I've had fun playing, mechanics are fun, it looks good, sounds good, but the issue is there's no depth outside of go here, shoot these guys, blow this up. That process is overall enjoyable in small doses, but I haven't been able to get into the grind.
The game would of literally be saved if we just didnt have guns unless you were playing Deadshot. Every character should have their own unique weapon so that they can just put loot mechanics behind the character based on what you were using. Like King Shark gets a magic necklace or something, or Harley has her bat. And every character having the traversal would be dope if there were no zits. Just enemies that have no weakpoints. Like getting a Legendary Boomerang or something with special abilities that are homage to other characters, like a “Scarecrow Boomerang” or something that makes enemies run in fear when hit. And then every character plays completely different
In story, Brainiac said he compiled the data of all the fights. Now he knows how to take out the Squad….so why is he using the exact same tactics that didn’t work the first time?

What hurts so much about this game is how EASY it would be to fix if they TRIED. They coulda reskinned Braniac's purple monsters into green and white Joker-Gas crazed mutants and been like "Joker went too far and turned this Metropolis into a wasteland. Go wipe out the maniacs so it might EVENTUALLY get reclaimed." You grind thru missions, chasing Joker all over til you finally catch him and have Waller force him into the Squad. Simple, DIFFERENT and actually would feel like they added Content to the game instead of just offering new incentives to do the same three missions over and over again
Superman causing this whole mess reflects how rocksteady got taken over by Psychos. And flash told us what we need to do to the company to save the world. If I'm stretching I would say the deaths of the league members are what happend to any good Devs after their company was taken over. Executed without remorse with their legacy pissed on.
I remember reading how people got all upset when Harley killed batman. I dont know how people can get invested in these stories enough to get mad at them. In the time between Harley pulling the trigger and the bullet hitting batman, there were probably 700 new justice league canons released all with different continuities where nothing from this one matters.
I remember the content showcase having the guys going "Oh, we really had to think long and hard about how our new character would interact with the rest of the cast." and it's just like... Nothing there. He gets an introduction cutscene where he makes a sex joke, that's about it. Fucking Arkham-verse Harley Quinn has zero reaction to a new version of Joker. Truly, the narrative elements were a big consideration here!

(catch me while I swoon) By the time I looked a few hours later, of course, it had dropped back to 1,478, so "plenty" was clearly an overstatement. But hey, still 4 digits! Though, given Arkham Knight was 2,323 at the time, I think we know where that 1.5k went.

Honestly, it would not surprise me if the 'bug' to stop progress before level 35 of the new Pass was intentional. to force people to give up in frustration and pay the $10.
Just as a clarification. The endgame missions in episode 1 do progress your fear battlepass. Anything that says "episode 1: fear" progresses it one level at a time except killing time which gives you more the longer you are in the mission

the +1/+2 missions are probably some finite freebie missions or they are there to jump start you but once you hit the proper grindwall level they just disappear. I would constitute them as a bait and switch mechanic, as they seem to be there sole to trick you into thinking you will be spending less time grinding only to vanish entirely.

My favorite part of the Joker has always been his frenetic combat style. I've always loved seeing him fly around, run up walls and do flips while wildly shooting at people. It's really in character for him.
So glad you posted this. Was trying to watch your livestream and it was freaking painful. I looked up the cutscenes and there's hardly anything. His animations are great and his moveset is pretty cool, but they really dropped the ball with this entire game.
I agree, where was so much potential to make the Love Quarrel of H.Q. and Joker is some secret plan. E.g. in season 2 H.Q.&Joker leave the squad and are no more available, replaced by some other super-nobodies. And players are given choice to do the escape quest or not. So many possibilities wasted.
The fastest way to unlock Joker is to play the killing time mission, get up to incursion level 38 - 45, and extract. Once you do that, you will go up +10 levels. All you need to do is get to level 35. Should take about an hour or less, really. It's really not a crazy grind. This DLC is underwhelming. Wish there was at least like another chapter of story missions each season.
Making the star character for a season or expansion is kinda baffling. I mean, even Avengers allowed you to play Kate Bishop, Hawkeye, Black Panther, Jane Foster, and Winter Soldier from the start of their events and DLCs.
Yea this game is not even going to make it to a season 4 at this rate, and i think it’s safe to say unless Warner bros throws money at rocksteady to keep them afloat, they are going to shut down after this game which is a shame 😔
As someone who played the shit out of Avengers, you're not lying. It's asthonishing how quickly SS is retracing the steps of Avengers, but skipping the small good parts (like the Wakanda expansion)
Watching Helldivers 2 and watching this game at the same time is surreal. One has been releasing new free content and patches at an almost feverish pace, and the other is Suicide Squad.
This vs Helldivers 2 are complete polar opposites on how to make a good live service game. Expensive monetisation, bland, lackluster, barely any content, ignoring the community vs (actually micro) micro transactions, filled with different content - maps, modes/missions, weapons - a clear upgrade path, engaging with the community. Just says it all really.
Helldivers 2 should have been free to play, people really love to praise that hyper repetitive game, maybe itll get some content worth playing in 6 months.

Battlepasses, premium currency in awkward sizes (term for it I forgot) FOMO armour store, repetitive content encouraging purchases. I will say they are adding more free content so that's decent but like I said I'll check back whens there's decent amount of content I dont have to pay more money for, hopefully Illuminate soon. (Before you point out you can get SC free, thats also no different to many F2P games and especially prominent in toxic mobile games. It's proven to psychologically make you feel its ok to purchase that little bit more)
The new season is a little lackluster and I was a partial defender of the game. But if anyone is looking to unlock Jonkler quick you can unlock him in just over an hour by playing the Killing Time mission twice. Was definitley underwhelming though that the only story content was a brief cutscene of the Jonkler being recruited..
Because I'm a contrarian by nature... if other emotes cost 1,700, then the Giggler emotes can be listed as "half off" even if they've never been offered for sale. It's a comparison of valuation of like items. Note: I don't know how much other emotes cost.
It is also standard FOMO crap that comes with gachas and live service games. They discount the item to just badly overpriced when it comes out, and then will let it go to stupidly overpriced later, with the rest of them. So yeah, they are half off... and it is done entirely for psychological manipulation to rip people off.
They couldn’t put together a game with more than 10 hours of repeated content in 7 years! How the hell do people think they will be able to deliver good content on a monthly or two month basis??

Why not have the studio that did that Arkham series that was popular do it? Then we can make it a live service so we can get even MORE money for extended period of time."
They should’ve done a better job explaining how some of the stuff worked. A friend and I found that if you ran the new incursion missions you still gots points AND access to all of the new gear immediately so it became a little more natural than just open world missions that change drastically every time you load in
I would be INCREDIBLY surprised if it doesn’t go f2p within 3 months. Even then, I would predict its settled player count to probably sit around 4-5000 realistically. Which is enough to keep a game alive, but I still think new content would end after the first year.

got almost 80 hours in the game with all achievements and so far ive been loving it a lot joker is fun the game is great the traversal the combat the build crafting etc its really fun and addicting im hyped for future seasons
Meanwhile Warframes new character is unlocked via grinding a single missions where its parts have a chance to drop, but you get currency from said mission that you can use to just get his parts. A free game has a more considerate grind than a $70 one.
I think the only thing that could have any chance of creating another interest peak, is by announcing and introducing the Justice League as a new team of playable characters; as in, completely reworking and rebranding the whole game premise lol, what they should've done to begin with, then it might've stood some chance
I cannot stress enough this first DLC is like what Avengers got when its fate was already decided and all resources had been yanked post Wakanda. I also can't stress enough that Avengers handled DLC better, you could play new characters immediately.

Even the "Joker-themed" map looks bad... the big primitive shapes covered in gift-textures, that is so un-inspired, when you compare to the madness the Joker is known for in the Steelmill of Arkham City and in the dream section of Arkham Origins where he talks about his origin story.

My favorite part of the Joker has always been his frenetic combat style. I've always loved seeing him fly around, run up walls and do flips while wildly shooting at people. It's really in character for him.

So glad you posted this. Was trying to watch your livestream and it was freaking painful. I looked up the cutscenes and there's hardly anything. His animations are great and his moveset is pretty cool, but they really dropped the ball with this entire game.
I agree, where was so much potential to make the Love Quarrel of H.Q. and Joker is some secret plan.
E.g. in season 2 H.Q.&Joker leave the squad and are no more available, replaced by some other super-nobodies. And players are given choice to do the escape quest or not.
So many possibilities wasted.
The fastest way to unlock Joker is to play the killing time mission, get up to incursion level 38 - 45, and extract. Once you do that, you will go up +10 levels. All you need to do is get to level 35. Should take about an hour or less, really. It's really not a crazy grind.
This DLC is underwhelming. Wish there was at least like another chapter of story missions each season.

Making the star character for a season or expansion is kinda baffling. I mean, even Avengers allowed you to play Kate Bishop, Hawkeye, Black Panther, Jane Foster, and Winter Soldier from the start of their events and DLCs.
Yea this game is not even going to make it to a season 4 at this rate, and i think it’s safe to say unless Warner bros throws money at rocksteady to keep them afloat, they are going to shut down after this game which is a shame 😔

As someone who played the shit out of Avengers, you're not lying. It's asthonishing how quickly SS is retracing the steps of Avengers, but skipping the small good parts (like the Wakanda expansion)

Watching Helldivers 2 and watching this game at the same time is surreal. One has been releasing new free content and patches at an almost feverish pace, and the other is Suicide Squad.
This vs Helldivers 2 are complete polar opposites on how to make a good live service game.
Expensive monetisation, bland, lackluster, barely any content, ignoring the community vs (actually micro) micro transactions, filled with different content - maps, modes/missions, weapons - a clear upgrade path, engaging with the community.
Just says it all really.
Helldivers 2 should have been free to play, people really love to praise that hyper repetitive game, maybe itll get some content worth playing in 6 months.

@@chrisredfield6274 I had a great 20 or so hours with it, just the all the paywalled (or massive grind) for a bunch of stuff I don't want just for 2 guns isn't engaging too me. Game could have been better thats not edgy. Microtransactions are the bane of gaming (unless we like the game then IDK it's ok or something)

@@dudebruh8534 HD2 uses a lot of tactics FTP games use and are the reason I play very few FTP games thats not opinon it's just a fact.. Battlepasses, premium currency in awkward sizes (term for it I forgot) FOMO armour store, repetitive content encouraging purchases. I will say they are adding more free content so that's decent but like I said I'll check back whens there's decent amount of content I dont have to pay more money for, hopefully Illuminate soon. (Before you point out you can get SC free, thats also no different to many F2P games and especially prominent in toxic mobile games. It's proven to psychologically make you feel its ok to purchase that little bit more)

The new season is a little lackluster and I was a partial defender of the game. But if anyone is looking to unlock Jonkler quick you can unlock him in just over an hour by playing the Killing Time mission twice. Was definitley underwhelming though that the only story content was a brief cutscene of the Jonkler being recruited..

Because I'm a contrarian by nature... if other emotes cost 1,700, then the Giggler emotes can be listed as "half off" even if they've never been offered for sale. It's a comparison of valuation of like items. Note: I don't know how much other emotes cost.
It is also standard FOMO crap that comes with gachas and live service games. They discount the item to just badly overpriced when it comes out, and then will let it go to stupidly overpriced later, with the rest of them.
So yeah, they are half off... and it is done entirely for psychological manipulation to rip people off.

It takes 35 missions to unlock joker, you can replay the kill 60 braniac missions to get it done within 2 hours.

@@AlduinythingI agree, this was obviously Warner Brothers trying to chase trends and Rocksteady was the studio pulled in because they probably thought; "hmm Suicide Squad has Deadshot and Harley Quinn in it, and those are from Batman. Why not have the studio that did that Arkham series that was popular do it? Then we can make it a live service so we can get even MORE money for extended period of time."

They should’ve done a better job explaining how some of the stuff worked. A friend and I found that if you ran the new incursion missions you still gots points AND access to all of the new gear immediately so it became a little more natural than just open world missions that change drastically every time you load in
I would be INCREDIBLY surprised if it doesn’t go f2p within 3 months. Even then, I would predict its settled player count to probably sit around 4-5000 realistically. Which is enough to keep a game alive, but I still think new content would end after the first year.

got almost 80 hours in the game with all achievements and so far ive been loving it a lot joker is fun the game is great the traversal the combat the build crafting etc its really fun and addicting im hyped for future seasons

Meanwhile Warframes new character is unlocked via grinding a single missions where its parts have a chance to drop, but you get currency from said mission that you can use to just get his parts.
A free game has a more considerate grind than a $70 one.

I think the only thing that could have any chance of creating another interest peak, is by announcing and introducing the Justice League as a new team of playable characters; as in, completely reworking and rebranding the whole game premise lol, what they should've done to begin with, then it might've stood some chance
The Laughing quips are Rocksteady laughing at the people that bought this game.
I cannot stress enough this first DLC is like what Avengers got when its fate was already decided and all resources had been yanked post Wakanda. I also can't stress enough that Avengers handled DLC better, you could play new characters immediately.

At this point Rocksteady should make a plan to make an ultimate edition with all the seasons and gear for free at a discount price and make it offline, then maybe just maybe they can make some money off this game I’m still hurt on how this game turned out

Even the "Joker-themed" map looks bad... the big primitive shapes covered in gift-textures, that is so un-inspired, when you compare to the madness the Joker is known for in the Steelmill of Arkham City and in the dream section of Arkham Origins where he talks about his origin story.
