The problem with structure decks for new players is that the first thing you need to do is smash three of them together and build a deck.

The best way to create a beginner mode
Is to create the beginner mode and install a sort of AI that gets to know a little bit about you and what kinda player you are based on your history within the game.
    Weither you are a beginner/mid player/strong player

I've thought long and hard about the decks that should have been included there to showcase what could be show the different mechanics and attributes to learn to play the game. I do think that an Eldlich side could have worked well and given the game the ability to understand control and tempo of cards. I feel like Dinosaurs would be another deck that could give an incredible amount of breath into the type of combos, strategies and types of cards you could run.
Actually, SwSu would work very well as a basic combo deck.

Oh, for MD 'beginner' tiers, have only rental decks at different power levels (actually a little like the Tower series you used to run) or something like that. Let people learn slowly and go up, or stay on the tier of deck they are trying to learn/feel comfortable with

This will sound crazy but, matching in rank mode shouldn't take rank into account, IF the game has a reset rank mechanic. Reason, returning player gets paired against newbie. What the game should take into account when match making, is play time, more specifically, games on rank, then consider ranking. Also, the amount of deranking should be limited, so for example, if I've gotten to master, it doesn't matter how long I don't pay the game for, I should never be deranked to bronze, it doesn't make sense, I'm still a master rank player even if I hadn't played this particular version of yugioh. A good example of match making is Street Fighter 3rd strike online, in that game you also have mission for things to do while on a match, and that levels your rank, so the more you've played, the more experience you have, hence the better you are and the higher your lv, so in that game the match making is very close to pairing up ppl of the same skill; which I can't stress this enough, playing against someon who is closer to your skill level, is the only way you can have fun in a competitive game (unless you're an icehole that likes to steamroll scrubs); and it's so funny and fitting that Ryu himself, the 3rd strike version, has a winning quote that reflects this sentiment somewhat:
"Find an opponent that is your equal, only then can you improve"

Honestly I think Duel links is a good way to ease into the game. Then Master duel and upgrade to actual cards

Yes spend 6 months and play 3 different games only to work around the fact that you like a badly designed tcg. My god that's worse than people rationalizing awful things in the Bible lol

I always tell people that the best way to learn Yu-Gi-Oh is to play thr video games because it's a cheap way to play with lots of different cards with zero real world effort or consequences

A badly designed product made for a badly designed card game, sounds to me perfectly consistent. Also new people should not get into a bad game that they can only learn to love through abuse, there are good card games out there let this one die.
