For anyone wondering, the best possible setup will multiply the base rarity by ~7.1 making the best possible odds of getting KOS-MOS 0.7% or about 1 in 140
I have a really funny story about Kosmos. I've played Xc2 all the way through almost a dozen times over the last seven years. Never got kosmos. This year, while doing one of my annual series replays, I found myself standing before the final boss door in Xc2. This had been my best run of the game yet, as by this point I had nearly every system down to a science, with a final playtime of 44.5 hours. Before I went to the final boss, I wanted to use my last two legendary core crystals. I verbally, audibly, said out loud to no one in particular: "This is my last chance to get Kosmos". A rolled the first core, and Bam, Kosmos. I sat in my chair, silently staring at the switch for a solid three minutes. After seven years, it would have been surprising enough to roll Kosmos, but the fact that I said it out loud, in front of the final boss door, on my last two legendary core crystals, during the best run I'd ever had of the game, was enough to make me think I'd used up all the luck I'd ever have again. So I plopped her into my party and beat the final boss with Kosmos for the first time ever. I do not think I will ever top that run of Xc2
Great guide ! About idea boosters as far as I know using a booster overrides the peak values of you other ideas. So just using one Justice booster is enough to increase you chance for getting a Light or Dark blade.

Correction in relation to the probability groups: The developers did mess up, and getting the pity Blades originally intended for group 5 is impossible. However, the probability group works completely fine. What happened instead is that the pity Blades intended for group 1 also are the pity Blades for group 2. The ones intended for group 2 actually end up being the pity Blades for group 3, and so on, meaning the ones intended for group 5 don't happen at all. You can still get the probabilities for group 5, but you'll end up with the Blades intended for group 4 instead. I know this is correct because I got Kora, Nim, and Finch early on in my playthrough, the pity Blades intended for group 4. However, the last Blade I have left is Agate, I've opened many core crystals and still haven't got her. This would make sense in group 5, where she has a 0.13% chance, almost as rare as KOS-MOS. Additionally, some of the last rare Blades I got where Electra, Ursula, and Floren, who all have a 0.25% chance in group 5. Also, in relation to the luck stat, while it does have an effect, it is the least impactful effect. At 999 luck it only boosts chance by x1.36. Also, the luck stat is inside a square root, which means more luck has a reducing effect. 300 luck is a x1.17, 500 luck is a x1.24 modifer. 900 has a x1.34 modifier, almost the maximum. Because of this, I tend not to bother about the luck stat since it has a minimal effect, and reorganising my Blades to get a high luck stat isn't really worth the hassle.
I got KOS-MOS on chapter 4 from a common crystal. She was summoned by Nia. All five blade probability groups can be obtained, it's only the pity blades which were coded incorrectly. Groups 1 and 2 both get the pity blades intended for group 1, group 3 gets the pity blades intended for group 2, etc. Since many of the pity blades had lowered pull rates in the groups they were intended to be pity blades in, this makes pulling every blade a bit harder in 4 of the 5 groups (especially for groups 4 and 5).

Vale has been my KOS-MOS. I got KOS-MOS very early during my first playthrough and never thought much about it. And after grinding for all the rare blades, Vale is the only one that has eluded me for years. I'm going to try this method, and I know I need to boost my Justice level as much as possible. Is there a way to downgrade my other stats though, so that Justice dominates?
Currently on chapter 5 and just got her from a random rare core crystal, I recently pulled Percival from a legendary core then got Kos Mos 4 rare cores later😅 Got her with 400 luck, I thought I had pretty good luck when I got Zenobia as my first rare blade, total legendary cores used 4. Just realised I have all rare blades now minus the ones we get from the story, so my total used cores are appropriately 160 common, 40-50 rares and 4 legendary.
Good guide. I want to add something tho. You get Boosters mostly from salvaging and then selling the treasure at exchange centers. Also, it'll be useless if you use more Boosters than the max level of the idea stat you're trying to overtake. Let's say you want a Light/Dark Blade with a Justice idea level of 3, but your Bravery level is 4. In this case, it's enough to use 2 Boosters to get Justice to level 5 which is greater than Bravery's level 4. Keep in mind that I took Bravery as your max idea stat. You need to overtake whatever idea stat you have as the highest. In this case, if you want Fire/Water Blades, you wouldn't have to use any Boosters because Bravery is already the highest idea stat. Iirc it does still increase odds for Rare Blades if you do use Boosters tho.

@@MaxMonado Do you have any suggestions of what to do now? Everything I was doing was for KOS-MOS, after all. 🤔 I finished the game and I'm level 96. It's my first playthrough.
Consistently? It feels not genuine from what I remember. But i honestly have a sincere feeling that the one percent chance is a misleading digit. I swear it has to be like a 1% based on the save file, and the chapter because on my first playthrough it took two whole ng+ playthroughs to have her spawn, but then the nanosecond i selected separate switch user accounts, i got her _twice_ In chapter 3. Perhaps similar to how one of the starting rare blade trees is broken, kos mos' chance ratio is broken as well?
Well the game has been datamined through and through, if Kos-Mos' percentage was wrong I think someone would have noticed it by now, though it would explain a lot. As far as we know it's just luck at the end of the day.
So, on my most recent run, I decided to treat XC2 like an actual gacha game and restart and reroll until I got Kos-Mos from the dlc core crystals..... I somehow got her halfway through the stash on my first attempt..... do not ask because I do not know
I got her on my second play I think but the funny things this game was my entry into Xenoblade and I didn’t know who kosmos was and when I got her I was upset that I didn’t get someone else and didn’t use her for the longest I also got telos and they’re both on zeke 😂😂
Single greatest problem about this gacha system (that somehow made its way into an offline single player game) is that you can only open one at a time ;_;
This stupid gatcha is one of the worst things in the entire franchise. Also until a patch fixed this, it took nearly a minute to pull ONE blade, as skipping the animation was not possible. Absolutely disgusting.
It has some good things. I just hope if they do a xenoblade 2 remake they could give us an option for getting with challenge or quest (that wouldn't giving them in base game) or gatcha. For example in this new run I had to use a canon on Nia which is a weapon I didn't used at all and it was a fun discovery. Field skill s*cks
I'm still so thankful they implemented the skip button. It still really sucks that it can take you so long to get kos-mos or whatever your final blade is.
Want to know something funny I didn't expect to get kos mos first try I didn't even know kos mos was hard to get. I definitely got to get back to play Xenoblade Chronicles 2 but I hate how you need certain things to progress through the game remind me of torna. Ugh i hate stuff like this.
I have done 3 playthroughs, and in all 3, I have gotten Kos-Mos between chapter 3 and 6, from common/ rare core crystals. It really isn't that bad if you just open every single core crystal you get, however it helps a lot if you are a completionist like me who loves to fight unique monsters and happen to get lots of core crystals from this. I have also had Adenine as a permanent member of my party, so I have probably gotten at least two or three times as many core crystals in my playthroughs as most people will get. That said, I have been incredibly unlucky to never have gotten Vale in 2 out of my 3 playthroughs. Some people like myself will just be incredibly lucky to get Kos- Mos early, while others will not be able to get her for a long time.
As a completionist who does every sidequests and optional thing, I burned through all my core crystals so many times and didn't get her. You were just very blessed to get her let alone consistently.
this "speedrun to kosmos" is misleading dont you think? when it took you a year to get her it was probably because there were other blades in the pool. I may be wrong in thinking that this time she was the only rare blade left, but if I'm correct, then the 2 hours it took to get her isn't indicative of the whole process. great guide tho
I'm late but to clear this up, even after I got every other blade I STILL went a whole year without getting Kos-Mos. Having other blades in the pool shouldn't affect your rates to get Kos-Mos anyways.
For anyone wondering, the best possible setup will multiply the base rarity by ~7.1 making the best possible odds of getting KOS-MOS 0.7% or about 1 in 140

@NascarTK Do level 99. If you have dlc, try doing challenges and build a team around the character you got kos-Mos for
Still wondering why after all this time Monolith didn’t attempt to patch in a fix so group 5 pity blades was an option again.
Consistently?
It feels not genuine from what I remember.
But i honestly have a sincere feeling that the one percent chance is a misleading digit.
I swear it has to be like a 1% based on the save file, and the chapter because on my first playthrough it took two whole ng+ playthroughs to have her spawn, but then the nanosecond i selected separate switch user accounts, i got her _twice_
In chapter 3.
200+ hours across 4 and a half years. That’s how.
So, on my most recent run, I decided to treat XC2 like an actual gacha game and restart and reroll until I got Kos-Mos from the dlc core crystals..... I somehow got her halfway through the stash on my first attempt..... do not ask because I do not know
She was my six or seven rare blade and i got her on the best girl nya.
I was realy luky i gess.
I got her on my second play I think but the funny things this game was my entry into Xenoblade and I didn’t know who kosmos was and when I got her I was upset that I didn’t get someone else and didn’t use her for the longest I also got telos and they’re both on zeke 😂😂
5 hours while into NG+
Single greatest problem about this gacha system (that somehow made its way into an offline single player game) is that you can only open one at a time ;_;
Ok well. Nice video but i already knew that all 😅 Sadly. As Speedrunner i use the pitty system every ng run.
My 2nd playthrough she was the second one I got lol
Okay this is the time... I'm gonna to get kos...
IT'S FIRE CHAKRAM AGAIN 😤
My bro got it on his save why me?
Gotta love rng, I hope you'll get lucky too 🙏
bro I jujst went with rerolling for cosmos
That is insane luck wtf. The fact that you use Adenina definitely helps, but still
As a completionist who does every sidequests and optional thing, I burned through all my core crystals so many times and didn't get her.
