I had a completely stock secondhand 1995 Legacy wagon, and I once got run off the road at 40 MPH and ended up a long way from the road, in a cornfield full of snow so deep I couldn't force the door open. Since I couldn't get out, I figured, well, why not? And it happily, casually drove slowly across the cornfield, through all that snow, up the embankment, and back onto the road. All-weather tires, no less. Grille was packed with snow, underbody lost some plastic, but it was barely even trying. Years later, I hit a curb in a blizzard, flattened a tire, and slowly drove home through unplowed streets on three tires anyway. That thing was amazing.
Dude, I love it, this is the best subaru in winter video ever, It shows how freaking deep the snow is and how hard the car has to go but it does it, climes like crazy, awesome stuff !
He's just having fun, I'm sure he knows a keep can make it up that hill easily. Never thr less that is impressive for that subaru especially with those tires, now imagine he put some better tires after market suspension. The point of this is subaru is an impressive car and subaru lives up to the name.
They use to. You'd be surprised how few subarus there are where I live due to the fact we get snow over the hoodline in a weekly basis lol. Not even these lame crossover suvs do well in it either. I'd definitely would drive a forester with a set of snow chains though had it not for my cheaps of marketplace jeep liberty I got my hands on for 800 bucks. Snow chains are just easier to put on a liberty than a any subaru.
Considering he has NO CLUE WHAT SO EVER how to drive a car in snow and it just shows how good the subaru is.Here is a tip folks, spinning on ANY surface gives LESS TRACTION.....
That was quite impressive bud. The car and you were in your element. Most people would have gotten fatally stuck in the same car. That said my 97 XJ stock on 235/75/15’s lol would definitely go where you went and my Nissan Pathfinder is much better in the snow with locking rear diff. Hell, my Jeep may not make it lol open diff front and back. The Pathfinder would though I’m pretty sure but I wasn’t there and I did love the video. It’s just what I was looking for.
Man, I’ve had Cherokee’s, wranglers and with the exception of a very worked and lifted wrangler, nothing comes close to a Subaru in the snow. I had the 1st gen XV Crosstrek which absolutely crushed it in the trails and some pretty muddy stuff. An XT Forester that was off the hook on dirt roads, snow trails etc and now I just got another 2021 XV. I do wish I could get a little more out of it HP wise but for basic commuting and pulling a motorcycle trailer, it’s fine. It’ll never be “fast” but you’ll have plenty of passing power in traffic and again, where it shines? Snow and trails. Gonna do a few minor upgrades and the rest is just going to be off road lighting. If you want a solid commuter car that’s great when it comes to low buck snow and off road fun, get a Subaru. If it’s your 1st one, you are going to be surprised at its capabilities and the fun you can have with it…as seen here!

I got stuck in my outback, took lifting the front end 6 inches off the ground first 😅🤘 was some deep stuff but it just kept going until it was high centered
fuck yeah man that wagon is sick. I have an 06 wrx wagon myself and there is nothing more satisfying than tearing ass through the snow! cool video. TH-cam algorithm and subie for the win
Big jacked four wheel drive with huge tires stuck on the level in front of my house. Laughed my ass off as my little Crosstrek backed out of my drive way in 16 inches of snow and drove by him
I love my Subi too but let’s be honest bro. Any who owns a jeep and had enough experience driving in score could easily make it up there with the right tires.
Idk why subarus blow up 😂 Next time- stop spinning the tires so much. You’re working the engine much harder than you need to and you’re going slower. What you wanna do instead of redlining the engine for 5 minutes straight is to be easier on the throttle and not treat it like an on/off switch. As the tires start to spin just let off a bit and let them bite. You can actually accelerate faster by doing what I just said than you can by flooring it. That’s sort of similar to how you can stop faster threshold braking than you can stomping the pedal to the floor with abs or no abs you can actually stop sooner by holding the brakes right above the point where abs is going to intervene. Anyway, next time ur in the deep snow like that let off for 5 seconds then spin them a bit and let off for 5 seconds- do this a few times in a row and you’ll start to notice that you actually start to gain momentum faster while you’re off the gas. Because as you spin the tires and then let off the tires drop in wheel speed until they suddenly hit the perfect bite-speed. You can find the perfect bite-speed for your conditions/car and keep ‘er there. Sometimes slow is fast. Smooth is fast. But don’t take my word for it- give it a try. You have to feel the snow. But I’m that guy who goes out driving in the middle of nowhere during blizzards just because it’s my fav thing to do.

MUD/ soft clay is the exception as it clings to the tires blocking the thread. So you must spin em fast to eject the mud from the tires.@@MrKveite1
it doesent mather, spinning tires are still less traction.
