    The thing about the EQ is it can correct for a bad room. I have an old TX-SR608 and it just died so I ordered the TX-NR6050. I liked your video though I do not agree with all of it. You did give me an idea though. I will go through ALL my current setting and WRIGHT THEM DOWN before setting up the new unit. I have an SPL meter so the speakers will be set to a balanced level, I may run the Onkyo EQ mic calibration for frequency to see how that works.... It may correct for the room. I was not prepared to for $1200 (NR7100) or $1600 (RZ50) both come with Dirac live which I am told is a miracle worker.

    The 6050 didn't have any imax settings, not in LCD mode anyway. Got some 2006 Onkyo 7.1 for it, real good deal, got the old soundblaster Rx for the toslink because the motherboard has this blue plug with no label, it started to bother me alot, but the reciever only has eARC.

    Thank you for the video. I picked up an Onkyo TX-NR727 receiver. I am using it with Bose Acustimass speakers (5.1). After several attempts to refine the sound, I am struggling with how different TV channels send different signals. I hate to have to adjust the sound settings for each channel I watch. Is DTS the way to go or All-Room Surround? I would think these receivers could auto-switch to reflect the best sound for the signal it receives. Any advice?

    i came to discover about the equalizer settings 10:32 but you said is not necesary ... i think it is because inspite of the quality of the speaker you can improve the audio that goes trough ... but at the end i am very disapointed because Netflix content is 2.0 they don't have any content on pure 5.1 so all this configuration is for nothing i play Netflix content the 80% of the time... is a shame the quality of Netflix is so bad.

      @@fredyescape128 you may need to adjust the audio output settings of your tv. You may be outputting PCM which will give you 2.0 channel to your receiver. Change it to Auto 1 if it's set to PCM.

    I agree with the video creator that EQ shouldn't be used, and that you should set up an AVR by yourself.
    I've always run systems like this, and still run my Onkyo 605 without EQ and with manual adjustments.

    • @gak0090
      @gak0090 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I respect your opinion on EQs, but the truth is that sound is somewhat subjective, additionally depending on age, heating impairment and different hearing acuity in people the ability to fine tune the sound is a welcome option. Also another time I would use the EQ would be to create my own kind of "night mode" or "quiet mode"- I know many receivers have a function like this, but usually they don't always work well. For instance there will be times where I want to cut below 90hz and increase dialogue mid frequencies if I'm trying to keep the volume down. Also sometimes the default settings do not correspond with you taste on the inputs. There are many reasons to use an EQ or not depending on your taste, the default might be great- but it's better to have one and not use it than to need one and not have it.

    • @user-kv3ue5fp4c
      @user-kv3ue5fp4c หลายเดือนก่อน

      Never got an alert that someone responded to my post; sorry.
      Of course, it was my personal opinion; some EQ systems will benefit certain rooms. I am of the school that suggests you should get your setup and speakers right before using auto setup and EQ systems.
      Actually, I broke from my tradition of buying nothing but Onkyo AVRs and just bought a Denon X2800; I just can't get past Onkyos stupid decision to leave off the sound mode indicator on the front panels of the receivers. I hope the Denon works out for me...

      You generally wanna run 6 and higher on most receivers although a decent receiver can handle 4ohms no problem as long as you don’t crank it or play loud for long because it tends to run your amps hotter, I have added fans sucking the hot air out the top and have never had one issue on my Onkyo.
