    This is a great upload. I'm inspired by your step 2 in the skillet starting with the palm oil at 6:10 through 8:10. Even without the puree you made in step 1, this alone will make for such a flavorful base for black eyed peas and so many other dishes!
    Tonight I'm making black eyed peas stewed with tomatoes and greens. I'm going to start with what you did in step 2, then add vegetable broth and cook my black eyed peas in that base, then add the greens. Not quite the recipe you shared here, but thank you for the inspiration! It's just what I was looking for.

    Hi Jane! You are a real Ninja for handling those habanero slices with your bare fingers. I love black eyed peas.
    Not sure if you aware of how Red palm oil is environmentally unsustainable. FYI- Oil palm trees grow only in tropical regions, in the same place where rainforests exist. Rainforests are considered the "lung of the planet", sequester immense carbon stocks and host widespread biodiversity. It is that diversity, along with their capacity to store that carbon, that makes rainforests especially valuable. I have never used it but are aware of its deemed "health benefits".
    I hope you are well, thanks for sharing.

      Hi Human Being, how have you been been. Long time haven't heard from you, I just read about it properly after you mentioned it, and I just threw the oil in the bin, was so disgusted by what I read, how comes it's still so widely sold, thank you. I appreciate you mentioning it.

    I just could not read the thickening sauce you added to the onions.
    It sounded like you said palm oil, but it is a sauce
    Can you tell what it is please.
    The soup looks good, and I am collecting ingredients.

      But you know the Internet, you will write something and someone will think they own the dish, so it's best sometimes not to really say what it is.

    So how come you did not add the first tomatoe recipie that you cooked and add into the beans. But you started another recipie where you fried onions and added spices and paste and then beans and that was it. But you had the first tomatoe recipie and i thought that it is what you use . But it appears there are two recipies. Just confusing

    • @DinewithJane
      @DinewithJane  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So the first clip was me cooking the fresh tomatoes, Peppers and ginger and garlic first as a paste that you can use for rice, or for the black eye beans recipe, it's still one recipe, if you watch more you will notice that I do add the paste in, it just give a lovely colour flavour to your Stew. Hope that makes sense.

    Not exactly a good way to cook! All the spices and flavourings used in preparing the first pepper cooking was again repeated in the preparation of the last pepper cooking hence spicing yourself up with too mch spices and flavour enhancers - reason that many health conscious people avoid eating in restaurants.

    This is an over elaborate way to cook, and palm oil is bad for many reasons.
