We got our hands on the Yugi and Kaiba Collector Boxes from 2017. They each contain the Yugi and Kaiba Reloaded Starter Decks, plus 6 Duelist Packs to power them up! This was probably the most fun duel we've had with a sealed product in a long time!

You gotta love these old decks. Even if they aren't considered meta anymore, they're still fun to play and most of all satisfying to use!
Well even back then these decks were pretty bad. But still fun to watch
Its not that decks were bad they were just simple . Just later on they overdid it with effects. I'd rather play yugioh for 20 turns with older cards and have some fun. Than wait 20 minutes for my enemy to end his turn and win turn 1 @@Monkeylighthouse
no, they were just bad. there was a meta back then and it certainly was not starter deck yugi💀
@@malyman316honestly the reason Yugioh is so over complicated nowadays is because instead of just coming up with new effects or strategies the main way they decided to make cards better was by making their effects busted and removing as many limitations as possible, examples of this are cards like Zeus, fusion spells that use cards from the deck , and handtraps, these are all cards that ignore the rules or limitations that were set in place just for the sake of being better than the last cards that released. Zeus would more than likely be completely worthless if he actually required 2 level 12 monsters

I’ll be the first to admit I’m a Yugiboomer who last played the TCG in 2006, but this kind of back and forth, I play a few cards, you play a few card, I lose some LP, you lose some LP, is infinitely more interesting to me than how the modern game and decks work.
I'm with you there! I prefer the OG Yugioh. All these newer generations just isn't "yugioh".
And that's why I run a Red-Eyes Burn deck in Master Duel. It's nostalgia and not spending thirty years playing Solitaire.

That would be amazing if Konami did bundles like that regularly, especially since Yu-Gi-Oh is an ever-shifting game. Something like this could allow people to keep their favorite decks, and modernize them
This bundle was more of a 'we've got a lot of leftover stock, how do we get rid of it'
That said, it would be nice, if Konami legitimately added in a competent deck, with curated packs. Though, they would probably see it as competition to their Structure Deck line.
A Yugi deck using everything from Synchro to Link monsters would be so awesome.
Nuh uh. The cards were newly printed for this purpose. If it was leftovers you'd see another set number on the card. @@SakuraAvalon

It'd be nice if they did it for characters outside of the original series or at the very least not just yugi and kaiba lmao

Interdimensional Matter Transporter. Absolutely love that card. But man, these duels had so many turns and they were pretty close. Quite fun actually

I love how slow and back and forth these duels were compared to modern i wish they would reprint these decks and included the sdk bewd though call it nostalgia goggles but its my favourite design

Love these kinds of duels. Even if those beautiful UTRs are being played unprotected. Completely worth it to relive the old days
I also feel the pain, but at the same time totally did that myself. also just remembered kid me getting a blues eyes ultimate dragon in Japanese and being stupidly upset that it wasn't in English. god modern me hates the abuse and eventual loss of that card. (I do have a new one in English, but I know that the one in Japanese was way more valuable, unfortunately I was under 10 and didn't know better back then)
@@speedy01247 I feel that. I used to play the 1st edition yugi and kaiba starter decks against each other using a riffle shuffle and no protectors. But if every kid that played with the original valuable cards kept them in mint condition, they wouldn't be worth more than $5. Everyone back then had those decks, those cards, and a handful of really rare pulls.
I'm here 100% for classic stuff. Also great choice in music from the Forbidden Memories soundtrack. Hella nostalgic

Dang Alec had all the plot armor Yugi normally has but Paul and Kaiba were just too strong.
I definitely think Konami should do more bundles like this, would be a great way to get new players started in the TCG

Videos like these that reminds me of the good old times. That back and forth in yugioh was so damn good. Makes me want to make a couple of fun old school decks and or a cube.
The art in the Yugi's Collector box, if they had done a version with the anime colour scheme, it would be my favourite artwork of Dark Magician.
These duels are far better than modern! Still enough happening as to not just be boring but not too much happening to just be overwhelming!

I love this set! I got the Yugi one an it is so great. I forget how much I paid for it back in the day, but a starter deck, some boosters, a promo card, and an oversized card is one hell of a good bundle! I'd love for Konami to do more of these in the future. Maybe Jaden/Chazz and Yusei/Jack?

I’m not a fan of the newer fast paced special summon 5+ monsters per turn and activating cards from the graveyard - it’s just not Duel Monsters.
At 1:00. I just reread the atem vs yugi duel, and that artwork for dark magician is taken from a manga panel where atem summons dark magician.
Really exciting duels so many counters and chains.

The music choice in this is top-notch. Also, I loved seeing Interplanetary Purply Thorny Dragon. It's one of my favorite cards from the name alone, and it's pretty good in a dragon deck.

FYI, zero gravity would still affect BEWD to change its battle position, because it’s due to a card effect. BEWD is just unable to change its position the regular, standard way.
Side note, seeing some side deck action would be pretty cool for these duels.

Great video, the decks honestly seems really fun to play against each other, surprisingly well balanced against each other too. Kinda makes me wish Yugioh had a more limited format like sealed in MTG. Could really encourage these more scrappy games.

Those Yu-Gi-Oh decks let you guys go ham when playing against each other, a fun time. Modern Yu-Gi-Oh feels more like you're in traffic where there's a stop-n-go flow to it. That or a flexing contest. Its more fun watching you guys play up the decks from characters.
