I too loved Panteras. Till I owned one. Then I lost lots of my desire. Very expensive for parts. ZF tranny (mine needed work) should be sent to a specialty shop.
i cannot express in words how much this channel has meant to me. i started watching years ago when i got my first car. your videos helped my build up the courage to replace my own spark plugs. after that you took my interest in cars and turned it into a hobby. i bought a 2008 dodge caliber srt4 as a project, fixed it, raced it, totaled it on a deer, rebuilt it and raced it some more. watching your videos gave me the guts to dive head first into an electrical nightmare like that. thanks to you, i was able to cross a massive item off my bucket list. i went to my buddys place and got his 1965 mustang with the 289 HO moving for the first time in 11 years. the look on his face when he drove it under its own power to the gas station was priceless. now, im taking these skills and making an impactful career out of it, and i hope i can do it like you do, using cars to bring joy to everyone around. it would mean the world to me if somehow, someway you can get this ol girl up to the woodward dream cruise next year. i would love the opportunity to thank you in person. god bless brother
Im 69, The most exciting ride I've ever had was in a Pantera. I had an older cousin, long past, that built race cars and I hung out with him when I was 16 and 17 years old. He took me for a ride in this Pantera that he had been working on and it cornered better than any car I'd been in or since. I don't remember exactly how fast we took a 15mph curve but is was quite a thrill for young me. Wow' what a nostalgic moment for me seeing you working on this car. Please keep at it. I enjoy your videos very much and wish you the best. Thanks
I'm truly amazed. The evolution of Vice Grip Garage over the last few years has been astounding. I do enjoy old episodes and I hope the format doesn't change too much. The thing I look forward too most is the feeling of being there with ya. Two fellas in the garage/barn/field/abandoned building etc. and then the absolute hail mary attempt at driving a gazillion miles with something that quite frankly shouldn't be on the road. Absolutely amazing. Thank you Derek for your time, effort and dedication. You deserve all your success. Greetings from Northern Sweden 🇸🇪
@@JustinSchooler-f2jHow old are you? You're acting like a 12 year old and obviously you don't support VGG because all your doing is fueling my fire. I would be very careful about what comes out of your mouth next or you won't be using it OK BUD
Hey Derek! As a Hamiltonian in Hamilton Ontario, the ONLY appropriate thing to do here is when you get her altogether, bring the Pantera back up here to Toronto Motor Sports Park, which is right near Hamilton and Dunnville, and take her down the drag strip and on the road coarse to celebrate her Canadian roots. It would make for an "MOSES SANDLES!" show buddy! It would be excellent content to get some of the locals out, and get lots of great footage of our best Race Park too!
Brother, I just found your channel and watched all of the CRX vlog and am currently watching this Lovely Pantera vid and Man I love your deadpan approach. I love cars but I don't know how to work on them and I probably have a few years on you but I love your channel and will continue to watch. Love the way you think of the DE Tommaso! I've always loved those cars and get a little tingly when they come up at an auction and wish I had your type of understanding. Love the way you supported Convoy of hope which has its home base where I live. He'll, I don't even own a car but love the way you go through these beautiful cars and get them home to your base of operations
I gotta say, I found your channel when I was in my deepest of pits regarding depression. Times were bad, I found your content was the only thing at the time that I would get up for. I loved that you never have a plan other than get the car running and drive it home. A concept simple, but it works. I am now getting better, and I thank you for helping me (even though you didn't know that you was), keep up the good work and I can't wait for what's next!
In 1973, the year I graduated high school , a bright green brand new Pantera moved in next door to my grandmother's house. I spent several visits drooling over the beautiful machine.
No negative comments Brother. Congratulations. Shedding a tear of happiness for you. Yep, In 72 when I was 16 I drove a yeller Pantera from the end of the car wash to the customer. It was one of the highlights of my life.
tuberNunya In 1975, I was 16 and worked at the Ford dealership in my town . The owners Son had a lime green 73 Pantera and was graduating and had me detail the car washed it from front to back top to bottom including engine bay , after that, waxed and buffed paint !!! We always drove every vehicle after washin the motor(carberated) !!! I took the bosses son's out about 2 miles on a nice straight highway & opened it up WOW that thing was fast !!! I was shaking, not scared just adrenaline rush !!!😅😅
I have literally watched every single episode of vgg and this you can tell is by far the most excited Derek has been to do a revive. Derek don’t know you personally but I’m so happy and proud of what you have accomplished!
I remember when the Pantera came out in ‘71, I was 12 years old. I have loved these cars ever since. I remember trying to sketch these in math class. I was never able to acquire one, but I can live vicariously through you. Thanks for bringing back my childhood memories , Derek. Hopefully you’ll show us a lot of the restoration.
I might be late, finally have some time to catch up on your videos and I whole heartedly applaud you and what you do. I'm very glad you found a car that is something incredible to you. Doesn't matter what brand, type, etc. You helped my dad and I bond again after my mom's passing a few years ago and bringing him to meet you last year at Iola was his bucket list item. You inspire and help out so many, it is truly admirable today. Thank you Derek and family for continuing to press on and offer what you do. Thank you, from a grateful heart

Part 1 of De Tomaso Pantera was the best every! Finding the car you have longed for is a great feeling. Showing the challenges and inventive solutions instead of making a video where everything is easy is just what a lot of your viewers like to see. CAN'T WAIT FOR PART 2!!!
First I want to say.. if even one person watching your channel EVER says that you don't deserve this build you would have everyone else's permission to tell them to take a hike. ( Even with an explenative). This is awesome. I hope you completely restore this beautiful car.
thanks eric! very well and nicely spoken. also, @visegripgarage, just as eric said, ‘tell them to take a hike!’ tell’m ‘take a hike til yer hat floats.’ seriously derek, i realise that it’s so, becuz of th way that it is. and becuz im watching as it’s coming out yer face there big fella. thing of it is tho, there’s just sso much love, support, admiration and high regard for you, on this side of th screen. that we, for th most part, cannot quite imagine someone even thinking like that. thank sir! for yet another video that dozen exactly suck
Derek, im super happy for you that you have been able to check this beautiful pantera off of your bucket list. No one deserves it more than you. The “never give up, will to do whatever it takes to achieve greatness in the messed up world”. You sir have done it, and its truly miraculous to be apart of this journey with you and all the other fellers and fellettes. Cant wait to see more content and how the pantera will turn out. God bless you and all the good you keep doing in this world. It hasnt gone unnoticed.
Hey Derek! I’ve been watching for years and you have helped me immeasurably with my projects. I’ve been wrenching my whole life but not at your level. But with tutelage and encouragement from you, my ‘72 Chevy C/20 long bed 402 4 speed has been converted to HEI, and has a rebuilt quadrabog! I’m gonna do the clutch next. Even better, I pushed through my apprehension and built a late 70s HD Shovelhead chopper from the crank up out of a basket case. I even taught myself to weld! Largely thanks to “A Guy!” You and your family are truly an inspiration and proof that the American Dream is alive and well.
Derek, while it's nice to hear you thank us for the support, we can return so many thanks back your way, my friend. The laughs you've provided while still showing us sooo many tips, tricks and vast general knowledge regarding these old cars is worth way more than just thanks in return. Your genuine passion and character beyond reproach is inspirational. Thank YOU!
Reaching a goal and being able to buy your dream car is something! I been through it as well, for 10 years I wanted a 59 Chevrolet Impala Concertible and it seemed unreachable but I never gave up and kept going and was able to buy it 2 years ago after buying, fixing up and selling 15+ classic cars. To this day every time I take it out, I can't even describe the feeling! Enjoy this dream car Derek because you deserved it and do realize the whole journey was so worth it!!!
I can’t ever imagine someone having anything derogatory to say towards you Derek. I love what you do and you inspired me to start doing it again. I set out to do exactly what you do back in 2011 but affordability got me as it always gets most of us! I recently decided to give up again, just figured what is the point, it won’t work and people will think I am just being a copy cat, instead of seeing that like you I am just doing what I love. I almost died early Tuesday morning as I fell into a 4 foot trench after tripping over a tree root while on the job. I could have broke my neck, could have drowned. I am so grateful I had good enough luck that I was able to sit in front of my tv today and watch another one of your videos. I think if I was ever going to get an import I would definitely say the Pantera would be the way to go. I will never let what others think stop me and I never plan to give up or even think about giving up ever again! Thanks for another awesome video and for continuing to inspire us!
I was 11 years old when I started hearing about the Pantera. It was always like a unicorn to me so I’m going to really going to enjoy this episode. I’m very happy for you brother, I know you will bring it back to life!🤗
I saw one of your videos and told my wife you look like my friend who I worked with for 30+ years. Sadly he took his life and I retired from wrenching after that. Watching you is almost like working and hanging out with him again. Also I feel your pain , I worked on a couple of those Pantera's back in the day.
The fact that you've always stayed humble and put in the work to get where you're at means you deserve everything you have. I've been watching you for years and you've always been kind and thankful for what you have. I wish you all the best in the future. I love the car. Keep up the good work brother you are definitely appreciated 😊
It warms my heart that you sincerely mean what you say when you thank your subscribers. I am happy that you are able to find and acquire the car of your dreams! Enjoy my friend. You deserve this! ❤️👍🏻🇺🇸
My boss where I worked many years ago purchased a couple of Panteras. One had a leaking fuel tank. To remove the tank, according to the shop manual, step one was "disconnect the battery". Step two was "remove the engine." Yikes! What a wild ride you have in store for you! Love it!
Congratulations!!! I'm 54 and I've always wanted a white Pantera. Can't wait to watch you bring this back to life. They definitely have some weird build issues but I believe the Pantera forums have all the fixes folks have done. Good luck.
Derek, anyone thats been watching your content for a while knows your the furthest thing from a sell out on TH-cam. I think the vast majority of us are proud of everything you've accomplished. No need to justify yourself over here your surrounded by friends. Congratulations
I been watching you for a long time. You taught me so much. You don’t need to justify anything. You earned all you have. You and your family are awesome. And don’t stop what you do. Please.
I was a little kid when my dad brought home a brochure from the dealership with a yellow Pantera on it back in 1971. It’s always been my favorite! Glad you found an early model before the rubber bumpers. Congratulations to you for getting your dream car!!!
Watching this show has inspired me for a few years now every time I take time to watch. And it really makes me appreciate my old school small block nova I been working on. And watching vice grip motivated me to get it back on the road and driving again!
Derek, what an episode! I'm 64, and in 1971, I was 11 years old. I had this wall chart, and you bought stickers to scratch on of all sorts of exotic cars. The De Tomaso Pantera was the most exotic sounding of all and my favourite. To see that you have one fills me with joy. I'm in the UK and so some of the things like the bearings and bits you have to take out to get to something are very familiar to a young gofor. Me and my friend Steven hung around a garage in the 60s and 70s. Our small hands were put to good use in tight spots. He went on to have his own garage. Man, your hands are mangled! You have my fantasy car. I'm astonished that it is yours too. Couldn't happen to a better person. Do you fit in it?! Special car for Jessica. 😊. Regards, Stephen.
Derek, I want to personally thank you for bringing clean and fun entertaining into our lives. I can watch your show with my family and not worry about F-bombs or sexual references being stuck in for no reason. You are proof that a truly funny personality doesn't need to be anything other than PG (maybe G in your case) rated. Thank you and your family for putting yourself through so much stress and hard work for our weekly entertainment. You (and the Roadkill guys) have changed the old car culture into something obtainable and fun for everyone. Watching your show is the most entertaining videos I watch by far. Keep up the great work!
All I could think about watching this was how I could have been a real help to you because I am 5-1 and have very small hands..I have helped guys out when they just could not get into areas at all. I love working on cars. Thank God you drained that fuel tank. She's a beautiful car! I wish you many hours of fun in your dream car.
Derek, I can not begin to thank you enough for all the joy and excitement you have brought to my daughters and I. You and your videos are an inspiration to my daughters and I to get out there and save classic cars. This video holds a special place for me, because I used to work in restoration and I worked on a Pantera that crossed the Mecum Auction block so I wanted to pass along the company we used for Pantera parts. Pantera Performance Center Inc in Castle Rock, CO. They may be a useful resource for you. Good luck with this beautiful car.
All of the suspension is doubled when a car costs 5x as much as what you're used to, but the thing i like most about VGG is how you keep your sense of humor. We should try all be more like Derek. Now where's my Pantera?
Derek definitely deserves this and anything else good that comes his way. He's out here teaching us things we can use for the rest of our lives. Congrats on getting your grail!
That is a good-looking car. Italian design, American horsepower, no problem with that. It's Italian-American. I would love to watch a full restore. Live your best life, Derek!
Did anyone here see the Barnfind / Hagerty vid on the Pantera? Maybe a little nicer car but they put a fortune into the engine. I'll go with Derek on this project!
No way it's only 14K with that much wear on the wheel bearings. You wouldn't have that much chassis corrosion either, especially when it's been garaged for over 30 years. Regardless it's all fixable and one hell of a find.
I been watching you for many many years. We all have our bucket list cars. I just really enjoy your banter and getting these cars to run and drive! The mirrors on the pantera? I installed the same ones on of my firebirds! Enjoy!
I quit watching cable TV when I discovered channels like yours. You are one of my favorite TH-camrs because you're content doesn't have an agenda like most network TV channels these days. Love your wit, knowledge, and love of anything mechanical. Also love your collabs with your family. Good stuff bud!
I do love Derek but there not enough of him and the type shows I like. I watch more than a few hours a week which is all I can get from Derek so I'm still paying for satellite.
Who could ever talk shit about Derick and act like he is handed anything. dude works his tail off to bring us amazing content, thanks for always being you buddy.
This is crazy, VGG is in my backyard. Welcome to Canada bother. We love you up here. And a Pantera, incredible. All the best from Michael in Milton, just west of Toronto.
I'm 116, well allmost, I just feel like it. I bought my first car at 14. A modle "A", did the usual things to get it running , had big plan's. Never finised it, ended up selling it 50 years latter. I never wanted to admit that. I wish had an Derek to inspire me back then. Your the best at teaching backyard mechanics. Love your humor. It's obvieus, You really love this car , I've never seen you so hesitant, and negative, on one of these projects! Your allmost stumbling over yourself ! All will be fine in the end. Bearings are bearings, seal's are seal's, get them at any bearing supply. There are not many Companies can afford a specific unusal size's.
Love the Pantera. Growing up it was one of my top five cars. Countach, 356 Porsches and 911,with the 512BB Ferrari and the Dethomaso! Beautiful cars. Great seeing an original. I hope you love it man. 🤤👌🐶
I'd never heard of one of these cars before... I honestly can't believe it's a product of the early 70's. The beefy body, the aerodynamics, the sound of the engine, the body lines... it honestly looks like it came out of the 90's. Just a beautiful car! I'm ashamed that I'd never heard of the car before, but I'm happy as can be that Derek introduced me to such a badass ride. I can't wait to see it restored to its full glory. Holy Grail car as far as I'm concerned.
Those of us who have watched you since the days of taping a phone to a garage door, then you using the shop that was miles from your home, and to where you are now are thrilled for you! Seriously! You have brought us hours of entertainment and for some of us, have taught us how to revive our own vehicles! Keep living the dream!
Love the show. My hubby is a safety man so he worries about when you grind and dont wear safety glasses or weld without gloves. Please be careful. We sure enjoy watching your show. Just got him the new flannel shirt for his birthday got one for my dad for Christmas
In 1977 I was a Sophomore in high school in a town called Dublin in California. My dentist had a pearl white Pantera. I have been in love with that car ever since. I completely understand how your feeling in this video. Congratulations. You deserve it.
Enjoy your pantera Derek. You deserve it for all your hard work which has kept us all entertained with every video you put out. Nice to see a good man and his family enjoy success. You really deserve it.Many thanks from a long term UK subscriber. All the best to you and your family.I,ll be dipped!
Happy to see you finally got your bucket list dream car. You've worked hard we've all seen it. If you can afford it you deserve it, anybody who doesn't think so wasn't watching the videos right!
You DESERVE that car. YOU WORKED your ASS OFF!!!! When does it make your 25years of starting VICE GRIP GARAGE??????? I’ve been watching for SEVERAL YEARS!! Good for you my friend!!👏👏✌️✌️✌️
A little tip for pulling inner bearing without hurting the seal. Pull the outer bearing, put the axle nut back on and yank the rotor straight out. The nut will catch the inner bearing and pop it out with the seal
Derek you are such a wholesome guy. You have helped us all in ways that you don’t even know. I used to work on one of these (GTS version, even rarer) as an 19 year old apprentice in New Zealand. My boss came to me one day and said "This thing is not running right, it struggles to get over 100 mph". It was running on 7. Long story short, after the usual checks, I pulled the valve covers and found a push rod had gone up through a rocker. Got a set of pushrods and rockers and put it back together. I had to test drive it off course, the only car I have ever had at 160 mph and it scared the cr@p outa me. Hell of a thrill too though for a 19 year old. Boss told me after it was the best it had ever run.
Please, please, please, PLEASE, do this car right and fix the rust. If any car deserves that kind of love from you it this one. I'm certain that I'm not the only one who would love to watch you restore this one to its former glory. Keep being the real one that you are dude. Been watching for 4 years now.

Hey congrats on 2mil! Always a pleasure Derek, welcome back anytime. You forgot your maple syrup so it’s in the mail.
Mmmmmm Canuckistani maple syruple
Appreciate ya!!
Thanks for letting Derek use your shop! Friends are what makes life great!
The meet-up in Dunnville was awesome! I can only hope a repeat will happen one day! Tons of respect for both channels.
Thanks so much Bradley. That's welcoming to hear.

Derek you are the man. Don't ever listen to the asshats try to put you down.
My boss used to call me "Tomaso" i didn't take it as a compliment......
The Pepsi Cola can is from 1978. Very good find. Love this video. Keep up the good work, Derek
I wish people like Derek didn't have to explain to people about him achieving a lifelong goal. There's no better feeling than setting a life goal and actually achieving it. One of the best feelings in the world. My late father taught me that. Congratulations Derek, well done sir.
It’s sad that he has to even think about justifying any of it. It’s his money and he can do whatever he wants with it. That’s how income works.
Derek, when you mentioned turbos I actually got a little twinkle, you know what I mean? That'll wake up that Cleveland and no time. God bless you brother on achieving one of your goals you deserve it❤
I agree a smart feller understands hard work and dedication pays off. And those who talk negativity about success isn't worth listening to.
It’s obvious the guy works his ask off. Just look at how tired he’s been for like almost a year now. Respect the grind.
You know how it is haters are going to hate if you don't have them you're doing something wrong
Man that is heavy. Glad you got what time you did...been 35 yrs here wont get the opp you did
My old man was the same, its funny how death suddenly gives you clarity.
My condolences
Wow. And actually an awesome story. Thank you for sharing it.
You're the best!
You can tell the level of care he's taking he REALLY wanted this car for a long time. I'm so happy for him.
Car looks amazing and am glad u got what u wanted for your car gratz god bless u and the family
Finally! Lol! Is a fella gonna have to take his boots off to fit in that thing?
it's your money and something you wanted.
YOU CAN TELL HOW MUCH HE LOVES IT BY HOW GENTLY HE PUT THE BATTERY IN IT
A guy almost teared up watching this
Hopefully, this one has enough head room for our favorite 'Sasquatch.'
@fornhunkle now that's a cool story lol fisher price car seat at 160 for the win lol
Watching Derrick get things he’s always wanted feels like watching a a good friend succeed. It’s really awesome.

Congratulations Derek,
I’m 70 and follow VGG.
A 71 Falcon GTHO was faster than that down Conrod straight. Even won the 500 mile race but many failed.

@@gotthumbs2235 I've been watching DeBoss since they built the Shermanator. Good fun. 😄

Haha, another 53y old Belgian here 😉
I was going to leave a comment like this - I would doubt most people have even heard of this car, but because I had a Matchbox DeTomaso Pantera, I knew exactly what this was and why Derek was excited, though I think I have only seen one ever in my life at a car show years ago.
Thanks Bruce, glad you "get it". Stay warm up there this winter eh!
@@matth7744why is he getting sued?????????
@@davidkohler7454 Because it's not 1989 anymore. There were not the many sold brand new. In 2024 there's even fewer around, and they are very sought after. As a result the price, even for one in bad condition is very high.
A guy is so proud of this home state boy. To see a feller give so much of a back story on this car shows how much it means to him! Im so proud of you Derek! DONT EVER justify your actions and your business! Love theis family! Thanks for EVERYTHING Derek!

same here- and soon after the bricklin!

Congrats on the Pantera, Derek. That car can’t be a 14,000 mile car, can it? That’s a rough 14,000 if so. Moses’ sandals!
@@johnpoteat9774salt will do a LOT in less time
Came here to say the same. Probably 114k with the 5 digit odo rolling over at 99,999

Does a guy even fit in a Pantera or does he have to …. Walk?
Perfect
😂😂😂 ohhh I get it haha 😂💯🤘🤘🤘🤘
What did you say?
Excellent 🤘
Highly underrated comment 😂😂 love it
I been watching you for many many years.
I love his sense of humour and the hand gestures like comedy sign language :) Shout out from Cananada!
BEAUTIFUL car Derek. Dont ever justify what you do we all back you 100% and no one deserves it more than you
Love the show.
I’m a few years ahead of you… Shout out from Sunnyvale, Ca.!
A feller sounds excited!!! I can hear it in his voice. I love it!
I know it’s at 24years but it’s a HUGE DEAL when you hit that 25year DATE!!!✌️😃
A little tip for pulling inner bearing without hurting the seal. Pull the outer bearing, put the axle nut back on and yank the rotor straight out. The nut will catch the inner bearing and pop it out with the seal
It's so nice of Deboss Garage to help out these smaller startup channels like this!
I would hardly call Derek a start up channel
Vice Grip Garage has over 2M subscribers
Double wooosh in the replies
People have no sense of humor !
What an amazing car! My most sincere congratulations Derek, and thanks for taking us along for the ride.
Love that you was able to get your hands on your dream ride!!!! You deserve it so much!
Derek you are such a wholesome guy. You have helped us all in ways that you don’t even know. From us on deployment, us dealing with grief, helping those of us that are battling with mental health, you bring us all smiles and laughs. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. We’re blessed to be apart of your TH-cam family. ❤ god bless you and your family big Sasquatch.
Well said
@@geoffneibert124 saw him on the highway while he was driving the Red Polara home while I was going to say my final goodbye to a family member and he gave a big wave. Made the night a lot easier.
Well said.
Hey guy- no apologies,please- we are always loving your content!… you deserve the opportunity to work thru your bucket list- I’m 72 and understand- never miss those chances!!!
Dude, always loved this car. So happy for you to find one that is in pretty decent shape for sitting for 30+ years. If anyone deserves it, its 100% you.
Let the weekend begin with more then 2 hours of entertainment and knowledge
And he's headed to the best side of Niagara Falls: Canada!
Hey Derek, long time subscriber and fan. Its great to see a guy in Cananada finally, and 25 miles from a fellers' backyard no less! Just wanted to say I appreciate everything you do, and have done. The world needs more people like you and we're all better because of ya! Love from Cananada's motor city, Oshawa Ontario
I'm so happy for you, Derek! You deserve this car, man.
I've been watching the last couple years and I am happy for you. You deserve it Derek 🎉. If your ever in California let a guy know I'll be there!
From the U.K. Well done on getting your dream car. Hope it all works out for you. Top man !!!
PS 1971 WAS A GREAT YEAR.......MY BIRTH AND THE CREATION OF THE De Tomaso Pantera ROCK ON DUDE!!!
Please, please, please, PLEASE, do this car right and fix the rust. If any car deserves that kind of love from you it this one. I'm certain that I'm not the only one who would love to watch you restore this one to its former glory. Keep being the real one that you are dude. Been watching for 4 years now.
