Happy 7th anniversary to the game with the best cat. Never realized that Morag was missing a reaction art. It's surprising how many mechanics the game just... doesn't explain lol. There's one that's missing here: do you know how in XC3 they added button mashing to reduce the duration from Topple/Launch/Sleep/etc? Next time you face against Jin and get Launched in the air, you can mash all the buttons and the stick to regain control faster.
@@Pierah damn I knew that but forgot to mention it here. Also I saw a tweet mention that just pushing all buttons at once and holding them works better than mashing altogether haha

I knew about all of these except the last one. That explains so much...I love playing as Tora but I think I'll try playing as Nia for a bit. Having the boys go apeshat with Driver Combos while I focus on setting up elemental orbs will be immensely helpful for my playstyle.
What do you mean it's seven years old 😭 I remember getting the collectors edition for Christmas. Feels like not even half the time ago. I just got the dlc last year... this year? Time has no meaning and this game is amazing.
1. Found out about this one for battle tutorials from Enel 2. I've always known about this one. 3. Fun fact: There's an NPC that tells the party about the sheathed weapon mechanic. Remember how NPCs would have the little star showing that they have useful info? It's from one of them. The game has a lot of these tips hidden in random dialogue. 4. That's pretty cool and I love those accessories. Max affinity can boost all specials by 1 level as well, increasing it's damage. 5. I played as Rex a lot before and always noticed Nia doing this. Now I main Nia and Rex will pick up the slack when he has a healing blade like Boreas equipped. If no one else can, Zeke can grab potions but only when someone is in a pinch. The AI tries its best. 6. Can't speak on DLC, don't have it but really good to know, thanks! Morag can't Launch on anything? 7. Yeah, guys like Break>Topple>Launch>Smash and females like following the elements. They also have animations speeds so sometimes they activate them too late *cough* Nia trying to Topple *cough*. Give them Blade Switch to help, Morag loves Smashing stuff with Aegeon. I try to force certain element combos to lock them in. I like having Morag do everything besides Launch, and Nia can break the more resistant stuff but I control her for Launch. Rex's only job is Topple when Morag is busy.
Christ I never even realized there was an element symbol in the middle of the icons there in the first place, let alone that it would light up or that there's specific ranges for weapons to be most effective! And I thought I understood the game's combat well. Honestly thought this video would be a bunch of shit I already knew, but good job proving my arrogance wrong. lol These were all great!
I knew everything except the very first one, about "just range." This is probably my favorite video game of all time, so learning something after at least like 12 playthroughs is so damn cool
I didn't know about the movement speed accessory or how effective it really is, nor did I know about taking more damage when your weapon is sheathed. Everything else though I was actually aware of to an extent. I knew about AI party members going after potions if they have a healer Blade, but not that they'd actively switch to a healer if the party is low on health. I knew about Corvin giving Nia's only Smash Art, and while hearing you mention it reminded me of when I saw that Morag doesn't have a launch Art, but I'd forgotten about it before you mentioned it.
7 years... breh. I remember when my mom got me the game at launch when I was 17 and complained about Pyra's bosom and how much they yelled in battle. So much nostalgia and I love this game too much. Both sentimentally and honestly because it's awesome. Also it took me like 170 hours to learn how the top right elemental combo tree worked lol. Wracked my brain so much trying to remember the combos manually. The game's beautiful intricacy led me down a rabbit hole of chasing complex games like Disgaea. XBC2 4ever ❤️
Okay I didn’t know about the movement speed stuff (except during arts of course, I tend to take advantage of that) and the increased damage without weapons, but I did know about the ladders. The rest I mostly knew already, at least in concept if not in detail, yay for brainrot
The final one is the only one that I knew already, probably because of just how essential it is to strategizing fights. Nearly 500 hours racked up back in the day and I didn’t know about any of the others (though I obviously noticed the movement speed went up by the end of the game). Cheers for that.
Bruh number 7 makes so much sense, i never knew this but explains why it felt good to have morag and nia for my nlade combo set and zek and tora for my driver combos
Wow. Did not know about the characters prioritizing Blade Combos vs. those prioritizing Driver Combos in their AI. Also the detail about HP Potion collectors being dependent on class or the sheathing of weapons causing you to take more damage.
This is my gripe too. Even in the latter chapters of the story, I'd want to play with other drivers but Rex/Mythra spamming spinning edge ended fights in half the time or less.
That's because you have to level up your blades trust level; complete their affinity chart and it'll drastically increase their auto-attack rate stat; most blades will have attack over 1100 if you get trust to S+.
I found it a bit frustrating early on, but I had no issue with it later because much of the depth of the combat requires a bit of time to play out in the first place. If you could kill everything fairly quickly, so much of the mechanics simply wouldn't matter much.
1: Yeah I knew about this 2: I knew about this one too, its actually a super useful mechanic 3: Knew about suprise attacks, but didn't know about taking increased damage 4: I knew about the speed mechanics, and using specials to get full speed which is very helpful, but I didn't know about the item in the land of challenge. I kinda hope if there's ever an XC2DE, that they add the quick move feature from 3 because its honestly such a slog to move around, not just for grabbing items but for getting the directional affects on arts, avoiding enemy aoe attacks, and grabbing hp potions. Its even more of a slog if you don't have max affinity. 5: Knew about this 6: Knew about this 7: Knew about this (thanks Enel) Another hidden mechanic you didn't mention: You know how the Idea stats affect your chances of pulling Blades of certain elements? Well there is another, arguably more important use, they affect damage with Blades of the corresponding elements. Each Idea stat level adds +5% damage to corresponding Blades. So if you have lvl 8 Bravery then you get +40% damage with water and fire Blades. This is the entire reason Tora even has idea stats, because if it was only for Blade pulls then they'd be useless. There's also the way the Blade pull system works, pity blades, the 5 different "groups", exactly how idea stats influence Blade pulls, but that is pretty well documented by now, so although the game doesn't tell you any of that a lot of people already know about it.
The idea stats are hell to grind out for Vandham btw because he did never get a consumable for it like Tora did. Good thing that despite technically having them, other characters(Jin, Malos, Torna chars) don't have them visible, so 100% bois are at least spared of that shenanagans.
@@lpfan4491technically you can still see jin & malos's each time they level up... I know my malos has lv 8 compassion lol so unfortunately, if truly insane, 100% bois are still not safe
@@lykalykoi Yeah, you can see the levelups for all of them including Challenge mode Jin and Torna characters, but you cannot see the actual stats without a save editor. So there is no way to see that you got them all to level 10 beyond just "look, we are grinding for 2 days and they don't increase idea levels anymore!"(Especially since the destribution of individual points is RNG, which makes it even messier to track)
I did not know about Number 1. I never even noticed the icon was there. I didn't notice Number 2 either. For Number 3, I knew the ladder thing, but not the extra damage thing. I didn't know about Number 4 despite playing the Land of Challenge myself. I didn't know anything about how classes work other than your Blades determined the class. I didn't know that about Nia and Corvin. I never noticed that the characters had different combo priorities.
I thought i'd know ALL of these, but i actually didn't pay much attention to the fact that the lines in-between your arts light up when you get close to an enemy, especially since i learned that the element icon does that same thing. I always simply payed attention the element icon, and knew that it popped up when at optimal attacking range, but didn't think to use it to know when i was close enough to auto-attack, i think.
Fun fact: If you happen to control Nia during the Break -> Topple tutorial it might happen that you will never mange to break/topple the enemy. If you then start a NG+ you can actzally complete the tutorial on your second go.
after 400 hours i knew all of them but nice to see a reminder. When i discovered the trick of using a special to run faster , i used to call it the home run
I swear the game tells you about the orbs circling the other party member portraits because I actually did know about that, but most of the rest I had no idea.
I really have no idea about the first and the last one. But other than that I somewhat notice although I haven't played the game far enough (chapter 4). Also the one about sheathing weapon make you take more damage actually got explained in the game, some npc you chat tells you that, I don't remember which npc tho. The game give explanation but in a confusing and hidden way.
X2's tutorials were too frontloaded, giving you way too many new terms you couldn't possibly keep straight. then they overcompensated with X3's being too handholdy, too often, and too spread out. I didn't know most of these! I think I might have known one of them and half-known another.
I remember when I figured out #2 it made me want to start my save file over again because I felt like I wanted to make up for floundering so much in the battles early on in the game
I knew about all 7 except for the last bit of number 5. I had already known that having a healer blade on would make the ai go for health potions. But I didn't know that having two healer blades made the ai focus on healing. I had always assumed they would swap to a healer type blade when someone's health got low. This was a great video though! Definitely earned a sub. Keep up the good work! (Also, Rex with normal pants is so cursed to me)
Happy anniversary for my favorite XC game the only hidden mech I didn’t know was surprisingly the first I figured certain weapons can’t hit properly from long range but wasn’t aware about damage boost , the second one is surprisingly explained by game if you paid attention while rest I knew from guides especially the last one
Another hidden mechanic that's not explained in the game is you can raise trust level of a blade above A when you fill their affinity chart; the next set of grades being S, S1-S9, then S+. Getting your blades to S+ trust will give them ridiculous auto-attack stat; Shulk having the highest at 1974 with the best core chip equipped/Tachyon chip. Blades with the bitball weapon have the lowest auto-attack rate at 1119. I have every rare blade at S+ trust, my play time was around 800hrs when I achieved that.
TBH, the second one was the only one I knew. On #7, a really underappreciated mechanic in XC3 is you can change which character you're controlling while in battle. I find the AI isn't as funky in that game as it is in the first two. But if someone's not doing what you need them to, you can just take control and make them. XC2 is certainly a very dense game. Having the player discover hidden mechanics, and feel like a boss for doing so, can be great game design. But at least allow me to revisit the tutorials for the basic stuff. Especially for a 100hr game where there's a strong chance the player might put it down for a while. If we get a DE for the 10th anniversary, hopefully that's part of the QoL improvements.
For every fact: Didn't know #1 Did know #2 Did know #3 Did know #4 Didn't know #5 Didn't know #6 Didn't know #7 ...but now I know all of them thanks to you. Great video!

Consul Z: "Nothing to see here. Pay no attention to the funny names. They mean nothing..." 👀
How many times has it been…
Its "greaves" not "grieves", but that's still a cool detail. Wonder if it was intentional
I think it's fun to think they did this on purpose because the DLC came out after they were already working on XB3 for sure.

Happy anniversary 7th anniversary to xenopeak chronicles 2 my fav rpg of all time next to xenoblade chronicles 3
I can't believe after all this time, Zeke's smash was secretly amazing. This is the game that just never stops giving.
7 years...
I'm in the middle of a replay of 2 and this is very helpful. I didn't know any of this stuff and this is my 4th playthrough.
knew about all of these beforehand lol great vid
Okay I didn’t know about the movement speed stuff (except during arts of course, I tend to take advantage of that) and the increased damage without weapons, but I did know about the ladders. The rest I mostly knew already, at least in concept if not in detail, yay for brainrot
Yay for brainrot indeed
OKAY, THIS IS EPIC, I LEARNED SO MUCH
Didn't know first and last. Great vid😮
I did know about slightly more than half. I probably will be playing through this game again soon. Thanks for the information on this game.
Another hidden mechanic is 2 is that it actually has rail grinding, but you can only do it on the top of the towers in Mor Ardain.
7 years... that fact gave me a grey hair.
We are old
Genuinely impressed there were multiple here I didn't know. Good video.
I got all but 2 though :p
Wow I only knew like 2 things here. Awesome video!
Wow. Did not know about the characters prioritizing Blade Combos vs. those prioritizing Driver Combos in their AI. Also the detail about HP Potion collectors being dependent on class or the sheathing of weapons causing you to take more damage.
13:45 That didn't do as much damage as I was expecting. That's one of my annoyances with XC2, the enemies are WAY too tanky.
This is my gripe too. Even in the latter chapters of the story, I'd want to play with other drivers but Rex/Mythra spamming spinning edge ended fights in half the time or less.
I tend to stick with Blade combos too, the Driver combos just never seem to do enough damage to make it worth switching out Blades for.
1: Yeah I knew about this
2: I knew about this one too, its actually a super useful mechanic
3: Knew about suprise attacks, but didn't know about taking increased damage
4: I knew about the speed mechanics, and using specials to get full speed which is very helpful, but I didn't know about the item in the land of challenge.
5: Knew about this
6: Knew about this
7: Knew about this (thanks Enel)
Another hidden mechanic you didn't mention: You know how the Idea stats affect your chances of pulling Blades of certain elements?
I know my malos has lv 8 compassion lol
so unfortunately, if truly insane, 100% bois are still not safe
@@lykalykoi Yeah, you can see the levelups for all of them including Challenge mode Jin and Torna characters, but you cannot see the actual stats without a save editor. So there is no way to see that you got them all to level 10 beyond just "look, we are grinding for 2 days and they don't increase idea levels anymore!"(Especially since the destribution of individual points is RNG, which makes it even messier to track)
Woah, that Idea stat correlating to damage is very nice to know. Had no clue.
How dare you play Tomorrow with You at the end and make me cry when I wasn’t prepared
Such a good song
Equipping the Auto-Balancers on each character and turning off the qtes was the best choice i ever made while playing this.
after 400 hours i knew all of them but nice to see a reminder.
Didn’t know most of these. Good job my dude. Guess 2 isn’t beating the bad tutorial allegations anytime soon, but I still love it lol
I didn't know combos existed until the end of chapter 5. Thanks Xenoblade 2 tutorial system!
TY TY so much for that first one. I've never seen a game with genuinely fun gameplay, gatekeep said gameplay cause it just wont tell you!
(Also, Rex with normal pants is so cursed to me)
You are the only one who noticed!
@SuperSavajin 🤣
That land of challange movement item is really cool and something i definitely will try out on my next NG+ play through
Never thought of using Zeke’s really long cast time on his mega lance smash art to my advantage. I usually just put smash on somebody else.
In addition to the last point, TTGC added an option to tell your party members which combos to prioritise mid-fight, but iirc it does not work
Happy birthday!
I can not believe you had 6 whole things i had 0 clue about great vid
Another hidden mechanic that's not explained in the game is you can raise trust level of a blade above A when you fill their affinity chart; the next set of grades being S, S1-S9, then S+.
Getting your blades to S+ trust will give them ridiculous auto-attack stat; Shulk having the highest at 1974 with the best core chip equipped/Tachyon chip. Blades with the bitball weapon have the lowest auto-attack rate at 1119.
I have every rare blade at S+ trust, my play time was around 800hrs when I achieved that.
So many hours in this game. So many facts I didnt know
This game is still so good. One of the best of the decade.
I love this wonderful game and it changed my life too. I have over 700 hours of multiple playthroughts. Number 1 and Number 7 were new to me.
If we get a DE for the 10th anniversary, hopefully that's part of the QoL improvements.
had no idea having secondary and tertiary blades meant that much to be equipped, all the different things they can do
For every fact:
Didn't know #1
Did know #2
Did know #3
Did know #4
Didn't know #5
Didn't know #6
Didn't know #7
...but now I know all of them thanks to you. Great video!
Nice!
I’m glad to know that there was so much I didn’t know about this game, lol
