What baffles me even more is Mr. freeze doesn't even use conventional guns, he uses his freeze ray in like every version of himself. So why make a genderbent version that doesn't use that signature gun? It's like taking away Batman's utility belt or Captain boomerang's boomerang.

Well she does appear in the comics , 2005 in detective comics dont remember the issue. She has ice powers. Now i still dont think she was a good pick AT ALL . But as for them adding her because they dont read comics doesnt hold up, she IS a comic character, granted she looks WAY different. She looks awful in the game

@@Morfe02 it’s as repetitive as you want it to be. There’s easily 12+hrs of story here with some fun/cool cutscenes, and an awesome world that has some pretty fun traversal mechanics. TH-camrs hate the game just to hate it. Hell even Luke said he only makes these vids bc they get a lot of views. He goes into these vids with a negative mindset, so every little thing that annoys him will be amplified. But if you go in with an open mind the game is actually pretty fun!

At the very least, Mrs. Freeze could have been Nora Fries instead of Victor Fries. If they wanted to push it, they could have also added that Nora came out of her sleep, froze herself, and help her husband find a cure as well / both survived the brainiac battle of their world but got separated because of brainiac. (They keep the same trope of “lost loved one”as presented in the game)

Game dev here. I'll tell you why they didn't do the ice as actual platforms that other people can ride on. Right now the ice only exists as a VFX. It's not even there as a physical thing. And the "ice path ability" just fixes her movement in a specific way. As in her movement gets locked by a code to follow a specific path and ice exists as vfx. Think of it like she's riding a hover board with ice vfx. That's why the ice melts as fast as it does. Doing what you want would've required the ice path and her movement to be two independent systems that interact with one other. So coding wise her ice path would've been one thing that she lays down as an environmental interactable object, and then her riding on that ice path would've been a separate "incident". Benefit would be that you can then use that same "incident" and apply that to other characters that also use the ice path. But that's not what they did. However, there is a game that actually did do it correctly. It's called spellbreak. It's now shut down but in spell break the frost class could shoot an ice arrow that would freeze everything beneath it and every party member that got on the ice would get a massive speed boost. But that requires your characters to not exist in isolation in the game world. But in suicide squad all characters exist in isolation where their abilities don't actually interact with each others at all. And making the ice platform thing for "Mrs freeze" when you don't have an existing framework where characters abilities can interact with each other would've taken much more effort than the game is worth. Idk if I did good job of explaining it or not if anyone has any doubts feel free to ask and I'll explain further via edits. I posted this comment originally on his second channel but i thought it would help here too.
Bro I played Spellbreak when it first released and I may not like battle Royales, but the concept actually had a ton of potential, and I kind of liked how chaotic the late game would get because of how the mechanics were structured. That's a good game for developers to learn from

Never looked at ones that was successful and ones that didn't,to know what to do and what not to do and things they can improve on that successful live services games have trouble in. I'm really convinced this game is made for certain people on the devs team and not for the players they wanted to play this. They wouldn't be here had they played the avengers game completely because this game follows in the same footsteps beat for beat
It's incredibly sad because the game isn't nearly as bad as people say it is. It's indefinitely worth ATLEAST 30$, and that's pre-season 2 launch... There's more now. The combat alone carries the game, even if people nitpick the story.

That's part of the problem, though, gamers are still fine with ESG, just so long as it suits your taste. They are actually using a two-tier method, where they make extremely ESG-laden games -- like this game -- that people recoil at, but then they roll out stuff like TLOU or Hogwarts and everyone laps it up. Basically, the extremism of games like SS: KTJL is so far left that people still accept ESG implementations when they're rolled out softly in games like Hogwarts or Spider-Man 2.
It's simple, Mr. Freeze is a more recognizable character and with all the risks they were taking with this Game i don't believe WB would allow them a niche character like Killer Frost as their second big DLC character

Also, the initial research that seemed to validate the DEI frenzy - which purported to show that companies with more diverse boards have higher rates of returns - has not been replicated and independent analyses show that there is no correlation. Crazy how we went from something so incredible like Batman Arkham knight, that was so ahead of it’s time for gameplay and graphical fidelity, and still holds up beautifully to this day, even better than games newer than it, idk why this game was made, when it was being developed through times where live service games were FLOPPING, only cod, fortnite, 2k/nfl are doing fine cuz they are established franchises, and Fortnite did something so unique, but this game is something nobody wanted, why WB made rocksteady develop this game is just a mystery we won’t know, just tragic.

The skin at 10:56 is based on Mr. Freeze's costume from when he was originally introduced back in the late 50's, when he was known as Mr. Zero. It did not look good back then, and it does not look good now.
Don't think the new team would get said protection, what they did would fall under "war crimes" and trying to get witness protection from that would be a titan of an order.
You know, to a degree, the idea of encountering multiverse versions of characters we know who are different from the ones we are familiar with on paper sounds like it could work. The problem in my opinion is what they chose to do with their multiverse versions of the characters. We got Angsty teen joker and Mrs Freeze, when instead we could have had ideas that were much more off the wall. Here are some off the top of my head: A Black Manta who became the legitimate king of Atlantis until his version of Brainiac destroyed it. A Joker/Scarecrow hybrid character that alternates between using fear and laughing gas. (Maybe have an air of mystery by making it unclear which half came first, the joker or scarecrow?) A Mirror Master who was formerly enslaved by his Brainiac and only managed to escape by hiding in the mirror world. Now he’s a vengeful ronnin type character who is gurellia warfaring his way across the multiverse. I bet anyone could come up with more creative options than what we got, and that’s just sad. They could have gone absolutely bonkers with the alternate versions of these characters, and instead we got this. (Side note, does anyone else have more ideas for some multiverse variants? I would love to hear some more ideas).

Okay, so you say Black manta would’ve some cool moves if he was added to the game but… the only thing that makes the characters different from each other is their traversal which I’d you can see the pattern, it’s not related to the character. Black manta like any other character would just be a skin. One of the biggest problem of this game and one I don’t see many people talk about it’s the core gameplay that doesn’t let the character shine with the own abilities. Making the suicide strike an special unique ability RELATED to the character would had been a great start, like letting Deadshot see through walls and bounce his bullets, let borrmerang throw a boomerang, use one of Harley’s multiple gadgets or let Shark eat an enemy. I mean… there is so much ideas I have of changes I would’ve made to the game and still keeping basic and core ideas of the game.
The whole thing is a just a dumbed down Borderlands, without any of the fun. No way to specialise no unique abilities. They could have easily had different classes with each character, harley using her pop gun revolver and her mallet, shark being a tanky brawler who can throw things, captain boomerang using his boomerangs with each one adding effects, deadshot has snipers and pistols making him more basic but give him interesting abilities. For the add ons Joker has his cane and bang bang bang revolver or acid flower (hell, make a special accuracy move that uses the comically long barreled one), Mr/Mrs freeze using their cryothermal gun that has mid range freeze beam and close range heat blast (yes Mr freeze uses heat weapons as well, weird).
It should not work with guns only for the characters who use them. Captain Boomerang without using the boomerang as his main weapon. Harley Quinn a bat or a mallet.

It's not a perfect game by any means and it does get repetitive, but as far as superhero games go, it's got one of the most fun and creative types of gameplay. Please give games an actual, unbiased try before bashing them just because everyone else is doing it. Or if you don't, at least have the decency of not saying a game is bad because someone online says so.

I'll definitely play or buy anything from Sefton Hill and his team's new studio. But I won't buy or play a single game from rocksteady anymore. Due to the fact that half of the studio got replaced by a "consulting group" that "helped" make this game.
Two things I find amusing: 1) The two characters added to the game so far have been dead in the Arkham Canon for years, so there's a good reason for them to NOT be there. 2) No Killer Frost? She's a woman and has ice powers, yet not inclusion in this trainwreck? Ok, Rocksteady, whatever you say.... Adendum: They are using the "Elseworlds" concept for two reasons (I bet): To bring in whoever they want in whatever style they want and go "multiverse"! And second, to rez the Justice League because of course they're going to do that. (I can't wait to hear the excuse of "Batman has throat damage, so he sounds different" to excuse Kevin's eventual replacement.... Or Ai, probably that if they're REEEAAALY desperate).
The founders of Rocksteady didn't abandon their team, they left when WB was taking control and making demands, they knew this game was a failure from the get go, so they left and from what I've read took a lot of their best employees with them to start a new company.
Well they did abandon the team, being in charge of the main story, direction and leading development of this game and leaving the studio before the game is due to come out is certainly abandoning the team. All the backlash is directed to the game design, story and direction which the co founder of Rocksteady that left, was in charge of. No excuses for them putting their team in the gutter along with the game.

22:00 I get the feeling that they started work on a motion cutscene, had it framed and boarded out, but the animations were still wonky. Then a manager came in and said, "We're cutting this to an 8 hour budget. Make it work". And so they just took screenshots that didn't betray the unfinished animations, and took the remaining 7 hours off.
Out if a morbid curiosity I looked up a video of the cutscenes for season 3 and the new character is written in a way that’s unintentionally grating. But I do find it hilarious for people to suddenly start calling the game where Captain Boomerang pisses on the Justice League “woke”

They coulda added Killer Frost, a Meta Human with Ice Powers. (She's the archenemy of Firestorm) OR EVEN CAPTAIN COLD. Frost has Ice Powers and Cap has a Frost Gun and that could worked. Or Deathstroke, Bane, Black Manta, Black Spider, Peacemaker, or even Red Hood or Lady Shiva. But no. We get a Gender Bent Tubi version of Mr. Freeze. What the hell man..........
It was most likely a business decision. They have to balance the cast to include different diversities, matching the ethnic diversity found in real life, in order to foster racial inclusion. I would do the same thing if I were a video game producer, especially if I wanted to sell the game to international audiences.

What kills me about Mrs Freeze is that there are two other whole ass Ice women they could've used; Killer Frost and Ice. Ice, especially, would've been good narratively because she could be looking for her partner and want to use Brainiac to hop universes looking for Fire. Im tired of Batman who Laughs. Owlman is better. Jason Todd is better. Thomas Wayne is better
Adding Owlman as a character seems like a legitimately good idea. It would be the closest the have to the Original Arkham Batman, and his cynical, fatalistic but still well-reasoned commentary on the story would be pretty cool and stand out since none of the current characters are smart. This takes for granted the writers could put in the effort or even be capable to do him justice, though, which I doubt.
Out of Everything gender swapping Mr Freeze was the best idea. And Killer Frost already Exist. And they could have used Killer Frost from Assault On Arkham in the game. She was Hott. 🔥😎👍💯

The problem is Rocksteady WAS able to make something better than this years ago, but whether they’re still able to is a big maybe. I fear this is similar to Arkane Austin/Redfall where the project no one wanted to make led to massive brain drain and the core talent that made the studio truly special has left.

I mean think of this idea. Suicide squad members for the most part are villains turned by ARGUS. Now imagine at the beginning of each season a big name member in the comics decides to go to that city because of all the chaos that is going on. Waller then sends a new recruit in this case a lesser known member of suicide squad to help defeat big named villain to then recruit to defeat another form of Brainiac. So in this case for season 2 since its ice themed. Bring in Captain Cold or Killer Frost to stop Mr Freeze in his Iceberg shaped lair, adds a whole new level to the map, different enemy types. Maybe add some gimmicks like forming melee weapons out of the ice like a giant ice hammer or some shit, or hell even add some fire things for weaknesses. Then 2 new characters are playable to defeat the newer form of Braniac. I mean I'm not a game designer, but are designers running out of creative things to do, is technology holding them back, or is it the corporations running these studios? I'm not saying my idea is a great one, but from what I have seen on this game, said idea is kind of a "layup".
It's like the looked for every possible corner to stub their toes on lol And when they couldn't find one, they built one just to ensure something got stubbed.
People keep talking about the modern audience. Where is that mythical modern audience at? Hollywood is fading out of existence chasing it. A lot of game studios have been closed trying to find it as well.
I agree with most of the gameplay I personally like her design for one the redness around her eyes is quite brilliant and I hope future versions of Mr freeze have them as well because they're meant to look like after you've cried for long time. And I've know some people mentioned about how buff she is besides the fact that in the comics there is plain versions of Mr freeze where he wears a giant suit of armour. But if you watch her anime video you can see that she just started walking out in her spare time and she genetically modified herself to become stronger most likely to carry around heavy equipment
The main problem is that the developers didn´t care about the game being good all they had in mind was how woke can they do it and as long as they have that mindset they wont be able to make good games

In SS, all I see are four players doing their own thing in one massive playing field. No interactions between characters. Idk if there actually is, and if there are please tell me, but so far I think they are doing co-op the bare minimum

There could have been an interesting swap with Nora as now Mrs. Freeze and Victor in the tank, But this is a game developed in part by Sweet Baby Inc. with the sole purpose of pandering. That's the reason the game never had life, not because the chiefs walked out on them.

Would've been cool if they did more Arkham characters for the seasonal characters, also my first thought for a cool character to add for the seasonal model would've been Doomsday. They've already shown they can do bigger models why not try cooler stuff instead of having boring variants of older characters that have no ties to anything we know.

@@Morfe02 it’s as repetitive as you want it to be. There’s easily 12+hrs of story here with some fun/cool cutscenes, and an awesome world that has some pretty fun traversal mechanics.

He goes into these vids with a negative mindset, so every little thing that annoys him will be amplified. But if you go in with an open mind the game is actually pretty fun!

If they wanted to push it, they could have also added that Nora came out of her sleep, froze herself, and help her husband find a cure as well / both survived the brainiac battle of their world but got separated because of brainiac. (They keep the same trope of “lost loved one”as presented in the game)

Game dev here. I'll tell you why they didn't do the ice as actual platforms that other people can ride on. Right now the ice only exists as a VFX. It's not even there as a physical thing. And the "ice path ability" just fixes her movement in a specific way. As in her movement gets locked by a code to follow a specific path and ice exists as vfx. Think of it like she's riding a hover board with ice vfx. That's why the ice melts as fast as it does.
Doing what you want would've required the ice path and her movement to be two independent systems that interact with one other. So coding wise her ice path would've been one thing that she lays down as an environmental interactable object, and then her riding on that ice path would've been a separate "incident". Benefit would be that you can then use that same "incident" and apply that to other characters that also use the ice path. But that's not what they did.
However, there is a game that actually did do it correctly. It's called spellbreak. It's now shut down but in spell break the frost class could shoot an ice arrow that would freeze everything beneath it and every party member that got on the ice would get a massive speed boost. But that requires your characters to not exist in isolation in the game world. But in suicide squad all characters exist in isolation where their abilities don't actually interact with each others at all. And making the ice platform thing for "Mrs freeze" when you don't have an existing framework where characters abilities can interact with each other would've taken much more effort than the game is worth.
Idk if I did good job of explaining it or not if anyone has any doubts feel free to ask and I'll explain further via edits.

Bro I played Spellbreak when it first released and I may not like battle Royales, but the concept actually had a ton of potential, and I kind of liked how chaotic the late game would get because of how the mechanics were structured. That's a good game for developers to learn from

Never looked at ones that was successful and ones that didn't,to know what to do and what not to do and things they can improve on that successful live services games have trouble in. I'm really convinced this game is made for certain people on the devs team and not for the players they wanted to play this. They wouldn't be here had they played the avengers game completely because this game follows in the same footsteps beat for beat
It's incredibly sad because the game isn't nearly as bad as people say it is. It's indefinitely worth ATLEAST 30$, and that's pre-season 2 launch... There's more now.

Basically, the extremism of games like SS: KTJL is so far left that people still accept ESG implementations when they're rolled out softly in games like Hogwarts or Spider-Man 2.
It's simple, Mr. Freeze is a more recognizable character and with all the risks they were taking with this Game i don't believe WB would allow them a niche character like Killer Frost as their second big DLC character

Also, the initial research that seemed to validate the DEI frenzy - which purported to show that companies with more diverse boards have higher rates of returns - has not been replicated and independent analyses show that there is no correlation. Don't think the new team would get said protection, what they did would fall under "war crimes" and trying to get witness protection from that would be a titan of an order.
You know, to a degree, the idea of encountering multiverse versions of characters we know who are different from the ones we are familiar with on paper sounds like it could work. The problem in my opinion is what they chose to do with their multiverse versions of the characters. We got Angsty teen joker and Mrs Freeze, when instead we could have had ideas that were much more off the wall.
Here are some off the top of my head:
A Black Manta who became the legitimate king of Atlantis until his version of Brainiac destroyed it.
A Joker/Scarecrow hybrid character that alternates between using fear and laughing gas. (Maybe have an air of mystery by making it unclear which half came first, the joker or scarecrow?)
A Mirror Master who was formerly enslaved by his Brainiac and only managed to escape by hiding in the mirror world. Now he’s a vengeful ronnin type character who is gurellia warfaring his way across the multiverse.
I bet anyone could come up with more creative options than what we got, and that’s just sad. They could have gone absolutely bonkers with the alternate versions of these characters, and instead we got this.
(Side note, does anyone else have more ideas for some multiverse variants? I would love to hear some more ideas).

Okay, so you say Black manta would’ve some cool moves if he was added to the game but… the only thing that makes the characters different from each other is their traversal which I’d you can see the pattern, it’s not related to the character. Black manta like any other character would just be a skin. One of the biggest problem of this game and one I don’t see many people talk about it’s the core gameplay that doesn’t let the character shine with the own abilities. Making the suicide strike an special unique ability RELATED to the character would had been a great start, like letting Deadshot see through walls and bounce his bullets, let borrmerang throw a boomerang, use one of Harley’s multiple gadgets or let Shark eat an enemy. I mean… there is so much ideas I have of changes I would’ve made to the game and still keeping basic and core ideas of the game.
The whole thing is a just a dumbed down Borderlands, without any of the fun. No way to specialise no unique abilities. They could have easily had different classes with each character, harley using her pop gun revolver and her mallet, shark being a tanky brawler who can throw things, captain boomerang using his boomerangs with each one adding effects, deadshot has snipers and pistols making him more basic but give him interesting abilities. For the add ons Joker has his cane and bang bang bang revolver or acid flower (hell, make a special accuracy move that uses the comically long barreled one), Mr/Mrs freeze using their cryothermal gun that has mid range freeze beam and close range heat blast (yes Mr freeze uses heat weapons as well, weird).

Bro has been on the frontlines, bashing a game that's REALLY not that bad lol. It's not a perfect game by any means and it does get repetitive, but as far as superhero games go, it's got one of the most fun and creative types of gameplay.
Please give games an actual, unbiased try before bashing them just because everyone else is doing it. Or if you don't, at least have the decency of not saying a game is bad because someone online says so.

I'll definitely play or buy anything from Sefton Hill and his team's new studio. But I won't buy or play a single game from rocksteady anymore. Due to the fact that half of the studio got replaced by a "consulting group" that "helped" make this game.
My first thought when I heard “Mrs. Freeze” was Nora trying to help Victor and she became Freeze. But no, they just made a Female Lesbian Freeze
Two things I find amusing:
1) The two characters added to the game so far have been dead in the Arkham Canon for years, so there's a good reason for them to NOT be there.
2) No Killer Frost? She's a woman and has ice powers, yet not inclusion in this trainwreck? Ok, Rocksteady, whatever you say....
Adendum: They are using the "Elseworlds" concept for two reasons (I bet): To bring in whoever they want in whatever style they want and go "multiverse"! And second, to rez the Justice League because of course they're going to do that. (I can't wait to hear the excuse of "Batman has throat damage, so he sounds different" to excuse Kevin's eventual replacement.... Or Ai, probably that if they're REEEAAALY desperate).
The founders of Rocksteady didn't abandon their team, they left when WB was taking control and making demands, they knew this game was a failure from the get go, so they left and from what I've read took a lot of their best employees with them to start a new company.
Well they did abandon the team, being in charge of the main story, direction and leading development of this game and leaving the studio before the game is due to come out is certainly abandoning the team. All the backlash is directed to the game design, story and direction which the co founder of Rocksteady that left, was in charge of. No excuses for them putting their team in the gutter along with the game.

22:00 I get the feeling that they started work on a motion cutscene, had it framed and boarded out, but the animations were still wonky. Then a manager came in and said, "We're cutting this to an 8 hour budget. Make it work". And so they just took screenshots that didn't betray the unfinished animations, and took the remaining 7 hours off.
Out if a morbid curiosity I looked up a video of the cutscenes for season 3 and the new character is written in a way that’s unintentionally grating.

What kills me about Mrs Freeze is that there are two other whole ass Ice women they could've used; Killer Frost and Ice.

Adding Owlman as a character seems like a legitimately good idea. It would be the closest the have to the Original Arkham Batman, and his cynical, fatalistic but still well-reasoned commentary on the story would be pretty cool and stand out since none of the current characters are smart. This takes for granted the writers could put in the effort or even be capable to do him justice, though, which I doubt.
Out of Everything gender swapping Mr Freeze was the best idea. And Killer Frost already Exist. And they could have used Killer Frost from Assault On Arkham in the game. She was Hott. 🔥😎👍💯

The problem is Rocksteady WAS able to make something better than this years ago, but whether they’re still able to is a big maybe. I fear this is similar to Arkane Austin/Redfall where the project no one wanted to make led to massive brain drain and the core talent that made the studio truly special has left.

(he is in some trashy mobile games and I think DCUO but who play that?). A full game centered AROUND The Batman Who Laughs in a multiverse scenario would be INSANE. Bring multiple versions of Superman, Batman, Wonderwoman into the mix. Heck, just adapt the Comics into a game.

I mean think of this idea. Suicide squad members for the most part are villains turned by ARGUS. Now imagine at the beginning of each season a big name member in the comics decides to go to that city because of all the chaos that is going on. Waller then sends a new recruit in this case a lesser known member of suicide squad to help defeat big named villain to then recruit to defeat another form of Brainiac. So in this case for season 2 since its ice themed. Bring in Captain Cold or Killer Frost to stop Mr Freeze in his Iceberg shaped lair, adds a whole new level to the map, different enemy types. Maybe add some gimmicks like forming melee weapons out of the ice like a giant ice hammer or some shit, or hell even add some fire things for weaknesses. Then 2 new characters are playable to defeat the newer form of Braniac. I mean I'm not a game designer, but are designers running out of creative things to do, is technology holding them back, or is it the corporations running these studios? I'm not saying my idea is a great one, but from what I have seen on this game, said idea is kind of a "layup".

People keep talking about the modern audience. Where is that mythical modern audience at? Hollywood is fading out of existence chasing it. A lot of game studios have been closed trying to find it as well.
I agree with most of the gameplay I personally like her design for one the redness around her eyes is quite brilliant and I hope future versions of Mr freeze have them as well because they're meant to look like after you've cried for long time.
And I've know some people mentioned about how buff she is besides the fact that in the comics there is plain versions of Mr freeze where he wears a giant suit of armour.
But if you watch her anime video you can see that she just started walking out in her spare time and she genetically modified herself to become stronger most likely to carry around heavy equipment

Thanks for the explanation! I've been playing DRG lately, and one of my favorite parts about it is the class synergy. In SS, all I see are four players doing their own thing in one massive playing field. No interactions between characters. Idk if there actually is, and if there are please tell me, but so far I think they are doing co-op the bare minimum

Would've been cool if they did more Arkham characters for the seasonal characters, also my first thought for a cool character to add for the seasonal model would've been Doomsday. They've already shown they can do bigger models why not try cooler stuff instead of having boring variants of older characters that have no ties to anything we know.
