Since I have the next model (PMA-900ne) I will add some notes to this excellent review 900ne it is supposedly 800ne+streamer so I'd assume most remarks about sound fit (but I can't vouched for it as I haven't heard 800ne) there are some nice features added other than the built in streamer, so the 900ne: - does have a sub-out - has an detachable power cord - its volume knob turns infinitely left and right - no problems with it being already loud at 9 o'clock and unusable around 12 o'clock, it's also scaled nicely, so there are no problems with eithger small or big volume adjustments - analog mode is gone - does have a LAN cable input, it's not wifi only I'm really surprised you've said there is no difference in sound in source direct mode on the 800ne. On the 900ne with both treble and bass in default ("0") position there is an audible change in quality, it's not huge but definitely noticeable - sounds become slightly smoother, I'd say it's mostly the mids (I've connected it to KEF Q500) The bass volume knob could definitely be tuned lower just like you said, it's sounds more like like low-mids adjustment rather than actual bass. Or maybe we could have 3 (or more?) EQ knobs but I guess only two are allowed in aspiring-to-be-audiophile-quality gear Remote is exactly the same chunky and obsolete looking Denon remote that has been designed in 1990 (my guess). It also has built in CD keys which are going to be totally useless if you don't have a cd player - rather disanointing item Streamer - I have nothing to compare it with, so just some points: - streaming .mp3 and flac files via the HEOS app works fine (from android phone) - I've tried internet radio once or twice - worked fine and sounded great - bass and treble can be adjusted through the app - no issues whatsoever with Spotify direct or however it is called which is how I use the streamer 99% of the time Overall I'm very happy I bought it but dme-800ne + wiim mini will be better value if you don't care about the features I've listed. edit: that is entirely subjectable but I love the design, looks so much better than the Marantz amps which look to be on the tacky side to me.

Matched with the Klipsch RP-600 M is a very pleasurable listening experience in my opinion.

I have to agree with you on some points about the speaker. I've been using it for nearly 9 years now and unfortunately I keep noticing that at higher volumes the highs and upper mids can become tiring. When there are explosions in films, it can also be tiring if you want to listen to something louder if the dynamics are strong. I first had a Yamaha and now I have an Onkyo RZ 70. The Onkyo is a much better fit for this speaker in my opinion. You have to turn the highs down with the calibration system such as Ypao or Dirac. It's not really suitable for older rock music, say from the 70s and 80s. But new material is definitely OK. Pop music or electronic music are no problem.

is svs ulta evolution center good or old svs ulta center?? I have the idea to buy svs ultra evolution center, there will be polk s60 fronts on the right and left, I use receiver onkyo 696, how will svs ultra evolution sound with only one receiver, in your opinion?

I really appreciate the explanation of the 3.5 way design. I was wondering where exactly they crossed everything over. I had also noticed that the Pinnacle was a 3 way, while the Primes are 3.5 way. It's interesting that SVS opted to not use a 3.5 way design on a speaker with 3 woofers.

Our new house came with a Parasound 275 and a Speakercraft S4vc multiroom speakervselector. The speakers are outdoors and mounted on our house. There is a red and white tipped cable which runs from the television and everything turns on but I have no sound. I’ve no idea how to connect this properly. If anyone has any information at all, I would greatly appreciate learning how to get sound out of this machine.

the marantz supposedly has the better dac but idk what real life difference that makes. I've got a 6006 but i'm torn between another 6006 or trying a 6007 for an extra bit of cash. the denon has a similar spec 24bit 192khz dac than the 6006. i have got amazon music etc so i will sometimes listen to ultra HD music to make use of the better dac but i could use extra bass and i know the dac in the 6006 sounds very good.

i have mine that only shows the red or power on, but there is any output, the indication is like thepre amp has an issue, which components could be changed.

The pre-out sub out on a preamplifier on a AV receiver is the worst connection for music, it’s a specialized connection for HT and limits the subwoofer from playing very high. High level connections are the best for music but some amplifiers can’t connect directly to subs. LFE connections are the most friendly in most situations and doesn’t limit music.

Bright speakers could be toned down using a tube preamp, and/or by using an equalizer.

They are not comparable. Pma 1600 is a refined tank...800 is Just an amplifier.

Had both of these, had to return them & got the Yamaha A-S501 because the Denons give off a humming sound from the transporters. Yamaha was super quiet.

I bought a pair of the B&W 603 S2 Anniversary speakers about three months ago. They are used on a daily basis for 2-3 hours. When I first got them, I have to say, I was disappointed. Three months on, these speakers are sounding very good, so I would definitely say, these speakers need a very long run in time.

my sub is wired and the receiver I'm upgrading to, the sub output isn't wired. Can I use banana plugs to connect the wired sub to the receiver?

I have a Marantz cinema 50 running in 5.2.4 but i want to go 7.2.4 or 5.2.6 I think of run all my bed layer(5) through the 7055.Makes Sense?7025 is almost same price,so maybe doing 5 channels brings upgrade .

That's good and all but are we really buying new amps every few years for this sub or are there better options out there so you don't have to do this every year. I'd like to buy a sub I won't have to replace every couple of years.

Could you make a video that shows you how to test the "pre-amp" output of a subwoofer plate amp? There are many amplifiers floating around online that range from 25 watt to 2500 watt and they all require a specific voltage input from a pre-amp board. If people knew how to measure the output of their "subwoofer plate pre-amp" because they blew the power amp part. It would be a huge video if you could teach that in a simplistic way. I realize it's not that simple, but it wouldn't be hard to give the basics.
